In and around Sydney Airport

More about Sydney Airport

Sydney Airport and the surrounding suburbs of Mascot, Botany, Tempe and Brighton-Le-Sands are mainly residential areas – the focal point here being the airport. For travelers staying in hotels near Sydney Airport, the city center is around 30 minutes away by car, depending on traffic, and 25 minutes by rail. Within the airport are two train stations – one for the international terminal and one for the domestic terminal. Hotels near Sydney Airport are also quite convenient to Mascot train station, which is a popular station for local commuters who work in the city center.

For entertainment, travelers staying in hotels near Sydney Airport are convenient to Brighton-le-Sands – commonly referred to as Brighton. This sea-side suburb boasts a long stretch of beach, a lively boardwalk – the Grand Parade – and an abundance of waterfront restaurants, bars, clubs and shops. Ice cream stores, cafés, surf boutiques and fast food outlets line the streets close to the waterfront and it's a popular day-trip destination for Sydney residents who live in the western suburbs. Many short-stay tourists don't make it this far south, which is a shame as this beach is far less crowded than Bondi or Manly with better parking facilities and a similar relaxed beach-side atmosphere.

During the day, Brighton Beach plays host to joggers, surfers, bathers and picnicking families, while at night, the area comes to life with muscle car enthusiasts and couples taking evening strolls along the promenade.
