This hotel and its incredible staff made our stay in Chiang Mai memorable. If I could give the staff more stars I would. We has a suite and that extra room was perfect. We also enjoyed the restaurant very much. After very long hot days touring , the restaurant and the pool was an oasis of peacefulness in the evenings.
We booked a Deluxe Room and thank goodness we did. The room whilst clean was very compact and I mean compact! If you wanted to just sit down in your room the only place to sit was on the bed. We had an ensuite bathroom. As for cupboard space, again in short supply. We were there for 5 nights and were happy to live out of our suitcases. There is a small swimming pool with a few sun loungers. However, as soon as a sun lounger became available, there was somebody waiting to fill it so you had to be lucky with your timing. What you have to appreciate is that the hotel is in the old part of town and space is limited. The best thing about this hotel was its location. For a small hotel, the quality and choice of food available in the restaurant was superb although it did lack atmosphere. The weekly night market in Chiang Mai is literally just across the road. If you're there on a Sunday, definitely worth a visit. As with most people in Thailand, the staff are friendly and helpful.
Boutique Comfort in Tranquil Setting”
Can't speak more highly of Tamarind Village and have now stayed on two occasions. The entrance down a bamboo framed driveway hints at what lies beyond. The walkway with beautiful artworks is worth the time to wander and appreciate. The rooms are very well appointed and very comfortable. The pool area is exceedingly tranquil and inviting with close proximity to the restaurant for snacks and drinks. The restaurant provides a wonderful breakfast and delicious food for dinner. Staff are wonderful and overall an extremely pleasant stay.
A place you would like to come again”
Very great location just like everybody recommended, the hotel is very quiet and makes you feel peaceful , perfect for people who wanna run away from the city. The room is not very big but enough , the only pity for me is the period while staying the swimming pool is renovating, so you need to go to the other hotel to swim(the hotel will drive you there). It’s a place I would like to go back again for sure , really highly recommeded!
Quaint Thai Decor & Setting ”
I have stayed at this property three different times. The location is very good and for a first visit to Chiang Mai the setting and decor are very charming. I would recommend for a first visit to Chiang Mai as the city can be disappointing in its' displays of tourist trash, bar girls, and seediness . That said, this is not the most comfortable of hotels and the staff is fairly indifferent to going the extra mile. The rooms are small, the bathrooms tend to be dark (no tubs) with rattan doors that do not always close with a seamless fit. My last visit included a higher grade (larger) room which was on the perimeter of the property and had a fair amount of street and neighborhood noise. The beds are single mattress style, so they are not ultra comfortable. The front desk is situated at the entrance to the property and the front desk staff mind the entrance like wardens. This is a busy property, very popular with the Brits, and a gracious welcome is not always communicated.
Beautiful Old Town Oasis”
The location for Tamarind Village is fantastic- a little oasis nestled in the middle of the old town. The hotel seems to be fully booked most of the time, so the staff (front desk, especially) do seem very busy... The breakfast is good, but not exceptional. The food quality is high, and the staff are very accommodating if you have special requests. The buffet just won't likely be the most memorable part of your stay. (Thai service is generally always fabulous, so still keep your hopes high!) My favorite aspect was probably the room itself- so much character, and very unique. I loved that a Lanna story was left on the bed during ever turn-down service. Overall, this hotel was excellent- great if you are able to afford a more luxurious Chiang Mai experience! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. :)
Perfect for Songkran or anytime”
Beautiful, serene, lovely hotel with the loveliest staff. They took such good care of us, and provided fun, cultural activities for the kids during Songkran. So much fun to throw water with and on the staff during the water festival.
Still pricey but I was happy staying there”
This hotel offers great customer service from the moment you step into their front desk lobby until you leave the hotel. This hotel not only decorates themselves with traditional architecture and interior, but also offer you many activities that you can experience Chiangmai tradition. They offer city walking tour pretty much everyday, and also traditional-stuff-making session as well. Their staffs are so friendly and also baby-sit well. Even though it is expensive than normal hotels in Chiangmai, I would say I will visit this place again.
