Nice but no fan”
Rooms are nice and there is a great view of the falls from the restaurant. Food a bit expensive for Laos. Beer Laos is 18,000 k rather than the standard price of 10,000. Most upsetting though is that the description says there is a fan when in fact there are no fans at this resort. Agoda should change the description to be accurate.
Don't go there!”
Getting there could have easily destroyed my car - the road from Pakse is more holes than pavement. And I mean 'holes'! We had to pay a park entry fee just to get near this place. Situated in the depleted and lifeless remnants of a rain forest and overrun by day trippers, this 'resort' has nothing to offer. Particularly not if you are an Agoda booker. People there pronounce the word 'Agoda' the same way as 'dog poo'. Staff attitude ranged from fake-friendly through disinterested to outright hostile. Our room, a 'Deluxe Fan Twin Bed' was a single clad wooden hut with exposed wall studs, the sort of thing I store my lawnmower and my tools in. Two beds, a table and a chair. It STANK! Big time! Mouldy and unclean, like my lawnmower shed. The beds and the clean bedding were so moist that the only possible description for their condition is 'wet'. The 'fan' was an in - wall mounted extractor - like the ones used in abattoirs - which produced little but noise and only served to pull warm air from the outside into the 'shed'. The bathroom initially appeared to be ok but we found out rather late that the instant hot water service did not work. So cold showers all round, evening and morning. On top the entire water supply got switched off over night without notice rendering the toilet and all associated hygiene facilities useless. Breakfast was just as 'good', a warmish coffee with something totally different from what we ordered. And No, not lost in translation, I do speak sufficient Issan to get my point across in Lao border regions. I confronted an elderly man who seemed to be in charge and informed him about my misgivings - which produced a big smile, several shoulder shrugs and an insincere 'sorry, sorry'. The 'resorts' (lolx5) main attraction is a twin waterfall near by, but the park's operators have been unable to provide anything better than a 2/3 view of it. The bottom section of the falls and the river below are completely obscured from view. One could use the new
Triple room, 2 nights”
Staff was great, food was tasty, rooms were clean & spacious (a bit TOO spacious was our triple, as it was just the two of us. There was nothing else available at the time of booking) and the surroundings with the view to the falls were unforgettable. Koffies Coffee Workshop in the restaurant and surroundings was great, as well as their coffee bar/shop. Had great & relaxing time spending two nights there: arrived from Pakse by mbike, went to swim in a nearby waterfall and the next day had the workshop. After breakfast (included in the price) and coffee shopping continued on to Tad Lo and back to Pakse. The only negative thing was the bussloads of tourists rolling in continuously from 8am until afternoon to see the waterfalls, but somehow it too bothered us very little in the end.
This place is so great. It's in the countryside. We arrived late so it was dark. We sat at the restaurant balcony in the dark, relaxing and listening to a waterfall. The next morning when we came out of our huts, we saw the beautiful surroundings and had good breakfast. The old man at the restaurant was always asking if we wanted more coffee or tea, and you can't help but smile when you look at his smile. We took a walk to this amazing waterfall and chilled in the hammocks between the big trees afterwards. When we left, we used the public transportation. That's a fun experience.
Nice resort near the Tad Fane waterfall.”
Nice, relaxing resort hotel near the Tad Fane Waterfall. Cousy, clean bungalows, some with a view on the waterfall. Nearby are other waterfalls to visit and coffee plantages. Definitely worth a visit. From here you can explore the Bolaven Plateau further.
Jungle and waterfalls”
Nice bungalows in a very peacefull surrounding. Friendly staff, good restaurant. Good view at the waterfalls. On daytime busy with visitors, but thats nice to see. In the evening very, very quiet and peacefull. It's possible to do some jungletreks. And there is a coffecorner, were you can buy the good Bolaven Coffee.
Okay Hotel in a Nice Setting”
Keep in mind that the hotel is in the back-woods of Laos. If you don't expect too much you won't be disappointed. The setting is beautiful with big trees and all of the cabins overlook the waterfalls. The cabins are acceptable - clean and fairly roomy, with little verandas to sit on. The beds were rock hard. The food was good and the staff were pleasant and they were trying hard, but were clearly untrained and hopelessly slow. But you're in Laos so you really shouldn't expect much else.
beautiful location next to tad fane waterfall”
lovely staff who are extremely helpful a rather basic hotel located next to tad fane waterfall with stunning views of the falls. i wish we had arrived earlier to do the trek to the falls. food served at the resort is surprisingly good. i only wish they had spa facilities!
