Above average”
+ Friendly staff they were attentive + small but good breakfast + Very clean + Free shuttle to the city(to go only) - 10-15 min from the cities - experience loss of power, struggle with the heat - Villas were far from everything, entrance, breakfast. - the Wi-Fi struggles most of the time - Tried to use the jacuzzi, not enough hot water to fill. I tried to use the jets and they were filled with ants. - Restorant very pricey and in US dollars - Pool seems infinity over the cliff but its just an angle effect.

good place for absolute relaxation”
we were there the 3rd time over the past 5 years and still love the place. The staff were very helpful and friendly, breakfast and restaurant food is excellent, the complimentary shuttle to Ubud a bonus and the Gallery is definitely worth visiting. we still found the real Bali experience at Tanah Merah.

Amazing!”
We loved our stay! The staff is amazing and the grounds are beautiful. We had the one bedroom pool villa and loved how big it was, and all the food on the property. Definitely have to be used to animals and jungle life, but definitely worth it.

Excellent Stay”
Excellent place to stay within a forest area. Though a 15 minute drive from Ubud center, the serene surrounding totally make it worth it. The hotel owner Mr. Peter's a lovely guy to talk to and his art collection (you'll be taken on a guided tour) is grand and left me amazed. The staff are hospitable and I'd certainly recommend this place to anyone wanting to explore Ubud.

Beautiful hotel grounds and unique experience”
This hotel is a little further from the main area of Ubud - about 10-15 minute drive. They have a shuttle to take you into town I think between 9-5 but you need to get taxi back which shouldn't be more than 60000 rupiah. (AU$6). The scenery and just location was worth it to not be in town, eating breakfast and overlooking the jungle, the infinity pool overlooking jungle, all the lovely architecture and fittings - super authentic Indonesian vibe. It is a bit more rustic so not as pristine as some of the 4-5 star Seminyak large chain sort of places but this hotel has an amazing charm about it. Lizards, frogs, roosters, lots of nature around! The cottage is a little dark so if you like light rooms, book one of the apartment type hotel rooms. I really enjoyed just walking around the grounds and relaxing here!

Peaceful & Comfortable”
Beautiful property quiet away from Ubud Centre but however if you are looking for a peaceful stay close to nature this is the ideal place. Stayed at Double or twin with panoramic view(Bali Villa) which had an amazing view of lush green valley & not to be missed the river which flow a few steps down from the resort with the sound of water flow the entire day was yet another advantage.

Amazing place! ”
The setting beside a river gorge is stunning. Each room is different and personally decorated by the owner who is an art and antiquities collector. Peter has a large collection of antiques and art on display and for sale. You must experience this place to believe it!

Truely beautiful, Couldn't recommend enough!”
The sheer beauty of the hotel and it's surroundings is unbeatable in Ubud. We stayed in the cheapest option as we were travelling around Bali and this was our first stop, but that still gave us our own private cottage which had a huge hot tub in the bathroom also over looked the infinity pool so we didn't have to stroll far for a quick dip! The other villas to rent here are incredible with their own private pools over looking the jungle. The hotel itself is a bit further away from the main part of Ubud, the famous monkey forest road but nothing a quick cab journey for 70,000rp can't manage. The on site art collections and museum belonging to the hotel owner are something you MUST see when visiting this hotel! Rooms bulging with Indonesian artifacts, art, furniture, collectors items going back thousands of years! Truely amazing and inspiring place of art, culture and peace.

Nice place but thngs to know”
This is a little out of ubud but is quiet and relaxing. There is free shuttle in to ubud. You will need to haggle with taxis coming back. Restaurant is good. Pool is nice. I didn't like that everything is priced in dollars. We are not in USA and I don't have dollars. Everytime I asked for something they had to convert, sometimes needing a calculator! Just tell me in IDR. Driver and taxi from hotel are twice as much as from Ubud. This is generally an expensive property .

Very good”
The staff (one in particular) were super friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and spacious. However, don't be fooled by the infinity pool picture as there is a big roof just underneath it so it isn't actually infinity and the beds around the pool side are dirty. Also, we went on a 'free' shuttle bus into town and to the waterfall and our driver asked if he could take us to a wood carper and he also asked if he wanted us to stop off on the way home for lunch to which we agreed. When we got back to the hotel we were charged for a tour we didn't even ask to go on! So be careful - it was a disappointing end to our stay there because they just took advantage when they could!

nice location, beautiful balinese rooms”
the location of the hotel is 10-15 mins from central ubud up the hill in the mountain. its a very nice setting and the grounds of the hotel are quite big and are full of art and balinese culture. we stayed in the upper bintang suite. the rooms were huge, separate lounge area and then sleeping are and bathroom facilities. the decoration of the room was beautiful. the door to the bedroom was from the royal palace and the whole suite contained many items of interest to look at. plenty of mosquitoes outside but none made it inside and even so the 4 poster bed had a net around it. intially we thought the air con would be sufficent but it was fine once it was running for a few hours. internet is pretty much non-existent but not a huge surprise based on the loaction. the bed was clean and towels were clean. the breakfast was tasty and filled us up. we never ate in the restaurant as it was quite pricey. the hotel has an art gallery and beautiful grounds.if you are into photography/art then you'll be happy enough. the staff were nice and very helpful. id recommend this place for couples , solo travellers etc, if its an older person(s) then id recommend staying on a villa on ground level as the steps require caution even for a young person. 10-15 mins from central ubud but nice and quiet. overall a nice place to stay and quite unique in it design. worth a visit.

Unforgettable stay at Tanah Merah Resort”
Setting, Staff, Food
We absolutely loved the Tanah Merah Resort! We stayed in the Mads Lange Villa, which has a private pool, jacuzzi and incredible views of the jungle. The owner, Peter, and the entire staff are so friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious and the entire resort is so beautiful that we had a hard time leaving. The location was perfect - about a 15 minute drive through the rice paddies from central Ubud. Highly suggest staying here.