Room was beautiful”
We booked the suite and the room was spacious and beautiful. The only downside is the TV cannot be tilted so you can't watch it when you are in bed. Breakfast was pleasant and staff was helpful. Recommend to stay over Sunday as the location of the villa is right in the heart of the huge Sunday market.
The best services & activities ”
All staff are very kind & willing to help customers. The other best part I like the most is Free activities each day - learning to do "Tung" and morning tour for 5 temples! The place is very beautiful & fantastic with the legend tree.
the most tranquil ,wonderful & peaceful resort inside the Chiangmai old city”
over 200 year-old tamarind tree is their symbol and we can receive so much positive energy here.We come here every year and this resort is our favorite and the best one we recommend. Their massage and Thai restaurant are excellent and they provide traditional activity and temple walking trip each day. Create ur wonderful experience with Tamarind village and u would smile for this decision.
Lovely escape hidden in the middle of Chiang Mai ”
The rooms are on the small side with no bath and they leave the doors open so the rooms are full of mosquitoes. That said the decor and greenery make this a lovely location to relax at the end of the day. The restaurant was so good we ate there 3 out of the 4 evenings we were there. The pool was nice as well even if the poolside is a little small and we had no sun lounger available on one day.
We had a very nice stay in Tamarind Village Hotel. The room was lovely and the staff attentive to all our needs. Breakfast next to the pool is very good. The restaurant of the hotel is also an excellent choice. The location is excellent for visiting the old city and at the same the hotel is very quiet. Highly recommended!
My husband and I spent two nights at Tamarind Village. The hotel is a little oasis in the heart of the Old Town. Within easy walking distance of many sights and restaurants. The staff are friendly and attentive. The buffet breakfast is good - lots of selections! While we saw several families with young children, I am not sure we would stay here with our boys. There is a very peaceful atmosphere, which I am sure they would shatter! We both did a spa treatment, which was good. As always the prices in the hotel are much higher than what you can get at one of the local places in town - however the atmosphere may not be match! The hotel was fantastic and we would stay again. The only thing to be aware of is that the buildings are wooden and if you stay on the bottom floor, you will hear people going up and down the stairs. We did not find this disruptive, but perhaps some would.
Zen location ”
Beautiful hotel. Great location with in walking distance of everything . Wonderful restaurant. Took advantage of an amazing hotel massage. Room was tranquil and relaxing ! Loved the walking tour. Staff so kind and made us feel very much at home. Only hotel I would book again in Chiang Mai.
Excellent stay in the heart of Old Town”
From check-in, you'd feel the Thai warm welcome that makes you feel like you are home. The friendliness of all the staff, the excellent location to the Sunday Walking Street, the beautiful Lanna buildings, the free walking tour to the local temples, the artistic atmosphere they put on, the daily culture activity under the beautiful tamarind tree...every little detail makes it a perfect stay. Totally worth it!
A Great Experience!”
Location is excellent, right in the heart of the Sunday Night Market. The tranquility, architecture and interior design were excellent too. To top it up all, the staff made a real difference to the stay experience - friendly, helpful and attentive to needs. Highly recommended for all travellers
I like all about this hotel seriously.”
I like trenditional style. There are very quiet and peaceful hotel, Beautiful interior and landscape, a lot of big trees and friendly staffs who can speak english very well. The highlight in this staying was spa. I had body scrub and aroma oil massage. I think the therapist's very very good and reasonable price. I enjoyed and very relaxed with my spa treatment.
Nice Experience in Chiangmai”
The hotel is very comfortable with nice staff and excellent location. The staff is very helpful which they are attentive to residents' needs. I was surprised that the location of the hotel is very convenient which the Sunday Market is just located outside the hotel. Nevertheless, the hotel is not noisy at all. After you enter the hotel, you enter a comfortable and relaxing space again. I highly recommend this hotel.
Lovely Hotel in the Old City”
If you need a hotel that is close to everything, you have to choose Tamarind. Its appeal is not only the location but once inside the hotel the atmosphere is quiet and peaceful. Lovely staff all round. They even gave us a free upgrade to a bigger room!! Sunday night market is just outside the main entrance. Best to return to the hotel before 4pm if you drive.
