    Very good despite faults”

I had a room i the old building, super balcony with super view to the mountains and super breakfast at the riverside terrace! Never mind leakage in the bathroom and poor staff English. Excellent location by the river and close to the town centre.

Best view from a room window”

We enjoyed our stay at the Thavisouk. The view from our room balcony was the best we had on this 22 hotel trip. The breakfast ok.It's a big hotel so there are lot's of tour groups coming and going but we didn't mind. I would return to the Thavisouk when next i visit vang vieng.

Good location, access to town without the noise!”

    Location and by the river

A group of 12 of us stayed. The rooms are ok, large but basic. Walk into town is about 10 minutes and there are some good walks around the river. You can sit and eat by the river. The whole town was pretty quiet when we stayed but I can imagine this is a quieter location than staying in the crazy centre.

    Big hotel With friendly Staff.”

Many rooms in four different buildings, I think. The room was clean and we had maid service every day. Check-in was a breeze and our luggage was carried for us by an able-bodied staff member. Breakfast was buffet style with excellent vegetarian choices. i could only say that maybe there could have been lids on the foods and something to keep it warm...the bread should also be covered for obvious reasons in hot, humid weather. Otherwise...very good.

    Comfortable ”

nice view of the river, large rooms, tasty breakfast

Staff were friendly and accommodating but most had only very basic english skills. Rooms are very large and comfortable. The breakfast was great. The wifi did not work for several days in the room (even when it did, it was only available on the balcony). There is no comfortable seating in the lobby so communicating online meant awkwardly standing or perching on very uncomfortable and unyielding furniture. Still, the ample breakfast overlooking the river was a memorable and relaxing way to start the day.

Fantastic view, excellent food and not good wifi

The mountains view from a balcony of our room was amazing! We'd stayed in this hotel for 3 days, everything was find and value for money but the free wifi there was badly we couldn't use well since we arrived. Foods were great, u should try Lao noodles!

    Nightmare”

View to the mountains, view to the river, seeing the hotel disappear in the rear vision mirror

In many years of travelling in South East Asia, and South Pacific this was the worst managed hotel. If you want to sleep at night find another hotel. We read other blogs and should have taken their advice.

    A Pleasant Hotel”

    Comfortable, Good Views, bathtub

The superior room is very comfortable and clean. Hotel is fine. Very close to river, good views. Breakfast area on the banks of river. Breakfast bit limited. Eggs, toast tea, Asian choices. Breakfast area, little dirty. Hotel is a 10 minute walk from center which can be a pain if you want to go in in the morning and evening. Suggest a hotel closer. Otherwise nice hotel, and a bit cheaper than others. Lots of restaurants nearby on walk to the center. Nice walk across bridge and along the other side to center.

    Disappointing”

Location, parking, raw timber furniture in the foyer

Its disappointing to see a hotel that was once a beautiful structure and has all the potential to be great, let go to slowly decay. The bathrooms are in desparate need of renovation, toilet seat not fixed and continually falling off, the cheapest possible telephone type shower that sprayed all over the bathroom, impossible to regulate hot and cold, water leaking from somewhere as floor continually wet, all walls need painting, clean towels with stains, door locks that require you hold your tongue one way, turn your feet another, wriggle your butt at the same time work the lock and hopefully after 5mins you might get in. Mentioned these things to the people at reception but seemed all too tired to take any notice, not their problem! It has been and still could be a great hotel, with different owners who were prepared to invest some of the profit back into maintaining what is being let go to rack and ruin.

It was OK for the money”

Swimming pool, close to the river, big rooms and bathrooms

It was OK. We were there over Women's day weekend, so it was busy and noisy. The room was comfortable, the pool was nice, especially since it stayed open all night. But because it stayed open all night, the party lasted the same. The location is too far from the center of town and there never was a taxi or tuk-tuk outside to take you. So we did a lot of walking. The bathroom and shower was very big, but the water pressure was very low, and it was a challenge to keep hot water continuously coming out of the shower. The breakfast was average, and better than some hotels, actually typical for a Lao or Thai hotel - fried eggs, toast, coffee, noodle soup and a bunch of other Asian food. I think most of the Asians staying there liked the breakfast.

    Don't go there”

    View, view, view

I stayed at the Thavisouk Hotel in 2007, when it consisted of the main building about 100 meters from the river and two rows of bungalows in a beautfil garden. Now the garden is replaced with an ugly parking lot and the bungalows with two rows of apartment blocks. The rooms are OK. The staff is unfriendly and pays only attention to the big group. Wireless internet doesn't work.

    excellent room, poor breakfast”

    location, swimming pool and room

Loved the spacious room with balcony. hotel is a 15 minute walk from the lively area, which was far enough way to not hear any of it! Downside was the very poor breakfast, just a few slices of bread, cold fried eggs and noodles. otherwise a good place to stay.

    Great hotel but disappoint view”

    Clean and very comfort!

Hotel is very clean and nice. It's in good area not very far from the bridge. Breakfast is quite simple. I had no much time to walk around but I could feel it's very quiet and beautiful. The only thing is standard room view is very bad. I didn't see and good view from my room. Also, hotel staff at reception tried to sell tubing package with very expensive price to me.

    The surroundings and breakfast.

Great hotel for the price, beautiful views of mountains and the river. I like the bungalows as you feel like you have your own home, the breakfast was great and the view from the dining area on of the bst I have ever expereinced. Staff are friendly and there are a few bars in town, you can relax here or go and go crazy on the river.

    Away from the backpackers”

Lovely scenic views and away from the ugly "tubing" scene

Nice, quiet and simple bungalows, most of which have great views of the river and mountains from their balconies. They also have a brand new swimming pool. The breakfast isn't great, but there are a couple of good cafes places across the road so that isn't a problem. This is a good place to stay if you want to enjoy the good things that Vang Vieng has to offer, and are keen to skip the ugly tubing scene.
