Well-appointed stay in unbeatable location”
Let's not beat around the bush, the hotel is quite dated, with a retro early-00s feel that will appeal to older guests more than a younger crowd. That said, it retains a stately atmosphere, aided by the spaciousness of its rooms and shared facilities. It's hard to beat its location and mountain views. The beds were adequate but we had to call and request extra pillows to make a comfortable sleeping experience. The bathrooms are huge with great bathtubs and luxurious branded amenities. We stayed on a windy night, and there was something loose rattling all night on the building's exterior. Although we didn't get chance to use it, the pool looked stunning. We would stay again.

Been coming here for years but it's getting tired now”
Stayed for 4 nights. The staff are very pleasant people but just not terribly good at getting the basics right. They ran out of hot food at their $39 pp.breakfast on day 1 and it took them 30 mins to replenish. They kept forgotting people's drinks or food, got orders entirely wrong. I know this because the tables at breakfast are so close to eachother so I got to listen to all the angst and complaining of everyone else. I watched one couple storm out without finishing and another couple next to me sent their food AND drinks back 3 times...and because the staff were so stressed they also forgot my coffee but I didn't have it so bad as the other patrons. Then they forgot to clean our room on day 3. When I rang and asked for some fresh towels and some water as I'd given up on them coming to do actually do a service, it took them 2 hrs and 2 additional phone calls to reception to sort just that out. Also please note the average food is very overpriced here at the lounge. $35 for a tuna salad, of $40 for meagre fish and chips. Plus there is a $10 tray charge to room. And $8 for a coffee? Yikes. The affiliated restaurants Darleys and Echoes are very good but multiple the above food by 3 at least for that experience. And the room...also in dire need of refurbish. The carpet is threadbare, showers are ancient so hard to get the hot water working. The power points blew on both sides of our bed when we turned on the lamps on the third night. The beds are so old and rickety with uncomfortable metal bar head rests. Its probably supposed to be charming but you cant sit up properly on the bed. The sheets are theadbare and don't fit on the king-size bed (which is 2 singles smooshed together) so you can see the scary old mattress underneath as the sheets are too short. I regret spending so much money to stay here and so disappointed it's gone downhill since we were last here a year or so ago. On the plus sides the spa is wonderful, as is the indoor pool and the bar areas, reading rooms and billiards rooms are all lovely.

A memorable trip to blue mountains”
During our trip to the Blue Mountains, we had the pleasure of staying in a deluxe view room at Lilianfels Resort & Spa for three nights. Despite the less-than-ideal weather during our stay, it was a memorable experience. The resort itself is definitely worth staying at. Here are some pros and cons of our stay: Pros: - The location is excellent. The interior is equally beautiful. Our room was very cozy. The entire place was spotlessly clean. The views from the Echoes restaurant were absolutely amazing. We also enjoyed delicious coffee and brownies. Cons: - While the buffet breakfast was lovely, the same items were served daily. It would have been nice to have a bit more variety. Unfortunately, our deluxe view room did not have a clear view as it was partially obstructed. Overall, Lilianfels Blue Mountain Resort & Spa is a lovely resort and I would highly recommend it.

Mountains of luxury”
Old school proper hotel with comfy beds, large rooms, cosy bathrobes and perfectly curated period decor. The lounge bar is stunning. The breakfast buffet could do with an update. A more modern approach would refresh. And no Netflix or any on demand TV in the rooms? I’d think that would be a given in rooms this price (especially appreciated for a rainy few days in the mountains). Spotlessly clean and had that luxe feel . A tad tired in things that don’t really matter (bathroom fittings and toiletries, slightly scratchy towels and obviously overstretched reception staff who do a wonderful job under pressure… thank you!). The guests notice.
