i booked in agoda for only 4 dollars in one night and expected to be staying in a regular guesthouse with that price. turned out i made an excellent choice so i extended my stay fot two more nights... just few minutes walk from thamel, very nice staff, clean dorm room, big locker, good wifi connection, hot shower, blankets and towels provided, quite neighborhood and i booked a bus ticket to pokhara there at the cheapest price. love this place and i will be staying here on the holi festival

The manager Samil and Prem went way beyond their duties to ensure that my stay at the hotel was a stay that I would remember for years to come. From organising trips to information of the local area, their knowledge was exceptional. The staff at the hotel were also very, very polite and helpful in all matters and were also friendly. I was made to feel part of the Thamel Hotel family and this touched me deeply and is part of my memory of the first trip ever to Nepal, but not the last. When I do return on my next trip I will be staying at the hotel Thamel. It will be like going home to my friends.

Great vegetarian menu, amazing people and a warm hospitable vibe, I couldn't have asked for more. Before, after or even during (if your flight is cancelled ) trekking, Hotel Yog provided a relaxing atmosphere where you felt at home and free to be yourself. The staff are extremely knowledgeable about the area and are always willing to help you with your plans or travel. Im really going to miss this place, I've made some genuine friends and had some of the happiest days just watching the sun set. Thank you for having me, cant wait to come back next year.

If anyone would stay in Thamel for a couple days, Peace & Park is a suitable choice. It is located in centre of Thamel, which is a place for tourist staying. The hotel is really nice and clean. It also has a small garden, shaded by trees, with some small tables, you may find some peace here . The staff is enthusiastic, espesially the handsome Italian host :) I have just stayed for one day, then left for Bhaktapur, but I will come back after celebrating the Nepali New Year in Bhaktapur. Once again, don't hestitate to stay here. Just book and check in!

i like this guest house because of it is very close to shopping center. I stayed this guest house more then 15 times because of people are very friendly and manager San speaking Japanese so I feel like my home. I do a business here to buy a clothes and sell to Japan. They always help me to get it and they store my luggage. Mostly in Thamel no power but here is a janerater and if no power in the night time they turn on the power which is most important for me. They offer me always masala tea for free which is best hospitalities........ If you have a ticket problem manager san help you and offer very cheap price and he never charge over price. Once I booked chitwan tour from his office which is best service and hardly recommend you to stay landmark resort chitwan which cost 230$ for 2 night 3 day package programmed. Oh!!! Don't forget to stay in hotel family home if you go to pokhara and cost is 25$ with breakfast AC good deal...... I always recommend you Shree Tibet family guest house and manager dan surendra!!! first time to kathmandu and the staff offered a pick up service so it was cool, i was glad to meet the driver at the airport and asked him to drop me first to the tourism board to get my trekking permit (it was almost closed). he even lend me rupees as i havent exchanged my currencies to pay the permits. the last day i stayed i got to meet the owner, he was really friendly to all customers, right in the thamel but you get the silence at nite, so it was great!

Shree Lal Inn is located in Thamel, just 200 metres from Nursing Chowk and 4 km from Swayambhunath Stupa. The lodge provides simple accommodation, an in-house restaurant and a tour desk. Would definitely recommend Nomad to all the travelers. Located right in the center of Thamel (gets noisy sometimes but can still sleep through it) Close to good restaurants and cheap mountain gear shopping. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. They reply really fast to all the WhatsApp inquiries. Rooms are comfortable with loads of pillows and blankets, showers super hot. We haven’t tried the restaurant but there were always people eating there so must be pretty good to. We’ll stay there again on our next trip. Thank you!

I stayed at Hotel Himalaya Yoga in Thamel, Kathmandu for more than a week. Initially, I only booked for 2 nights. I came here because of a positive review from a Kathmandu Guide book. I extended my stay after the first 2 nights. I've been staying in this hotel for a week already. Will stay for a few more days before I head to India. These are the good things about this hotel: 1) the hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating. I had back problem. After my first night, I requested a better mattress. The hotel gladly gave me an almost new mattress. I was grateful. 2) WIFI is just important for downloading useful apps for traveling, like maps. Also great for booking air tickets and hotels, finding out tourist attractions etc. Their WIFI speed is 3 Mbits (most hotels are less than 1.5 Mbits in Thamel. I tested a few of them including restaurants). 3) Power outage in Nepal (locally, they call it "loading shedding) is common. No power means no electricity and no water (they need electricity to pump the water). At Hotel Himalaya Yoga, I never need to worry about the loading shedding schedule. I was able to take hot showers whenever I want. I could always charge up my phone and ipad anytime. I was free at this hotel! By the way, I stayed at two other places before coming to Hotel Himalaya Yoga. So I had experienced how inconvenient it was without hot water (or simply just water to flush the toilet) and electricity to charge devices). 4) Free yoga classes in the morning. 5) Great FREE big breakfast in the morning. I was shocked to receive the huge breakfast on my first morning. When I asked for an omelette, the chef honored my request agreeably! 6) The hotel keeps the toilet and common areas clean. 7) The hotel is very central, next to the Hot Breads Bakery (they have 50% on their bread after 9:30pm daily). And it is right across a big supermarket which has everything you need if you forget to bring something from your home country. Laundry serv

I loved my time at alobar1000. The staff are amazing, really welcoming and friendly and make an effort to learn your name and get to know you. The bathrooms are really clean with great hot showers. The rooftop is a really nice place to hang out and a good place to meet people. The food is really cheap and tasty and the location is very central. All in all the perfect place to stay in Thamel and amazing value for money. I’ll definitely be coming back!

