Smile House is not just a name, the friends here are always smiling. I never thought that staying in a hotel would be the most enjoyable thing for me during my 3 weeks in Thailand. I was lucky to book this guesthouse hotel through Anantara. I really like Thailand and come almost every year because Beijing's winter is very cold, especially during the Spring Festival. So, this year I decided to come to Thailand again and luckily landed at "Smile House". It was the hotel reviews that attracted me to book, so I will continue this tradition and write down my feelings to attract future guests. It is a beautiful, elegant, and quiet courtyard. The room is very clean and tidy, it is the best one I have stayed in among the 50+ hotels in Thailand, no doubt. The furniture is a combination of Chinese and Western styles, the air conditioning is very powerful, cool but without wind. (I'm sure you have suffered from the cold air blowing the room very cool in Thailand, but you caught a cold or fever.) The mattress and pillows are neither soft nor hard, very comfortable. If you want to charge your phone, you can always find a socket in the place you most want, next to the bed, next to the sofa, or even on the balcony. The lighting inside and outside the house allows you to rest well and also enhances your appetite. The food at "Smile House" is very delicious. The environment, setting, and the lighting at night will double your dining pleasure. The hotel owner is called David, he is very cool, a considerate and caring guy. He seems to know what you need and can always give you satisfactory information. I am now back in Beijing but have decided to come again next year.

The reviews I saw regarding the food here are correct: this is the best food on the island by far, and probably some of the best in Thailand. I've not had better, anyway. The love of detail is evident by the presentation and taste of the dishes. Everybody in Thailand cooks - at least that's the impression I got - Lek, who owns this place with her husband Dave, a great guy btw, is a professional chef. The difference is quite astonishing, even to a beginner level Thai foodie like myself. Freshness is guaranteed: during the low season, the owners close the restaurant in order to avoid food waste. While I applaud the initiative, I was devastated by the news - until I learned that house guests who stay here may order dinner in the morning. Which means that the ingredients will get bought fresh that day. The rooms are beautifully appointed with a large shower and a very efficient and very quiet air conditioner. I slept like a baby in the huge, comfortable bed. Unfortunately, Thai Smile Bungalows only have very few rooms available. My recommendation would be to reserve immediately if you see availability as it's unlikely to last.

This is one of the best places we have stayed in 2 years travelling. The bungalows are gorgeous, and set it a beautiful garden, it feels like a home away from home. Soft comfortable beds ( very usual in Thailand), lovely bedding, great shower, big balcony with lovely view. Even Beach towel and sarongs provided. 3 mins walk to beach. Trips transfers and scooters available from the owners. Dave Lec and their family are the nicest owners you are likely to meet. They cannot do enough for you and are super friendly. As if all that is not enough THE FOOD IS INCREDIBLE Lec cooks everything herself, we stayed 5days and would look forward to trying everything. We would not entertain eating anywhere else. It was all so scrummy. We were blown away by this family , the love care and pride in what they have achieved shines out. Thanks for all the chats. Thanks to all of you. See you in January

What makes this place different? The host is very caring and sociable, smart yet humble and down to earth. He makes sure everything is to satisfaction. The room is stunning, very modern considering this is all set up on an island. Bed is very comfortable, thick mattress. Bathroom is beautiful, AC works very well. Wifi is accessible all across from the rooms to the restaurant area. I didn't get to try the reputable delicious food this place is renowned for, as the chef was away, but the chef assistant did make some succulent breakfast. Super quiet, quite a bit off the road making the place ideal to relax. There are a number of cats in the gardens, some are very sociable, none are intrusive, fun to see around. The place is a bit down south of the island, but still very close to where it's "happening". Also to note the beaches further down are paradisiac, and far less crowded than the more popular ones found up north. Highly recommend!

You get a super warm welcome and the warmth and friendliness from all the staff continues throughout your stay! The food here is the best in the island and great prices especially compared to the food at the places along the beach. Even after i left the hotel I came back to eat and chat with the staff. Highly recommended as a place to come home to after a long day exploring the island. And a great place to start your day with a hearty delicious breakfast. Very quiet at night. Good ac. Very very clean. My only con was the limited privacy in the bungalows. They have big beautiful windows leading to the shared garden space. But if you like privacy while in your room you need to close the curtains. So you lose the nice views and only have a small stained glass window for natural light. If privacy & beautiful views at the same time are very important to you: come here for your meals but stay somewhere else. IF privacy is of little importance to you or you plan on spending most of your time out of your room than this place is absolutley perfect for you.
