center located, Tibetan family style, good taste of milktea, a gazebo with view of the Potala Place

when we first time steped into the "home"-tashitakge hotel,my friend and i loved this tibetan family style hotel immediately. it's small but warm. people travel tibet gather here to chat on travel tips in the small yard. it locates very close to the jakhang temple, only takes 5 minuters by walk. the manager, mrs. xu is very nice and helpful.finally, specally recommend the milk tea from hotel's kitchen ,better than the famous one in "guang ming street", personal taste.

Great Design, Excellent Location, Clean Room

Tashitakge Hotel is one of the cleanest room we stayed through out the trip in Tibet, the toilet is very clean and water pressure is good. Linen and bed is comfortable and the staffs are really helpful and friendly. The best of all is the location of the hotel, only 2 minutes walk to Bahkor Street where the central of attraction is in Tibet city. Many good restaurants nearby all within walking distance.

    Don't expect too much.”

    Prime location. Good staff. Price.

First off, this is probably among the cheaper hotels in Lhasa where foreigners are permitted to stay at. If price is a consideration and you don't hold a Chinese ID, you can go ahead and book it. Positive things include friendly staff and practically walking distance to the Jokhang Temple / Dazhao Si. The place is somewhat hidden in an alley, but safety really isn't of much concern in Lhasa. Jiangsu Road is the main throughfare and a quick stroll (2 alley blocks) away. Compared to hotels in Lhasa where only Chinese are permitted, you're likely overpaying substantially. Minimal room facilities, with heating provided by a heated mattress pad and a stand-up radiant heater lamp. Bearable, but closer to a Motel 6 than a Hampton Inn. However, as a foreigner, Tashitakge is likely your best choice for value.

A quiet hotel near the old city”

The hotel is located in an alley but which is walking distance from the main road. The Barkhor Market is also very accessible from the hotel. Penny, the manager, speaks very good English and provided us very useful information about Lhasa, helped us go around the town and contact our tour guides. Our room is large and the comfort room is clean and spacious. Heater and humidifier machines are available in our room but no oxygen Breakfast is simple and varied everyday and served at the top floor which afforded a good view of Potala Palace.. Overall, the hotel is a very good base for anyone staying in Lhasa for a few days.

    Fun hotel with great location”

close to to the local markets, warm beds, friendly staff

Tashitakge Hotel is located on an alley - we had to walk in a block, then climb stairs to our rooms - so don't come heavily laden. We came in on Christmas Eve, and promptly got invited to the family Christmas party in the lobby - a warm welcome. The decor is Tibetan; the beds felt very clean, and had electric heaters, a heavy duvet and blanket. Main drawbacks for us were: 1) inadequate lighting for reading; 2) the shower is the entire bathroom, so we had to take out the toilet paper and towels to keep them from getting wet, then we had a puddle on the floor that wouldn't drain properly.

    Lhasa Old City Tibetan charm”

Great position, beautifully decorated and clean with Potala view rooftop terrace

This hotel is in a great position just one street from the Barkhor and Johkang. This area has all the culture, shops and restaurants in the beautiful Old City. The owner is helpful and easy going and, for the very expensive, city of Lhasa this is a great budget choice. The rooftop terrace is a major plus and the hotel and rooms are delightfully comfortable and well decorated. Breakfast is standard, and the rooms on the second floor a little dark. Good free WiFi and probably the only complaint being the on again, off again solar hot water, but a total pleasure to stay here

Lhasa, wonderful place... loved that hotel, in a very nice area of the old town, 5 min walk to Jokhang temple and pilgrimage circle walk...all restaurants are nearby...located in a small street away from the hassle and noise. My only complain, is that I forgot a very dear necklace of mine in the room, and was not able to get it back, when the manager told me she would send it to me from California, and did not answer my emails.

Good location, friendly and trustful staff, comfortable hotel

I am very happy with my stay in Tashitake hotel. The most impression was the first night when we arrived Lhasa, due to the delay flight from Chengdu, we finally delayed for 3 hours and arrived the hotel at One clock in midnight. When we arrived the hotel and going to open the main door, the lady manager was there waiting for us with her smile and warmness welcome since she checked the flight and knew that we will late so she was waiting for our coming. We felt so secure and warm. The hotel itself is in a good location but quiet since it is not near the main road with car noise. There are nice restaurant and small shops near the hotel, very good for the staying and eating. Also, the room is clean with heater so it is also good to go in winter. WIFI signal was good in my room in 4th floor and my brother room in 2nd floor. The price was reasonable at that time even it was a peak season in the mid August when we were there.

The location can’t be better, only a block away from Barkhor street and minutes to the POTALA Palace by taxi ( US$ 2 ) Around you will find many convenience stores, Restaurants and a Pharmacy next door. The building Is old and attractive. The interior have been renovated with mármol floors and beautiful hand painted Tibetan designs. The room are the same, beautiful to the last detail, large with a very nice bathroom, large T.V. with great selection of English channels. The best part was the service. The staff very friendly, always smiling and ready to help with any question. They also have an oxígeno machine available 24 hrs. for any guest suffering from attitude sickness. The free breakfast was clean, fresh and with different items everyday. Just by been inside the Hotel I felt like in Tibet and I will recommend it to anybody. It is a lot more enjoyable than an expensive 5 Stars Hotel.

    Very pleasant stay. ”

Charming and very helpful hotel front desk staff (Penny)

newly-renovated, this is a gem of a boutique hotel. there is a restaurant on the top floor, serving very reasonably priced food. breakfast was included, and was satisfactory. the free wifi is up to 2mb/sec early in the morning and laste at night - slows down during the evening - and there is a powerful wifi repeater in the atrium which ensures a strong signal. plenty of power sockets in the rooms. all the rooms have hand-painted decorative walls and there is a very unique locking system for the rooms. rooms were a little cold (november) - the hotel needs to provide better heating. location is excellent - just around the corner from the jokhang temple.

A warm & clean hotel. A tasty "sweet tea" for welcome drink. love it. The room is spacious & clean. The breakfast is delicious. The hotel staff are friendly & smilely. the 24-hr reception services is nice. The view from the roof is good. The hotel is centrally located, near to restaurants & market. Next to Johkang district; lovely looking hotel; friendly English speaking staff; good wifi signal

The hotel is conveniently sited within the Johkang district making food and shopping within easy reach. The rooms are clean and have a rustic charm. Though small, they arent too cramped. Privacy for couples may however be a problem. The hot water and water pressure is adequate. Food at the hotel is ok if you're feeling lazy in which case you might want to take it at rooftop area and take in the view of Potala Palace at the same time. But you can find cheaper and/or better fare in the Johkang district. The management is now a lady from Chengdu, China.

    Location, terrace, hotel owner

The room I stayed at was very basic, but hotels have lower standards. My room was on the ground floor and felt slightly stuffy and humid.however, the owner was extremely nice and helpful. She gave me lots of travel advice and information and she made my stay very personal. But the rest of the staff were not as friendly and have no clue about anything I asked about. The roof top terrace was highlight of the hotel. It was devine to spend time there at sunset. With a cup of tea and a book, really great way to spend time. But apart from myself, no other guests seemed to take advantage of the rooftop, which was a shame.
