Great bang for your buck. ”
The hostel is good for it's price. The kitchen/living room and terrace are Nice. Facilities are clean and there is quite a locker for you valuabels. The only cons were that my room had no closet or storage place for my clothes/lugage at all, other rooms had though. This made the Already small room feel cramped with all our stuff. Staf is friendly and there are vending machines.

Good sized room with helpful and friendly manager but bathrooms lacked cleanliness”
Pros - good sized double room with a window. Not noisy at all. Location is good, very close to station and center of Sydney. The manager was really great, he was so friendly and helpful, he made the place worthwhile. Con - The bathrooms are not clean at all, they need to clean them 2 times a day(or at least once).I tried using them at various times and never felt they were clean. However this is a hostel and I didn't mention this while I was there. If I had mentioned it maybe they would have clean more or explained why they were so dirty.

I stayed there for two weeks. There is free breakfast here and free pizza party every Friday. I’m not sure the other room but My room was a women’s room and all my roommate nice and kind. The receptionists were all kind and nice.

The staff were all friendly & helpful our rooms & bedding were clean & the beds were comfortable - the free breakfast was pretty good with a choice of cereal or toast with jams & tea & coffee, will happily come back to stay

It’s not a good vibe for people traveling through. All the guests are long term so the rooms are messy and the kitchen is crowded. The bathrooms are fairly clean but the ceiling was falling down in one of them. Somebody stole my iPhone charger and replaced it with their old busted one so that left a bad taste in my mouth for my overall experience of the place. Staff is nice. Cops were there one night because some crackhead was wandering around inside the hostel. I found a much better hostel for the same price one street over.

Thank for for the feedback Michelle. We apologize that you did not enjoy your stay however; Long-term guests make up less than half of the guests staying at the backpackers. Unfortunately the kitchen area cannot accommodate every single solitary guest in the backpackers all at once when occupancy is full. Normally there is plenty of space to use our facilities if one is patient. The bathrooms are currently undergoing renovations to patch up any cracks. Our cleaning staff take the cleanliness of the rooms very seriously and if there is any issue one can simply report the mess to reception so the matter can be resolved quickly. Likewise for any stolen property the premises is monitored 24-7 by CCTV so we can resolve any emergency matters like yours. Safety of the guests is our primary concern, the alleged intruder was looking for a guest who stayed with us but was quickly removed from the property as reception was closed for the day. Couldn't be more happier to check in this hostel after last terrible hostel experiences! Very nice and helpful receptionist,clean kitchen and bathroom. And even a sink and tap in four bed room!

it inconvenient to stay in a room where the others are there for long stay, they occupy mostly the spaces allocated for short stay guests. I had no issue with my stay as I was there for one night. I was thankful that I could leave my luggages upon checkout and able to tour around the city without the hassle of bringing luggages. The brekkie was simple but good enough source for your energy. You just have to bring your own soap, shampoo and towel if you do not want to buy and rent it there. That's all folks!

Thank you for those kind words Ronan. We try to maintain a good balance between long-stay and short-stay guests. Of course if there is any issue one can simply approach reception to make other arrangements. There is no dedicated 'space' reserved for any particular kind of guest with exception to the 'female' dormitories offered. We don't discriminate or give preferential treatment to any particular guest. Unlike hotels, we don't offer free soap, shampoo and towels with a private ensuite but we do make towels available for rental. This is a backpackers. Sincerely, Sydney Star reception team.

Overall, it was a great place to stay. Glad I found it. Blankets were small but cozy, individual toilets and showers, clean kitchen, simple breakfast (they even had orange juice!!), and great reception. My window was over an area either drunk or homeless people were because I heard them shouting both nights. That was the only non pleasant thing but it’s nothing the hostel can do.

Staff members are very friendly. Although the building isn't the newest, it is quite clean and well-maintained. The atmosphere is relaxed and quiet. Breakfast includes toast, jam, and cereals. Location is really good, too. I enjoyed my stay and will be back.

I honestly had a super crazy experiance here with some of the other guests, but the staff did everything they could to make sure it got worked out and I felt at home. This place is super clean and walking distance to a lot of things. Worth the money.
