Luxurious and amazing service”
Firstly the hotel itself was gorgeous. Was a beautifully conserved colonial French building, fully equipped with the modern amenities of a 5-star hotel. Very much the “Raffles Hotel” of Laos. The service was equally amazing. All the staff spoke English, were polite, patient, had plenty of initiative and were proactive in their service, but were equally respectful of privacy. We always felt like we were in safe hands, while in the hotel. The food was fantastic too, and while pricy, was a treat. It was nicely located in the centre of the city. And only 10 minutes from the airport. I think our trip to Laos was mostly made, by the time spent in Settha Palace.

I stay in this hotel 15 years ago as part of a tour so wanted to see if it was still as good. The first room we were put in was outside entrance and a little small (105), but we asked if we could move and the manager was more than helpful and we were moved inside to a much better room 107 many thanks. Very attentive service at the pool and really nice breakfast.

Old world charm”
Lovely old building with a nice pool. Excellent restoration and the hotel has a very comfortable feel. The staff are outstanding very helpful and happy.

Great boutique colonial hotel in the centre of town”
Renovated French colonial hotel with great French charm. Not a party hotel and maybe not a business hotel but ideally located for touring Vientiane as most sights are within walking distance. Good bar and restaurant in-house and a nice pool in the garden. They told me there is also a gym! Breakfast buffet was average in terms of selection but coffee was acceptable. Bed was comfortable. TV maybe too small but reasonable selection of channels/languages.

Living on borrowed time”
The Sethha Palace is living on its reputation as a grand dame in Vientiane. It is a period property in nice grounds, but the rooms are showing their age. If you value a garden and pool area to sit in, as we did, then it is worth considering. Otherwise I would suggest trying some of the newer arrivals in town. Restaurant was expensive and disappointing.

Nice hotel but ...”
The hotel has a nice pool and staff. But that is all. The room condition was terrible. I had trouble with lots of moskitos during my all staying there.

Colonial grandeur”
This is one of my all time favorite hotels worldwide for more than twenty years. The staff and service are top notch. Management does need to refurbish the upholstery and curtains as they are showing their age and wear. Given some attention to these worn elements, the property would once again regain its understated elegance and beauty. This is not the hotel for those who prefer modern design.
