Simply heaven ”
The place is amazing, the staff are all very kind and friendly, like to help and always around. The view is breath taking, the room is big, comfortable and very clean. We were in our honeymoon and it definitely felt like it. The breakfast is very good and tasty and the menu for the rest of the day offers good food (a bit expensive but not too much). The transportation to the island and back was very easy and good. The only thing that you should know is that some of the rooms are on the cliff side and there are around 100 stairs to get to your room (and no other way). If you don’t want to spend too much money on food you should bring with you some snacks and alcohol. Definitely recommended place!
awesome views great location”
I was worried about this place after booking an then seeing the reviews so here's my positives and improvements. Positives Beach Villa - Amazing with an outstanding view, décor is excellent and was very clean with nice little extra's Food- Food was good not outstanding but good Staff - Excellent Beach - Clean well kept , calm waters with good snorkeling Spirit beer wine - None but you can bring your own ( I thought this was a plus) Improvements Drinks service on the beach with staff being proactive in offering drinks SPA - Hmmm this needs a lot of improvement, salt scrub felt like I was being sandpapered. If your aim is to use the spa a lot I would say this is not the place for you. I have seen a lot of negative reviews, yes the place is a little on the expensive side, but you are paying for the view the beach and piece and quite in an amazing environment, if you are expecting two season standards this is not the place for you. overall I thought this place was great.
Amazing place like Shangri-la”
Take 25 mins with speed boat to the resort. It may be no more than 20 rooms so that guests are not many and you can have vocation with high quality. Food is great, beach is so beautiful and you can get to another deserted beach by kayak. Scenery under the sea is so impressive and we dive everyday. Room is spacious, bed is comfy and staffs are very helpful and well-trainer.
Amazing place for honeymoon”
Even though the communication before arrival was not pleasant, the whole time at the hotel was nice. A few things to highlight— 1. It’s a good spot for sunrise 2. Kayaking and snorkeling were fun activity 3. Two helpers accompanied us for hiking, which was cool. 4. They change menu between lunch and dinner.
Not as expected ”
Lots of Insects. No events. Staff not coordinate to find solutions It was boring Other hotel provide a complementary trips and all food inclusive with wonderful beach I didn't recommend this hotel at all Really worst experience with this hotel
Our stay at this hotel was really pleasant! We booked a bungalow on the beach which was perfect to catch the sunrise every single morning. You don’t even have to get out of your bed to admire the view. Our room was incredibly big, well furnished and clean. I particularly really enjoyed the infinity pool with ocean view. Almost always empty so you get to have it for yourself! During our stay we got to use the free kayak to go explore around. We also snorkeled on the beach, it’s full of beautiful fishes and coral. We also paid for an hour massage at the spa which was way more expensive than in town so we where expecting to have an amazing time there but it was not really particularly good and my husband said it was too rough on the shoulders and woke up the next day with rash all over his body due to the oil. So I won’t really recommend it. The food at the restaurant is good and prices are reasonable. For breakfast they served a buffet with a lot of salty and sweet food, you will for sure find something you like! We of course enjoyed our stay there really much, however we had certain expectations regarding the level of service given by the personnel and were really disappointed. We also had to ask for anything we wanted, when coming at the restaurant we always had to call the server to get a menu even though they saw that we just arrived. There is 5 people at the little bungalow at the beach which contains the towel for the pool and the beach, they sit around looking at people. even though they see you using the chair at the beach or the pool, nobody proposed to give you a towel, you always have to ask for it! This shouldn’t be like this! But I will still recommend to stay here because we had a good experience there!
How this place gets a 4.5 I’ll never know?! It’s the worst place we’ve ever stayed based on our overall experience. Masquerading as a luxury resort this place is nothing more than a seriously expensive, luxury roomed, prison. They charge you inflated prices for absolutely everything, including leaving the island. Which you are only allowed to use their staff for. It’s a construction site with no facilities including sun beds!? There wasn’t enough for their guests. There wasn’t enough kayaks. Trips from the island were super expensive. Staff were pleasant, but very unhelpful and obviously unhappy due to the terrible management. We had a frustrating and incredibly disappointing experience. Don’t stay here. Go to Miniloc instead, it’s amazing and exactly as you expect to be treated when paying for a resort like this. It’s everything Matinloc should be!!
Amazing and exclusive”
Super helpful and lovely staff. Amazing rooms with fantastic attention to detail (even nespresso!). Gorgeous white sand beach with amazing snorkeling just out in front. Lovely infinity pool looking over the Bacuit islands. Beautiful kayaking to the sand bar and small beaches nearby. Forest garden setting with salt water pool and occasional monkey visits simply stunning. Amazing full option breakfast. Wonderful stay, everything was perfect.
Overall Experience is Majestic”
It was a majestic experience to sum it up. From the moment they pick us in ElNido to the resort, we were really impressed. The staff were friendly, the terrace suite room were beautiful, the sunrise and sunset were lovely. We also did hill trekking and kayaking to their sand bar beach. It was awesome. Thank you matinloc resort for the wonderful experience.
