Didn’t get the room as advertised on the website. It was a converted attic room which was pretty uncomfortable for me as I am 6ft 5in. Yes there was a 4 poster bed, a bed with 4 large poles on it!, Wifi also was not effective and didn’t work in the room. Appreciate it was valentines night, but I couldn’t get a meal at the restaurant and I wasn’t informed that the restaurant was full/unavailable for dinner when I booked in. Having said this, it was a nice hotel, clean and the breakfast was really good. I do think that when you book through these 3rd party websites, you end up feeling like you are getting given the room on a ‘what’s left/fill up’ basis’.

An interesting ' Oldie Worldly ' hotel with lots of character and charm but short on facilities. But set in an old Cotswold town its ideal for a short break.

Lovely secluded room in the courtyard, parking right outside. Perfect location in centre of town and on the boundary of Blenheim palace.

What can I say, very good location, place and staff were very accommodating. Offering me a charger as I left mine at home, also even when we said the shower was filling up, dealt with it immediately.

charming room overlooking a quiet churchyard ”

excellent, king-sized bed. old stone walls with cottage windows. quiet location and pretty aspect. coffee machine in room is great. and bathroom really clean. Buffet breakfast was better than average. the restaurant (and all the buildings) are old in an Historic way and would suit folk who enjoy a proper Old English feel. Parking costs a tenner. (and thats not cheap!)

Perfect for an Overnight Stay and Visiting Blenheim Palace the Next Day”

Was very impressed with the hotel, hotel room, facilities and staff. Blenheim Palace was a short walk from the hotel so we left the car at the hotel and walked there after checking out early the next day - that was an excellent suggestion by the hotel staff (as there were cars queuing to get onto the Blenheim Palace grounds!) Will definitely come here again :)

Could not fault this hotel in any way. Did not eat breakfast or dinner as we only ever eat cereal and there are more interesting and cheaper restaurants in the town. Book as far in advance as possible we paid 108 foe 303 room.

Dinner was expensive. Boutique feel at the hotel where staff double up. Small entrance to parking hence you may missed it if it's your first time to the hotel. It's great hotel for unique experience

Real English hotel with style”

Clean quaint and PROPER ENGLISH.. Really enjoyed our stay and breakfast is a delight to be actually served..5 mins stroll to the palace gates.Enter the car park via the rear entrance as the front is a real coach entrance not modern low car..really enjoyed..

Our stay was welcomed by friendly staff. Our room was cosy with lovely bed sheets and bath towels. However waking up at midnight to the sound of the fire alarm wasn't very pleasant! There was a letter of apology but thought they could have done more to please the guests who had to wake up early the next day.

Splendid Anniversary Stay”

Excellent stay once we had changed the room allocated to us. Room 27 was on the top floor , with a lack of hanging space , small bathroom and a view of the back metal stairs. The staff member soon reallocated us a much nicer room and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Bear.
