The Macau Roosevelt
Taipa,Taipa - View on map
"I was traveling with my friend who recommended this hotel, because she likes the pool. It has great views, from the room and the pool. The design is modern and fun. The bed is super comfortable! The location is both good and bad; good because the view and it is in Taipa, but bad because there is no bus stop close, and it is hard to get a taxi . All the staff was helpful and pleasant to deal with (except for one brat at the concession shop by the elevators). I would stay here again for sure, especially as it is a bit cheaper than what is in Cotai, but nicer than most of what is in Taipa. P.S. If you are an american looking for a soft bed, this place is great. Nothing worse than a hard bed when you flop down after a day of travel or adventure!"

Altira Macau
Taipa,Taipa - View on map
"My fiancé and I have travelled to Macau several times before, preferring to be away from the larger casino hotels. We stayed one night in a Waterfront View Room which was beautifully designed and very spacious, with a separate lounge style area, ideal for eating in room or relaxing in front of the amazing view of Macau. The deal we booked through Agoda meant this was excellent value for money. The bathroom features a large tub and shower room. The large pool has a panoramic view of Macau. We ate in Ying, the Cantonese restaurant which has great dim sum, and had drinks in 38 lounge (again overlooking the amazing view). At all times the service was excellent. The breakfast is ok, but not the best. It is a short taxi ride from the Cotai Jet ferry terminal at Taipa and just 10 minutes by taxi to the main areas of Macau. I'd highly recommend a stay."

"1. Credits to the receptionists especially Miss Leila. She was very patience and accommodative towards my request. 2.Easily reach town area via free shuttle provided by the hotel. Then, from the Grand Emperor hotel, they have free shuttle to the Macau Ferry terminal too. 3. Just 5min away from Inn Macau to reach other major hotels in Taipa. 4. Walking distance to the Taipa main attractions. Most importantly, walking distance to get my favourite Portuguese egg tart :)"

Golden Crown China Hotel

"Very nice hotel and quite close from Macau City and the well-known hotels in Taipa. It is the best take off point going back home from your vacation. Only a walking distance from the airport, this hotel has also great amenities and clean facilities. Hotel staffs are also courteous, helpful and polite. I had a great view of the airport and nearby surroundings. "

Regency Art Hotel
Taipa,Taipa - View on map
"Most hotels in Taipa and Cotai strip are expensive. Good thing I found Regency Art Hotel. It is somehow affordable compared to others and the location is good. It is just a few minutes away from Macau International Airport. The hotel is also near the bus stop, convenient stores and restaurants. On the outside, it may look ordinary but the inside is pretty impressive especially the rooms. All of their staff are accommodating. We asked for a charger adaptor and they responded asap. They offer free shuttle service to Hotel Sindra, Hotel Lisboa and to Macau Ferry Terminal. They gave us a flyer containing information about commuting which is really helpful especially for us first timers. I definitely recommend them and will definitely go back here if I'll be on vacation again in Macau."

More about Taipa

Most of the hotels in Taipa / Cotai are moderately priced and appeal mostly to mainland Chinese tourists who are more interested in gaming than sightseeing or museum-hopping. There’s a limited selection of posh resorts here, but developers promise many more in the next few years.

Taipa is part of an island separate from the Macau Peninsula. It was mostly rural before the 1990s, and it lacks the historic appeal of Macau City. Instead, Taipa focuses on modern casino development. Accommodation in Taipa is run in conjunction with Casino Crown Macau, Casino New Century, and Casino Taipa. Tourist attractions are limited to Carmel Gardens, Jockey Club and Macau Stadium.

Cotai occupies a strip of reclaimed land. Ongoing development projects ensure there will be more hotels in Cotai in the future. For now, it’s best known for hosting Casino Venetian. This larger-than-life casino is one of the world’s biggest, and the Venetian theme includes indoor canals and gondolas. Cotai also has the Karting Track, Caesars golf course and Macau East Asian Games Dome, both of which cater for Chinese tourists.

For international tourists, the Taipa and Cotai areas are best known for hosting Macau International Airport. It’s located off the eastern shore, and it specializes in low-cost flights that compete with Hong Kong International Airport. Macau city center is about 10 kilometers away and can be reached oversea via Ponte da Amizade Friendship Bridge.
