Great location and excellent value hotel”
Hotel is next to Marugamemachi shopping street. Excellent location. Room rate with breakfast is valuable, but the rooms are small and no toothbrush is provided. If you prefer the economic room rate, then I recommend this hotel.
Convenient, friendly hotel.”
Its a bit distance from Takamatsu station and pier, takes 15-18min on foot; but right next to shopping arcades with supermarket, bakery, fashion shops and many small but friendly Iocal restaurants. We had 2 nights stay, self-serviced laundry is available, massage spa looks very good and service till 00:00. Front desk is helpful and pleased for services. Our double room was right is good size, bed in regular size good for foreigners and bath is also not as small as other Japan business hotels which is designed for foreigners too.
Conveniently located near a shopping strip”
As my title says, its location is quite nice. However, the stores seem to close around 7:30 - 8:00 pm, but the restaurants open a little later. Quite a few sake bars and hostess bars nearby. It's not directly close to the train station (Kawaramachi), but it's about a 5 mins walk. The hotel looks a bit old, but it is still well-kept in my opinion. I would consider to stay in this hotel again if I revisit Takamatsu.
Good location, older but functional”
The location is good in the sense that it lies on one of the main streets, although train stations are not as close as one might like (still very much walkable). Using the hotel as a base to explores other parts of Shikoku most likely involves starting your journey from Takamatsu JR station which requires (start from the hotel) a short walk, then the Kotoden trains, then again a short walk. Alternatively, there seems to be almost always a taxi or two parked in front of the hotel waiting to pick up customers. The facilities in the hotel is generally older (for example, using physical metal keys) but clean and functional. Staff was nice, level of English was good, a couple of convenience stores nearby and the hotel lobby features drinks as well as cup noodle vending machine (with hot water from kettles in the room).
I think this hotel is one the of most budget hotel in the city center of Takamatsu, location is good near the main shopping and dining area, however the hotel lobby is dark and shaggy, room is typically japan style small but well equipped tho. tbh I will try rather new and bright hotel next time if have better budget.
Location is good, just next to the shopping and dining street. However the room is too small even hardly open the luggage on floor. I stayed 2 nights here in different rooms but both washroom were smelly which is rare in Japan.
- The worst thing is the air ventilation (the central a/c still only provides hot air in SUMMER and Autumn), no additional fan can provide and only the window is the only way - 2nd problems arose: we have to call the reception to open the window, but they can't speak Chinese or English very well. Also, there are construction works adjacent at 9am - Although it is in main town, not much attractions and tasty food around the hotel - The good thing is the price
Just one step short of excellence”
Location is great. However, the central aircon/heating system is filthy. Can see dirt and dust attached to the air vents. I stayed 4 nights. By the 3rd day, I started to cough very badly, and that night, I can hear the same whooping cough from another room. Hotel just needs to clean up the air vents in rooms and the central system to make this hotel a thoughtful stay for guests as well as staff working there.
convenient budget hotel”
prime location in kawaramachi. within walking diatance to many good restaurants and shops. parking is a bit inconvenient though and costed 1200 yen per night. this was not stated clearly in agoda.
Convenient location n nice staff”
the location is good. less than 10 mins walk from the airport direct bus stop. it s also not far from the railway. besides, it s like at the centre of the the shopping streets that there are many different shops, convenient stores, shopping malls, restaurants nearby. the room is clean and the staff is nice. value for money. good for solo traveler.
It's acceptable with the price you pay. The hotel looks old and ruined, and it is not very clean in the room. But the location is good when there're shopping streets and malls nearby. The staff did not notify us the checkout time when we were there, and it turned out was 10am. So we needed to rush out everything on the last day morning, which was not a pleasant experience.
Front desk at 2nd floor w/ escalator.”
Room was clean and comfortable. Front desk was at 2nd floor with escalator spotted which was inconvenient if you have big luggage. Shower gel, shampoo, toothbtushes were provided at exactly amount when checked in claimed "environmental conservation" but no problem to me. The coin laundry room has only 2 machines which I think was not enough. There was no ceiling light but bed side lamp and mirror light that the room was a bit dim to me.I am happy to the hotel quality, but relatively expensive than other hotels in Japan.
Convenient location but aging decor”
This hotel, although disappointing as there was mould all over my bathroom, was in an excellent location close to the long Takamatsu shopping galleries. The buffet breakfast was good too. The breakfast room is at the top of the building and has a great view over the Takamatsu urban sprawl. My narrow room itself was strangely appointed with the TV at the side of the bed a meter away from the bedhead - you had to "angle" yourself on the bed to be able to watch it. The reception staff did try to help with the bathroom issue, but I think the cleaners had given up on trying to get rid of the mildew, and over my 4-night stay nothing was done about it despite claims it had been thoroughly cleaned.
Good location but disappointing”
This is a nice hotel which needs a revamp. My room was narrow as at most Japanese budget hotels, but I expected better from this chain of hotels. The bathroom was my big disappointment. It was a plastic molded bathroom similar to those you find all around Japan, but this one was older than usual and mildew had taken over. I could accept some mildew could not be removed, but I was pretty shocked to find by a simple swipe with a kleenex tissue that mould growing around the taps and bathtub sink holes had not been cleaned. I remarked on it at reception, but after two days and a promise the bathoom had been cleaned, I saw no improvement. I received a very good deal from Agoda for this room, so I stopped my complaints, but felt really disappointed by the room conditions.
Accessible hotel but very little English spoken”
The room was tiny (single) which I expected in Tokyo but not in Takamatsu. It's basically not a hotel geared up for travellers from the UK and other English speaking countries. Communication was difficult. The room facilities were not really adequate e.g. lacking in crockery, clothes hangers. No BBC World or US news. There is also a very slow regime for room cleaning which means that you are expected to be out of the room for most on the day and, if you are working between meetings, this is inconvenient.
Great location, staff and room”
If you've never travelled in Japan, business hotels can be a bit of a size shock. These rooms were bigger than I normally find in Osaka or Tokyo, but still small in comparison to vacation hotels overseas. The shower is my only complaint. It was smaller than the usual small, but not a real issue even for a tall guy like me
bad hotel staff”
just normal hotel in japan. but we are surprised that most of staff are not young and can;t speak english. they can't explain well and they talked bad about customer in front of customers! as they did not aware i speak fluently, the middle-aged male staff keep complaining and mumbling and talking bad about guest to his colleagues. so much for hospitality!
Small room. Good location.”
Stayed in a small double bed which was really small comparing to other hotels we stayed. The bed measured about 120cm wide. Wall was so thin that you could overhear your neighbor's conversation. Wifi router is available upon request.
Takamatsu is very good travelling point”
It's situated in the heart of city, just next to the shopping street and train station, very convenience. But the hotel do not have its own parking area, its room as well as the beds are very very small and bit of old
Centrally located at great value for money”
We came to Takamatsu to see the Setouchi Trienale art festival. We stayed 2 nights with our 2 year old son. The room was bigger than we imagined, just big enough for his travel cot and our small bags. For the price, you can't beat it especially as we spent so little time in the room. It was centrally located to dining, shopping, and the train station and ferry ports were walkable. The staff were very friendly and spoke good english. The attached massage parlor was great as well. Parking was reasonable at 840 yen per 24 hours and half a block away which was quite convenient. The festival was a must-see! We only wished we could've stayed longer to visit more islands.
