Home away from home ”
The 84 is a beautiful guesthouse located close to the best Siem Reap has to offer and served by conscientious and understanding staff. I stayed for a week in my first experience traveling solo and was always able to rely on Jay and his team to make my stay more comfortable and interesting. The interiors are gorgeous and well maintained, and the rooms are of a good size, quiet, clean, and with comfortable beds and sofas. My only concern is that they are a bit dark - perhaps a different set of bulbs? I see reviews that complain about the cleanliness of their rooms - if you had spoken with the staff, you'd know that they only clean on checkout unless asked, so as to maintain your privacy. The housekeeper, in fact, goes out of her way to give you fresh linens and even folds your clothes. Overall, for the price, the value at the 84 is fantastic. I intend to return to Siem Reap and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Perfect for the cheap price”
I've stayed 5nights in a double room with balcony and AC. The room is really cosy and very clean. The bathroom is very good as well with hot and cold shower. They will clean your room and provide new towels when you ask for it in the morning. The staff is super friendly (the boss, because the one who is there during the night was not) and very helpful. I recommend pot & pan restaurant - it's not so far from the hotel (3 or 4$ for amazing meals and staff super friendly) If you want to rent a scooter I recommend to choose outside the hotel because it's overpriced there (13$ in the hotel and you can find easily for 8$). There is a Jacuzzi on the rooftop and nice places to chill in the hotel but I think it will be better if there was a bar or the possibility to eat something there. It's very good located, just a few minutes from pub street and night market. So for the price I recommend totally! (My room was very good, I saw another one that wasn't that good) so take the double room with balcony ;-)

nice place, 5 minute walk to the action”
comfortable bed, good WiFi, nice rooms, A/C was strong, lots of loungy common areas, restaurant next door had good food for $2. Jay the owner had lots of good tips, and was friendly. downside - cats/kittens in the entry lounge area bothered my allergies, but the rooftop was pet free. Some noisy bikes rip by the road in front, so light sleepers might want to pass on the river view rooms. breakfast game was weak when we were there. would do in a pinch, but Siem Reap has some great options within a few blocks.

Great location, nice balcony, quiet sleep”
Small room with balcony, but ok for one person. LCD TV, small fridge, nice bathroom with hot water and good pressure. Free water bottle refills in the kitchen. Front desk was unattended a lot of the time. Nice sitting/dining areas. I did not try any food as the staff were off for Khmer New Year. The cats are really nice!

Exceptional”
Great place especially for the price. Located on a quiet street right next to all the night action. Run by two delightful Indian brothers who are making improvements and upgrades. Price may not stay low for long!?

Decent for the price”
My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights when we first moved to Siem Reap until we found ourselves an apartment. We only booked this place for the cheap price and good location near town center. Overall, it was an okay stay. The room is about what you'd expect for this price. It's not disgusting, by any means, but it certainly isn't an oasis to come back to after a long day of touring. Wifi signal is strong and the AC works decently so I can't complain about that. Overall, I'd recommend if you're on a budget and still want to stay close to town. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere.

Unprepared”
Location is perfect. New owner Jay. Really hope he can straighten out all these problems asap. Driver didn't turn up to pick us from airport. The room given not as promised. Add in additional bed but no bedsheet. Given bedsheet but run out of blankets. No daily room service. Toilet and bedsheets has stains. Floor is dusty cannot bare foot. Room stuffy. Toilet ventilation not powerful stuffy and retained smell. Shower pipe burst the night before we checked out nothing done for us till we check out, no shower. Rooftop beautiful with direct view of sun rise. Open space for leisure sit around. 3 big jacuzzi pool enough for 2 in each but looks unclean and a little rusty won't suggest using. Owners Jay was there personally but staff there can't really speak nor understand English. Many things booked but they are not sure. Accept cash only and no cards. No change for $12 when given a $20 notes and have to wait long for them to get change from elsewhere when check out.

Awkward when pooping”
Staff were lovely. You will get plenty of radiant Cambodian smiles here. But cleanliness and out-of-the-box architectural designs made my experience less cheery. No one took the initiative to clean my room during my six-day stay. And for some odd reason the room always smelled strange. I can't really describe the smell, but it was a mixture of the streets outside and a room that hasn't been cleaned thoroughly for a long time. On to the architectural designs. My room had windows, but they face the gray concrete walls of another building only half a meter away. A depressing view, I must say. The shower did not drain properly because the drain hole was not indented. The worst part, however, was the toilet, which was placed in such a way that you must sit sideways when making doo-doo. Awkward? Yes. Uncomfortable? Certainly. Unique Southeast Asian experience? Ya bet!
