Could have been better...”

Sydney hostel and Cebu hostel are one and the same. Its located in tsim sha tsui which is a very ideal place, it’s like the center of everything. It’s near the MTR station and 15 mins walk to the avenue of stars. Also, shopping malls and fast food stores are near the hostel. If you’re in a tight budget like me, this will ok for you because Hongkong is a very expensive city. The staff cleans the room and changes the blanket and towel everyday. Could have been better though, no free bottled water, the room is so cramped, have to wait for toilet flush after use, from lobby you have to wait in a long line because other people also going to other hostels, have to walk upstairs from 15th or 16th floor because elevator doesn’t have 17th floor, and staff should be a little more friendly. It’s cheap, clean and you get what you paid for. It’s a place for you to sleep. For a budget traveler, this would be good choice but if you have more money to spare then you can go to the hotel next to it, holiday inn

Worth It!”

Upon arrival we were given a different room in other block, it seems that all their rooms were occupied that day so we stayed at day and night hostel, facilities were good specially the television is working so well though no toiletries and slippers available. The next day we checked out and returned to 12th floor of the block A (We didn't see Sydney hostel in the listings of establishment posted before the elevator so I just relied on the address on my printed voucher) and we were given their most expensive room according to the receptionist (I guess, he is also the owner) We were awed by the room it was clean, space is just enough, at the window we can see the city, complete toiletries and slippers, free coffee and tea, you can also use their microwave oven to reheat the food, hot and cold shower. Though there is no refrigerator inside the room, we had to put our beverages in other room were there is the refrigerator. Another is that their television cable is not working. WORTH IT!

Good enough to sleep in”

Pros: Very accessible to the MTR. You just cross the street from Chungking Mansion building and you'll get to Tsim Sha Tsui Station. Walking distance to the Avenue of the Stars, Symphony of Lights and China Ferry Terminal. The room is good enough for Asians. What you see in the picture is what you get. Clean room and bathroom. They change our sheets every 2 days. The receptionist and Amit are nice. Good wifi. There is liquid soap and shampoo in the bathroom. They provide towels, slippers, tissue, toothpaste and toothbrush. Small space but you can store your luggage under the bed. The place is safe. We were not bothered by the people selling on the ground floor of the building. Cons: The smell in the ground floor and inside the elevator. But it is tolerable.

Only if you are on a budget”

The location is excellent, followed by their friendly staff although the only time meeting them was during check-in and check-out

1.) Location and staff The location of this hostel is excellent, steps away from the MTR and few hundred meters away from the ferry to Central. The staff are nice and hospitable enough to show us the room. 2.) Comfort First of all, understand that this is Hong Kong:- floor area is a scarcity and very expensive in this country. The room that i experienced was very small (6' x 12' = 72 sq ft). This includes the bathroom and toilet as well. Sheets was stained slightly with unknown brown substance with the visible hair on pillow case. The pictures are deceiving. If you are looking for a big and luxurious room then get ready with a bigger hotel budget because this is HONG KONG and nothing is cheap especially real estate! This is a budget hostel for the ones who are just looking for a space to sleep. 3.) Chungking Mansion Google this place where the hostel is located and you will find out that it consists of 5 blocks (Block A to Block E). The name sounds glamorous but as mentioned in other reviews, there are a lot of people on the Ground floor trying to sell you things. Although saying that, they are harmless and just doing their job. So if you are expecting a grand reception area with a bell boy and a concierge, you are better off to be looking somewhere else. 4.) Food/Dining Indian/Pakistani food available on the Ground Level. Visit Hong Kong to experience Indian and Pakistani food, why not eyh? A little adventure on the palate. 5.) Value for money Only stay here if you are on your own, on a tight budget or backpacking. Definitely not a place to impress your family/girlfriend/boyfriend/fiance/in-laws/VIP/etc.

Great value but know what you're getting!”

When I first walked into Chungking mansions I thought I'd made a horrible mistake. The place is confusing, crowded, and filled with hawkers. I spend about 45 minutes waiting in line to go up the extremely limited elevators, then finding out I'd gone to the wrong place. Call the hotel in advance and make sure you know where your hotel is! A lot of these hotels seem to be run by the same people. Once I got up the elevators, however, the rooms were very clean and recently refurbished, although they are far and away the smallest rooms I've ever stayed in - but it is HK and for the price you can't complain. Hot shower with good water pressure, comfy bed, good AC. Once you get the hang of Chungking mansions, it's kinda nice. Lots of great Indian food on the ground floor. Safe and secure.

I booked Sydney Hostel but they gave me a room in Cebu Hostel”

I guess both hostels are managed by the same but in totality the price was great since we were there to roam around and we just needed a place to sleep and take a shower. Location was kinda scary at first but got used to it after the end of the day. Bathroom was kinda small but it's okay since it's private and clean. Staff were easy to talk to. One complaint was we were not able to use the provided hair dryer because it has a flat inlet but the outlet has 3 pins.

Nice location as it is located in Chungkng Mansion and near Tsim Sha Tsui. One thing I want to complain is that we booked one quad and one twin room but when the staff knew upon checkin that we are only 5 people, they gave us one QUAD room and one Single room. When we asked why the other room is single, they told us that already fully booked but they did not gave us any refund for the difference of the single room and twin room.

Located at the heart of TST, the place is very accessible to shopping centers, restaurants and transportation stations.