Very pleasant stay from start to end”
Staff called one day prior to confirm pickup at airport. Warm welcome at resort. Nice spacious rooms. Hi speed wifi everywhere, even on private beach. Excellent island hopping led by experienced staff. On last day reception coordinated pickup at port with our next hotel. Very thoughtful. We saw dolphins swimming near resort. Nice bonus.
Staff were Excellent n every minute addressed our needs”
Just a small amount of attention to cleaning the rooms but otherwise a very wonderful time . Thx
Excellent resort & location: ALL the employees were very friendly, the best I have ever experienced, we were well taken cared-off, the island hope tour very exclusive and worth it. Safety at all times was paramount during our whole stay. Incredible amount of beautiful fish at the beach resort, and the nearby beach; good snorkeling. For what I have read, the food has improved; I can understand that its remote location does not allow to have a menu like in a Ritz hotel, but it could be better: fresh variety from local fruits would be great, plus some croissants and cheese during breakfast will make it better...must keep improving. We were surprised by the wonderful of the villas, that were not well advertised, like the one on top of a tree, the ones in the middle of a mountain the jungle, with a funicular railway to get there...it should be better advertised, and emphasized. Looking forward to go again! Thanks to all for a wonderful time!
Loved every bit of our stay here. The boat to the island was safe and smooth. We had a room with beach and sea views in clean, gorgeous accommodations. We we're gifted a surprise for Christmas Eve dinner with a delicious buffet including lobster and grilled tenderloin amongst many other yummies and it was INCLUDED! Also there was live acoustic music and a free cultural dance celebration after dinner: Perfect night! Free kayaks and snorkels to a local beach, and great views, hiking and the food was memorable in a great way!
Last option if you don’t have reservations on other islands ”
I spoke with many other travelers who stayed at the Matinloc resort, we were all there because all the other islands were booked up. Don’t get me wrong, the island is gorgeous, the staff are friendly, and the rooms were ok. But value for money is low. I paid for the mountain villa the same amount I would pay for Le Maurice in Paris on fashion week. But the shower head has low water pressure. The stop of the jacuzzi was rusty. The food is quite bland and subpar although we are paying Tokyo prices. The excisions are double to triple to those in El Nido town and we had to pay for transfer from and to the airport. The four other islands had their meals included with the room, airport transfer included and apparently lots of other activities when the weather is bad (December is typhoon season apparently but they won’t tell the travelers on their Xmas break). In conclusion, this will be a last resort if you cannot book other islands in El Nido.
Beautiful resort. Staff is great. Make you read their website before you book. They don't sell alcohol (you can bring your own). Its on a remote island, theres no way to get back after 5pm and the boat shuttle to town is not guaranteed
The staff were amazing. Very good tours and guides. Food was really nice despite some other negative reviews we found it great. Bring your own wine/alcohol and you can take it into the restaurant free.
Total waste of money.....it is no better then a 2 star”
Onky good thing is the location and the lifeguard Alan was extremely helpful. The experience was a disaster from the word go. The pickup lady at airport was waiting outside whike pickup for all ither hoteks was waiting in arrival area hence we had to ask other hotel guides for help. The boat also was a regular small speed boat ie not the boat or the boat captain was in matinloc jersey. They did not have even a life jacket for a 20min journey for my 3 year old. room view was also super dissapointing we booked was garden view which basically had 1 tree hence We also checked other rooms to pay and upgrade however they were equally disappointing. The towels were old and colour faded. The shower gel shampoo etc were of pooor quality. The breakfast was a disaster with limited selection of fruits and no vegetarian options. There was no area for kids to play either. All in all the entire experience was a disaster and absolute waste of money.
Beautiful location, beautiful resort, perfect for a couple of days. We stayed for 4 days and it was lovely. The only criticism we have is the cleaning of the comum areas where the rooms are located, which is a bit poor considering the money we were paying and they should probably review the quality of their pizzas that were flooded with cheese making it a bit too... much. Other that that, it’s beautiful and the coral around the island is the most alive we’ve seen in our trip ( el Nido and Bohol before). I would definitely go back anytime.
Great overall... except the dining experience needs much improvement!”
The resort is beautiful overall. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The beach front villa is what made the trip worthwhile... located right in front of the sand and marvelous beach; and conveniently located next to all of the resort's facilities... well worth the extra money, rather than being in a room where you would have to walk several flights of stairs/steps. My only negative critique is the execution of the restaurant. There is only one restaurant option for the entire resort, and the execution of the chef is quite poor for a resort of this caliber, and fails in comparison with other resorts of this type of exclusivity. I would expect higher attention to detail in terms of the chef's offerings. Steaks and lobsters were prepared with incorrect doneness, as well as unacceptable waiting times for items being served. The restaurant must be reminded that it needs to be graded on a much higher standard if it wants to be an "international" resort.