We were not so sure how it's gonna be after the earthquake, but Thamel area is totally back to normal just without tourists. Our Stay in Hotel Norling has been awesome! Airport pick up was smooth and we were welcomed by staffs. Our room is very clean and the shower here are the best during our 3 months stay in India/Nepal. Nepal has electricity cut out but hotel seems to have their own generator so we had electricity and very strong wifi fro 24 hours. Clean linen, big fan, it was spot on for what we needed to relax from India trip and catch up with some work. We were actually able to work online unlike other part of Nepal and India. Only thing is that since we stay long, it will be great if hotel offers water refill with some cost, since we had to buy all plastic bottles to get drinking water from shops outside. Thank you so much for all staffs and especially manager Mr. Raji! I highly recommend to stay at this hotel.

I met the manager my first night in Nepal, he was extremely welcoming and professional, and I immediately switched guesthouse a to langsisha. It's location is superb - just a few minutes walk to durbar square, twenty minute from swayambunath, and a skip away from thamel. Super nice terrace to relax on and get away from the chaos of the street. I became good friends with the staff and stayed here every time if was in ktm. Would definitely recommend!!!!

Cozy and very comfortable room, with a wonderful atmosphere. Fast wifi, clean rooms and very good service. The hotel is in the best area of ​​the city on the outskirts of Tamel, where it was quiet and peaceful, unlike the central street. The price was also quite good for this area. The owner of the hotel was very kind and benevolent person, he told many interesting things about this city and helped to make a route for traveling through Nepal. I stayed 2 nights at Holyland Guesthouse. They gave me nice room with fan and good shower with hot water. The room and bathroom are clean, the location in Thamel area, not far from everywhere. The staff always ask me if I needed something, and they are helpful because I supposed to check out at twelve but they let me to stay for a while more longer without charge cause I have to wait for my flight in the evening. They also help me to find a taxi with a super good price to the airport. Thank you Holyland Guesthouse for the services! Actually just a same Main Street in Thamel. - Thamel Marg. The Google Maps information is correct: Thamel Marg, Kathmandu 44600, Nepal. Morning breakfast Good. 3 beds Family room is big, more than i imagine. Lobby frontdesk service good and friendly. Opposite the Hotel main entrance, there has 2 taxi standby anytime. There're kindness & friendly. Transporting fee are affordable too. Highly recommended! 2016-8-3 yyee

Last minute stumbled upon Yado240 guesthouse after finished trekking n turned out to be the best stay in Kathmandu. The owners are the cutest and sweetest couple i ever met, their hospitality shines through any expectation I had in mind. Cosy firm bed (great for my aching body), best breakfast even for vegetarian like me, great location and helpful services throughout my stay. Walking distance to explore both Ason market n Thamel sans the noise n dust. Will definitely stay here if I visit Kathmandu again! Highly recommended!

Love this hotel. We stayed at Hotel the Doors prior to our trekking adventure to ABC. The staff were super friendly and nice. They not only packed us breakfast since we had to take 7am bus to Pokhara but also walked us to the bus stop to show us which bus to get on. We were very happy with our stay and decided to return for few more nights when we returned from Pokhara. The location is great. It is only 5-10 mins walk to Thamel, but not as busy / chaotic in Thamel. Hotel the Doors have its own restaurant. Beer price is really fair compared with other restaurants and bars in Thamel. One small complaint is their hot water works only probably half of the time, and water pressure is inconsistent. Other than that, I would return to this hotel if I come back to Kathmandu again!

This hotel is good location. We finish all the shopping money just 100m right after left the hotel because of many good shops on this street. Service is good and Kesharp - Manager of this hotel is very friendly and he provide us all the good services not only in the hotel but also for the whole trip from Kathmandu to Lumbini then Pokhara and back to Kathmandu. We are team of 9 people and we hire a small van to have country tour, price is about 100$/person, for whole trip. In each city, you can ask dirver to take you to any place in the city for sightseeing. i suggest that do not use tourist bus, price is about 2000rupi/person from Kathmandu to Pokhara or Lumbini but they run very fast and look dirty. Road from Kathmandu to Lumbini is about 300km, of which there are 36km are under construction so it is very dusty, bad road and takes lots of time. We got 6 hours to pass that 36km because there was an accident ahead and they need to resolve. You can choose the other way to Lumbini that pass thour Pokhara, about 400km, road is better but 200km between Pokhara-Lumbini is silky :D, you may vomitte if you dont have good driver and van. Take the cash to Nepal as much as possible because using visa card will be charged 5% For shopping, you can buy things will dealing 50%, even 70% :D. Nepales people is very friendly, if they agree with the price they will sell, if not they are still happy. Thamel is under construction to make the better road during my stay so that i was very dusty. Next year if you come, Thamel will be cleaner and in 2018, road from Kathmandu to Lumbini is completed then you can have better trip. With love.

Stayed for 5 nights at Mount Fuji. Location is at the edge of Thamel with quiet neighbourhood. I feel very safe at Mount Fuji. Mr Sagar is very nice and friendly.He even upgraded my room. The breakfast is good. There is fruit, omlette and sauteed veggies on the side, toast with butter/jam, fruit juice and a choice of tea or nescafe.The rooms are spacious and clean. Definitely I will return to Mount Fuji on my next visit.
