Great quiet Resort in bush setting (nearly ) ”
Nice setting, quiet, large pool, large room, friendly staff ´without he feeling of big chain hotels
This place is great for people, who like it quite, want to be close to the beach ( beach is just across the road - one car every 5 minutes) and still like the feel of being in Thailand rather than in just another international beach resort. If you are a little bt mobile, there are other restaurants along the beach, take a taxi to White sand Beach, hire a motor bike - etc plenty to do if you like They even have their own ponys if your kids like to go for a ride or do small jumps! This is not the place for people, who freak out, if small things do not work But it is a great for people, who like excellent surroundings ,close to the beach, but spend mor time at the pool than on the beach

Everything is great. Receptionists are very nice and attentive. Thanks :) we really didn't enjoy the breakfast buffet . It could have improve Better for the guest to enjoy their meal. But over all it's a good hotel and the room rate is reasonable. Nice pool.

Quiet, very few people around, quick access to the beach
We had a lovely time at Takolaburi. I will recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet break from ther crowded Thai beaches. It's perfect for relaxing and long walks on the beach. The hotel is comfortable and if one doesn't want to eat in the hotel restaurant there are lovely local restaurants near with in walking distance.

Very big rooms, but a bit unnecessary so! You must try the restaurant, the food was really good, I don't usually eat in a hotel but this was good food at good value! The nearby beach was dirt average, so if you looking for a beach hotel this isn't you place! very good for young family's

Everything, Rooms, pools and facilities were amazing!
this truly was the most amazing place to stay. everything you need is here for a relaxing healthy holiday. right on the beach. there are so many different facilities for sports, spa and relaxing. perfect place for couples or families. the room was huge and there was amazing attention to details and welcome when you entered. they have amazing buffet breakfast every morning and all the staff are friendly and chatty. it is a little far from the shops and the bars but they rent scooters at a good price to get around. only bad point was we were accused of stealing slippers when we eft but there were none in the room, so check when you get in the room that there are some there so you don't have the same issue.

          Very large rooms
Avoid. This place calls itself a sports resort, but most facilities are out of service. No more football or volley fields, no more ping pong raquets, no more horses in the horse riding field, squash roof collapsed already, etc... Even worse, there is no freshwater in rooms, water in the shower is salty. Almost no lighting in the garden & pool area at night, looks like a ghost place. Not even seafront as there is a road to cross. It was a wrong choice.

          Beautiful resort”
Thai style bungalows. Restaurant, reception are all over water along boardwalks
Our stay here was very very nice. Our bungalow was very Thai style with own own private verandah with a swim out access, just leave your verandah and swim up to the bar. It was pretty much deserted while we were there, with only 5 of the bungalows rented, so if you're looking for seclusion, this is the one. The only problem with it being so empty was there were no staff at the swim up bar but was probably not economical for that with only 5 rooms rented. Seemed to be getting a little busier as we were leaving, I think November will be a lot busier. We were told they were hard hit in the tsunami and that is very apparent, lots of beachfront hotels completely deserted. Restaurant at the resort was very expensive, same as Aussie prices but hire a scooter, was 300 baht 24 hours, and head to white sands beach for dinner. The beds were very hard however, when I told them they put a matress softener on it, was much better.

Villas were very nicely decorated, food was good and staff very friendly and helpful
Khao Lak was hit very hard by the Tsunami and the impact of this disaster still lingers in the area. This resort is still in the process of renovation however the villas which have been done are very good. We particularly like the fact the villas backed out onto part of the swimming pool. Staff were very nice and the food was good. It was very quiet when we were there and the beach pretty much deserted. There is some swell outside so our group did some surfing which they enjoyed.

A road passes between the beachfront villas and the beach itself, but the traffic on this road is very light.
Takolaburi was perfect for our our family. The staff was attentive. The sporting facilities, tennis courts, bicycles, fitness room, table tennis were well-maintained and readily accessible. The restaurant had a good variety of food and the breakfast was fantastic. We borrowed the bicycles daily and it was such a pleasure to ride the quiet streets. Shopping and city life were not the goal for our vacation. We wanted to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Thailand beaches. This was a great place to do that!

not at the best end of the beach,
beauriful hotel, espcially the brekfast area overlooking the beach, rooms spacious and clean. The hotel is not at the best end of the beach but it's an excellent starting point to walk along the length of the beach, be carefull of the river that comes down further up the beach by the hotel, you have to judge your crossing with the tide or else you may just have to sit in the local bar across the river until the tide goes out. The beach front has only about 5 hotels on it but no local business only across the river, which you can wade at low tide. There are howver around the corner from this hotel several reasonably priced restaurants, although the italian is a little overpriced.

Close to the beach, calm & quite and big rooms.
The hotel is ok, but for me the location is far too off from civilization. At the location there are only a couple of small restaurants, a tailor shop and a minimart. To get to Khao lak "city" it's about 15 km. One way cost 200 bath with open taxi or 300 bath by taxi with AC. You can rent a motor bike from one of the restaurants for 200 bath/day. The beach is a little stony right in front of the hotel, but got pure sand a couple of hundrad meters to the south. Unfortunately the use the area in front of the hotel as bus parking, so forget "view suay" while having breakfast. In the restaurant the played the same instrumental elevator music during my 5 days stay and at too high volume. Also at the pool area they played music at a high volume, but here they played different kind of music. The hotel was almost empty during daytime, while probably 95% (4 full sized buses) of the guests were group travelers that went on 10 hours daily sight seeing trips. One morning I came to the breakfast at the same time as these group travelers. I recommend that you try to avoid that. Enjoy your stay!

Large rooms, clean and a good breakfast.
I had a great stay at Takolaburi. I booked it being very excited about a the deal I was getting at $32 a night, then read a bunch of reviews afterwards about fleas, cockroaches and how its so far from everything etc. I almost changed hotels but I am glad we didn't! Takolaburi was very nice, it may not have been the fanciest place ever (seems like the place used to be really nice but is a tad run down) but it was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly though most struggled with English (but hey I live in China and deal with this on a daily basis so nothing new there). The place is a little more remote but there is quite a few restaurants easily within walking distance that are delicious and with small kids there is nothing else we really needed. We had the beach, kiddie pool, Thai massages and good food all already right by us so I say it was a win. And we still took a tuktuk in to the city center a couple nights for some more dinner options. My main complaint is their wifi situation, its free in the lobby but its realy spotty and its 100baht for 30 minutes of wifi in your room, too expensive for wifi. Overall, we enjoyed out stay and we would stay here again!
