Best wild ocean getaway in Philippines”
Me and my boyfriend visited Tarzan's for 3 days. We wanted some pristine and secluded place to stay, fronting the ocean. Bucas Grande seemed a great idea, after we visited quite busy Siargao for few days. Tarzan's is located in the East Bucas Grande. Reachable only by boat. No motorbikes or cars allowed there, only a little village with few cottages nearby. No noise. Only the ocean and the jungle. The locals are very friendly. Tarzan's Beach Resort offers a simple accommodation in stunning surroundings with lovely and welcoming hosts. The owners Chaz & Jennifer did their best to make us feel just like at home. Jennifer is a great cook and every meal she served was really fresh & tasty - starting with delicious breakfast omelette, finishing with amazing crabs in coconut milk and baked squid. Everything very reasonably priced. Chaz gave us lots of tips for exploring the neighbourhood and arranged boat cruises around surrounding islands. Chaz is American, Jennifer speaks good English. The cottages have simple interior. They are supplied with fan, mosquito net, toilet and running water shower. Each cottage is supplied with a hammock and safety lock. There is also a shower outside, great for washing off the sand. Don't expect luxury - it's very decent jungle cottage accommodation at a decent price in most picturesque beachfront surrounding you could ever imagine. Jungle only a few steps away. The cottages are located literally on the beach. Expect being woken up each day by a beautiful scenic sunrise over the Pacific ocean. We were the only tourists on the whole island during our stay. The place it not touristic. We had the beach entirely to ourselves. Getting there is easy. Hosts can arrange comfortable and reasonably priced boat transfers from Dapa (port in Siargao). You just need to contact them in advance via SMS. If you are looking for a true paradise getaway you can't get better than Tarzan's. 10/10 experience Have a nice stay, Monika & Pete

True paradise! unspoilt tropical island experience”
We were a group of 6 friends and we really enjoyed our three days at the resort! Our favourite thing was Jennifer's cuisine for sure!! She was also the nicest host along with Chas you can imagine, and had everything taken care of. Their friends who help at the property were also extremely lovely and we enjoyed their company a lot - along with their lovely son Tarzan! The cottages were cosy and all right on the beach, the village was close too (very very small village, as original as you can get as there are zero tourists on the island except for the few staying at Tarzan's. All of the locals were very friendly. I recommend going on the Sohoton caves tour too while u stay at Tarzan's. The beach in front of the cottages is a long stretch of untouched white sand and palm trees - amazing!! It doesn't feel like it's real even - see my photos to get the idea (although photos truly don't do this place justice) Highly recommended!

An idyllic beach front hideaway”
The cottage pictured on this site is situated about five metres from the beach. The view out across the azure sea is wonderful. There is only one cottage in use so you are likely to be the only guest/s. Bring plenty of reading or movies because the internet connection is weak or non-existent. Otherwise it is close to paradise. The resort is reached by boat from Dapa Port. You need to call the resort to arrange this. Each trip costs 1000 pesos. It is a 30 minute ride to the resort with the very helpful boatman, Board. The boat, which is available for island hopping tours DID NOT APPEAR TO HAVE LIFE JACKETS! When we were there the seas were calm and the ride was fantastic. The resort is owned by Jennifer and her American husband, both very friendly and helpful. There is an extensive menu with most meals around 290 pesos. Jen prepared lovely meals of chicken, fish or pork in the evening. The bathroom lacks a mirror and the tap at the basin is broken. It is a rustic but lovely experience.

Great experience”
Chaz and Jen, along with their son Tarzan , staff and friendly dogs took care of our every needs.I rate this place far above General Luna or Dapa (manufactured for tourism) for laid back and simplistic enjoyable experiences. Stayed 3 days here, should have stayed the whole 5 days we spent in Siargao as this was way more authentic. If u are comi9ng here please bring fishing gear for their son young Tarzan as he loves fishing .God Bless this family

PARADIse lost, now found... by us - the PARADIangs”
We spent two nights and 2 days at Tarzan's Beach Resort. It was worth the trip as we had the whole resort to ourselves. There were no other guests around and we were treated like close friends by the couple-owners Chaz and Jen. Their son Tarzan was a little bit shy but was still nice to my kids. Their two dogs, Herman, a German Shepherd and Angie the Rottweiler were very friendly as well. My daughter, Danee got a few tips from Chaz on how to surf and he was kind enough to lend his surf to us on our last afternoon there. The only negative to the resort was the presence of lots of seaweeds on the beach. We were told by Chaz that they had it cleaned the day before we arrived. However, on the next two days no more cleaning was done. It would be better if they'd do it at least every other day. If their swimming pool would be repaired/waterproofed, that wouldn't hurt either. We'd still go back if given the chance, maybe in the near future.

