Transfer Notice: Upon arrival at Velana International Airport, the property's representative will be waiting for guests at the Arrival Hall or airport counter number D20.
Transfer price is not included in the room rates and must be paid directly to the property.

Infants below 2 years old will not be charged for domestic flight transfer unless a separate seat is requested.

To reach Royal Island Resort & Spa on the same day, guests must arrive at Male International Airport before 17:00 local Male time. Kindly note the property cannot organize departure domestic flight transfers for international flights which depart prior to 0900 hours local Male time. The hotel requires complete flight details, full names and date of birth (as passports) of all guests by 4 days (96 hours). If provided later than 96 hours, same-day connections cannot be guaranteed.
In case flight details are not received in this time frame hotel may not be able to arrange the best connecting transfers to the resort.
To reach the property on the same day, guests must arrive at Velana International Airport before 1700 hrs local Male time.
Based on tax regulation, all guests are committed to the green tax surcharge of USD 12 per person.
Tax for infants is not included in the property reservation cost and will be collected by the property upon check-in.
Please note that the property has a mandatory Gala Dinner on December 24 and 31.
All charges are to be invoiced by the property directly.

Decent 3-star family resort but avoid if you want anything beyond that”
WARNING: outside bathrooms + mosquito repellent/smoke from burning leaves = RESPIRATORY INFLAMMATIONS/IRRITATION! A few pros: A plus is the buffet which is varied, good quality (though very oily and ice cream is left to melt), has a live counter, and almost every day, at least one vegan protein dish (especially the Indian daal dishes were good). There are also some fun facilities like table tennis, a snooker table and a pool billard table. A real highlight was a lot of live music, especially a really talented acoustic guitar and singer duo who give unique renditions of a wide range of genres (not only pop music). The cleaning team is also very good and adjusted to our time preferences. Pandi and Abdulla were great waters and the staff member cutting fruit was also friendly. MANY CONS: The resort has open air bathrooms which has a lot of negative consequences, such as four or five mosquito bites every time you go to the bathroom, outside air seeping into the villa, often switching between hot and cold air etc. For some reason, the resort has a lot of mosquitoes, not only in the villas but also in the buffet area (so expect getting bitten dozens of times a day). For three or so hours every night, they also burn leaves... This really mars one of the unique strengths of the Maldives which is its pristine nature. Other issues: they make a difference between "full board" (includes only water, dip tea and powder coffee) and "all inclusive". For full board, ridiculously high prices charged for anything additional. Also because the resort is all inclusive, prices for massages and excursions are exorbitant. The all inclusive model also means customer service is non-existent, other than Abdulla and Pandi who are fantastic waiters (our customer service host Sonia also helped us over WhatsApp to communicate with the cleaning team but their role is more to sell activities). Another issue was that the food is very oily and they leave the ice cream out to melt which gave us an upset stomach twice...Overall, this is an affordable 3-star family resort. Another major problem: much of the coral reef is bleached and the house reef only starts about fifty metres out, just before the sheer drop to the ocean floor (so it's very inaccessible and the current is high). You can nonetheless see many tropical fish, sharks and in other places, also stingrays. However, very few vibrant and colourful corals. Getting to and from the resort was also very difficult and leaving it was a nightmare: after you arrive in Male, you have to wait for two hours for a domestic 20 minute propeller flight, then take a five minute bus ride and a 15 minute boat ride. Not great after a 10 hour international flight, plus the resort charges 400 USD per person for this domestic travel (again, highly overpriced). Leaving the resort, there was only one domestic flight, so we had to leave at 4am(!), when our international return flight was at 11am...we go through security, wait at the gate for 1 hour, only for them to say that our 6:50am flight is moved to 8am. Then, they say actually, that flight is cancelled and we're going on a speedboat (confusion as to whether it's all passengers or some); eventually we all get on a bus again, go to an old boat that is emitting tons of petrol fumes, go to another island (Dusit Thani) where we're not informed of anything. After asking the crew after 10 minutes, they say we're waiting for something else...it turns out, it's a seaplane...it arrived at 8:25am (!)...so had they just kept the 8am flight, we would have left much earlier! The seaplane is loud, extremely small and hot. After arriving at Male Airport, for some reason some of us are taken for a 10-minute walk left, others to the right...then, waiting for 20 minutes for our luggage to arrive...overall, it would have been better to go with the normal flight at 8am or to plan it such in advance that we go with the boat to a seaplane, then we could have woken up much later (not 4am!!) a

There is so much I would like to say about this incredible Island... From the moment we arrived, there was someone waiting to take us to the local check in desk. After a very easy 20 minute flight with Villa air we arrived at the local airport and were then transferred to the speed boat. 15 minutes later on a very special speed boat journey we arrived at the island. We were immediately greeted by incredible staff and had our own member who explained everything and took us to our villa. We were also given fresh towels and a smoothie as we arrived which was a wonderful touch after a long journey from Moscow on a not so comfortable Aeroflot journey. We were all inclusive during our time and I would recommend anyone who intends to drink to do the same as the prices were expensive for drinks (£10 smoothies and beers), but they have to make money and we read about the prices beforehand and all inclusive gave us access to pretty much everything we wanted. It was definitely value for money considering what we ate and drank during our time. Other benefits of all inclusive included unlimited access to snorkeling equipment and kayaks. free food and drinks in mini bar which were refilled everyday (apart from shorts in our mini bar but we were informed without needing to mention this.) They provided us with beer, wine, coca-cola, mango juice and nuts everyday. Also as we stayed for longer than 6 days we were given a free meal at the al-la carte restaurant which was one of the best meals we've ever eaten. Drinks were not included and 3 items on the menu such as Waygu steak and lobster also were not available but we fully understood why. That didn't stop us from being treated to an incredible 3 course meal which included surf and turf (would normally be £65) and my other steak (which was priced at £50). So we were overjoyed with our selection and did not mind paying for some delicious cocktails. Another benefit of staying more than 6 days was a free sunset fishing trip which
NOT All-Inclusive”
It is advertised as "Royal Island Premium All-Inclusive Resort at Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve" - being "all inclusive" is the MAJOR reason for making reservation at this resort. However, I arrive and am told - 'oh no, this is not all-inclusive'. So I feel lied to and swindled into a 'bait and switch scheme'. Arrived thinking I would have all-inclusive, since that's how it presents itself... instead, for drinks, i was offered Water, coffee or tea. Dinner - water. If wanted juice, other than for breakfast, it would have been charged. Because of the 'bait-and-switch' swindle, and false advertising is the reason I would never recommend this location.
