Private onsen with half sliding window”
The stay is unique as it is a modern Japanese ryokan. If you would like to have a private onsen, you have to come here to experience the beauty of this hotel. We are here 22 to 23 Dec 2022 of which it was heavily snow in Beppu which was rare. Imagine soak in private onsen with half open full height window wheee the snow flakes on your face….amazing memories! The reception close at 9pm, but you can still reach then over the phone in case you are late for a reason. We will return for sure.

Lovely place with great staff”
Had a great stay here. Room was well designed and the bath was excellent. Included casual kaiseki dinner was good quality and drinks prices were very reasonable. Breakfast very nice. The whole place was spotless and the staff were very friendly, especially Maria-san, who looked after us with her excellent English. Would stay there again.

The hotel is located in this little alley way up on the hill but signs are clear. There is free parking. The design of the hotel is very minimalistic and modern. The room is very spacious and has its own onsen. The view is great looking over Beppu city.

This is my second time staying at terrace garden midoubaru. The staffs were so friendly and we enjoyed the food so much. The portions were the most generous among all onsen ryokan I stayed. Thank you so much and we will definitely come back next time.

Highly recommend this modern ryokan. As soon as you enter the lobby, you will feel very calm and relaxed. Our room was very spacious and overlooked the town of Beppu and the private hot spring bath was amazing. Access is a little confusing the first time but well worth it when you arrive. Breakfast equally matches the beautiful view and ambience. Thank you Terrace Midoubaru for a memorable stay, we will be back!

We had a wonderful time here at Terrace Midoubaru. We were accompanied by a friendly staff who took care of our checkin, room introduction, facility introduction, our dinner and our breakfast. It was a highly tailored service that impressed us a lot. The architecture design was a mix of contemporary and traditional timber structure. The lobby featured a full height glass that framed the breath-taking view of Beppu. Food was amazing and full of surprises. Meticulously cooked and presented, impeccable.

Hotel that lives up the pictures”
When you step into the hotel, it’s almost as nice as the pictures that are online. I love the modern/traditional fusion Japanese design of the hotel and the cleanliness of the hotel. Things also look very new, so we felt very comfortable using all the facilities at the hotel and everything in the room. I also love the view of Beppu from the hotel/hotel room(I got a 2nd floor room). But the only downside of having the nice view is the hotel is up on a hill and you have to drive or take taxi to the there. The hotel is around 5-10mins to the town, and I had a rental car, so it was not really a problem for me.