Superb retreat overlooking waterfall”
Only guest at the hotel in low season, ut staff very good, room in lovely setting and good quality; good walking excursions from the resort; access road in poor condition for motor bikes at the time of the visit
Amazing views of the Tad Fane waterfalls from room”
Came in the rainy season so the amount of water in the waterfalls was very impressive. The resturant serves great food and very friendly staff. Do take the walking tour through the jungle to the waterfalls - breath-taking!
In waterfall area”
Room was dingy and small. Management was not evident. Room reservation not understood. Booking conditions not understood. Breakfast was bad. "French Toast", was french bread with minimal evidence of browning. A real effort for staff to serve 6 people in the restaurant. My wife speaks Lao, guy working the bookings didn't understand his own language. Sorry, great waterfalls to look at but I would not stay here again. We arrived by motorbike, there are other places being built in this area, and guesthouses down the road.
Prime location for waterfalls”
you pay for the view here, which is best from near the restaurant, but is also not bad from the porch of the larger rooms (6a, 6b, 7a, and 7b). the rooms are clean and have hot water, though it gets a little chilly at night even in the hot season so bring a sweater. the best part about staying here is that you have the falls more or less to yourself during the evening or early morning, since many people come to see them during the day. the food is a little overpriced. those who have breakfast included have a selection to choose from, and the locally-grown coffee and green tea that come with it are both very good. it's a little difficult getting here since the buses don't come by as often as is stated. if comfortable driving a motorbike or scooter, it's a good idea to rent one from pakse and drive the 38kms yourself. that way, you can also easily visit the other waterfalls in the area. 1/2 day hiking trips are available from the resort for $7 pp or less with more people.
amazing loction, freindly staff, with lovely rooms”
i had a very pleasent stay, it was well worth the journey off the beaten track, it was very relaxing and just what i needed at that point in my stay, the near by waterfalls are fantastic and easy to find on foot by yourself, and most excellent is the one you can see from the varander resturant.
Lovely place. Scenery and sky steal the show”
from the moment we arrived, the resort put a new level of professionalism into laos accommodation. the reception was friendly and experienced, the bungalow was lovely, overlooking the massive valley carved by the falls over the centuries. neither fan nor a/c was available and - as advertised - wasn't necessary. the boardwalk/stone path between bungalows provided a wonderful touch of being in the wilderness. the sky was full of sparkling, clear stars as far as one could see through the trees from the darkness near the reception/dining facility. the food was not exceptional but was adequate but breakfast was better than most. the staff were obviously well-trained, from reception to kitchen to bar. they knew how to serve, were comfortable in their roles and outshone all other service staff we encountered after 3 weeks in laos.
this place is unbelievable, the view over the falls is out of this world.. the staff will arrange treks to local area as well and great food in the restuarant
The views were magnifient in a peaceful location”
Our stay was very relaxing away from the husle and busle of busy Paske though not to far.The views and walks to the waterfalls were fantastic.
The Resort with a View”
A beautify resort with THE view over the longest waterfall in SEA. The staff were friendly and helpful and the pet monkey a delight. My little chalet was beautiful
We liked everything but the breakfast is too limited. I highly recommend their zip line over the 2 beautiful waterfalls. Nice staff very accommodating.
Staff and waterfall are great”
We stayed one night. The red and green curries were delicious as were the baguettes for lunch. The waterfall is spectacular. Staff invited us to their Nee Year party which was very nice. Very accommodating and friendly staff.
The hotel, consisting of new bungalows with terraces facing the water waterfalls (though not with direct view) has an excellent location and number of activities such as the excellent Zip-line trip (5 sections) crossing the valley but sadly the owners are not very service minded. There were no instructions that we do not have to pay the park fee when arriving by car and checking in took over an hour when our reason for coming was to get out in the nature. Bungalows are fine though at 307.000 overpriced for Laos. Lunch took another 1 1 /2 hour so we lost the entire afternoon due to owners inefficiency. The hot water in the shower did not work but despite request to solve this was not attempted. With forest accommodation one must be somewhat prepared for the noise / presence of the natural habitants, but when a forest rat thought that our bungalow (No. 5A) was the best place to spend the night despite continuously trying to scare it away it was more than we appreciated.