Secluded tranquility”
Our 5 nights stay in Tarzan’s was just great! Basic, yet comfortable and comfy accommodation in a very beautiful and peaceful island, away from the crowds - and pretty much everything else-. You can truly disconnect and rest in this place. During high tide you can swim in the pristine beach right in front of the cottages, and during low tide you can explore the exposed sea bottom and even walk to some small nearby islands. There were just many things to experience here, like trees full of fireflies, hills to hike or visiting the nearby village. The hosts keep it nice and friendly. The home-made food was delicious; having a great breakfast with mango juices and brewed coffee overlooking the beach…incomparable!. We would love to make it back to Tarzan’s in the future.

our hosts are very accommodating, and treated as if visiting family member, dont worry ordering food at their small canteen, the servings are definitely BIG and yet the price is below sea level. you have the beach as if you owned them. very nice if you're looking for privacy! definitely worth coming back!

Serene,peaceful and Rustic”
We had a wonderful 5 days at Tarzan's resort. We were the only westerners on the island besides the owner. Friendly locals in a village down the way befriended my kids and were very welcoming to us too. The accommodations are comfortable, but rustic. We surfing hiking and snorkeling are all available on the island. I would definitely come back again!

Relaxing Place”
Loved this place , unhurried and simple. Great family atmosphere and relaxed service. Enjoyed the bonding we had with Chaz and his family. If coming try and bring fishing gear for young Tarzan cause he is a great kid and loves the outdoor life especially fishing.

Pristine location”
Simply can't beat this beautiful location... it's off the traveled path, so secluded and pristine, which is why it's a great place to stay while in Siargao islands if you love nature and peace. The owners are friendly and for reasonable fees will provide everything you'll need from food to the boat transportation necessary to enter and exit the property. Will be back.

The place is beautiful and peaceful. Great sunrise views, and when you walk at the beach on the right, you can also see magnificent sunset views. Jen is a very good cook and the meals were delicious. The people are very hospitable, friendly, and accommodating, and so are the dogs! If you want a serene place away from the crowds and touristy spots, this place is for you. Will come back again soon!

Basic accomodation - you get whatyou pay for...”
The expat owner's wife picked us up in Dapa, for a 20 minute ride in s small muffler-less boatn, bring ear plugs)to the island where the report is located. Accommodation in a thatch roofed hut right on the beach was quite basic; there were electric lights and a fan but no air con or fridge. We slept on a thin foam mattress and thick lumpy pillow. No mosquito net provided; good we brought insecticide and mosquito repellant. Water was cold and pressure low; it often didn't reach the shower head. There was no secure lock but the owner safely kept our valuables in his house. The owner and his Filipino wife were friendly; they tried to please and offered us boat excursions to nearby islands and surf spots. We declined due to the rain. There is a small village next to the resort; no shops or restaurants though. Lack of competition meant we ate basic Filipino fare at the resort's dining room, which is an open porch under the owner's house, with one long plastic covered table, plastic chairs, and a satellite TV to catch the news. There were two large, friendly and often wet dogs, and 4 skinny, playful cats hanging out in the dining area, happily picking up whatever dropped off the table. The menu was simple but edible, prices commensurate with lack of competition - however beer and brewed coffee were reasonably cheap. The beach was sandy, shallow with rocky outcrops, ocean water clear and warm, some spots of small corrals about 150 meters out, lots of dynamite damage. Local fisherman plow the waters in noisy boats, and unfortunately use dynamite destroying the corral. We were told there was some undamaged reef close to the beach of a nearby island - we didn't bother to check it out, mostly because of bad weather. We left after 3 nights due to persistent rain. Maybe we will come back one of these days when the sun shines - especially if this review prompts improvements.

Exclusivity”
We loved it, after the hustle and bustle of Cebu it was lovely to relax at the beach with no one else around. The waves are fun and there is also good snorkelling, they went out of their way to help us out.

perfect for couples who want to unwind ”
It was just perfect for us. We knew that it was going to be a simple room, and the excellent vistas and diverse activities keep us entertained during our stay. We had bad weather, but the warmth and hospitality of our hosts really made up for any inconvenience the typhoon brought.

Acceptable”
If you want an escape from the noisy city life this is a great place but if you're looking for comfort this isnt the place to go. Its away from the city, there's only one restaurant- inside the resort- and the meals are pricey. its being away from the city makes it more expensive. You have to pay 500 pesos one way via pump boat to Dapa. They dont have free transfer service for their customers from port to resort. The tour packages they offer are so much more expensive also. The tree house we occupied doesnt have its own CR, the CR is few meters away frm the room, its not cleaned, we still have to ask for electric fan, it wasnt properly maintained. There are alot of spiders in the room. We kept cleaning our beds from insect wings, lizard poop, and dust. The whole resort is dark by 6pm. You have to depend on the moonligt and room lights, and cellphone flashlights for light. But we had fun in siargao, talk to the locals at Dapa port, they are helpful.

My little daughter and I had such an amazing new year time at Tarzan's. It was by far the best place to start the year. So much beauty and peace. Also super delicious food and the spectacular attention of the owners. We loved the place and can't wait to comeback !
