Relax in a fantastic resort”
We were greeted on arrival by the staff who directed us to the undercover parking area. We gave a large 4wd car which fitted without problem. The checking in process was fast, and we were given 2 vouchers for a welcome drink around the pool. We later had 2 very nice "mocktails". There are 2 pools-- one saltwater and one chlorinated (lightly). The pools are in 2 lovely courtyard areas with lots of tropical plants. One pool has a huge artificial cliff-face with water cascading down. The whole resort has an attentuon to detail. The greeting at reception was friendly, and check in occurred in a matter of minutes. There is an elevator to access the upper floors. We had booked the cheapest room as there was a good deal on Agoda. The room was lovely, well decorated, modern, and clean. The decoration was in brown tones, with a seoerate bathroom with both a rainforest and hand held shower heads. Thr shower area can have a little bit of water go into rhe rest of the bathroom, as it is set up like a wet room. Thr room has a flat screen TV with english channels, and a balcony overlooking the pool. The large firm king bed was confortable, and the aircon worked well. There are blackout curtains on the windows. Considering this was meant to be the cheapest room on offer, I thought it was of a high standard. Breakfast was provided as part of our rate, and consisted of a buffet with asian and western dishes, and an egg station. The food was fresh and warm. This fairly new resort offers value for money. It is very well designed with very comfortable and well appointed rooms. The staff are young, enthusiastic, helpful, well trained, with a good command of english. The resort is kid friendly, and is a 5 minute walk to Dongtan beach. Thete are convenience stores nearby, ad many good and inexpensive restaurants in the Jomtien Complex. As a frequent visitor to Pattaya over many years who has stayed in a large number of hotels, I would say that The Agate is one of the best genu
A tranquil oasis in jomiten”
A smart hotel close to cabaret , bars ,restruants, beach and the gay section of Jomiten . Among the guests where Finnish families two pools one saltwater allows you to spread your wings and enjoy a cocktail next to the mock escarpment and waterfall . The rooms are nicely appointed especially those with a balcony overlooking the pool I rather liked the bean bag seat but a straight back chair is provided should you need a more upright posture the bathrooms have a rain shower and window looking into the bedroom ,though a privacy blind is fitted if shy . The usual arrangements for Joiners the agate likes discretion . I liked the fact that I was not aware of the surrounding hubbub of Jomiten when in my room and the empty fridge allows you to fill with your favourites from nearby 711 , the Kingsize bed was comfortable and the decor of the hotel is nicely quirky .Tea and coffee facilities in room eggs to order at breakfast .The staff are helpful and happy to resolve issues promptly the hotel has its own tuk tuk need laundry taken care of or need a taxi etc. Ploy the assistant to the Pesident of the hotel cares for her guests and there experiance at the Agate . I will most definitely stay again
Centrally located in the main gay Jomtien area. Outstanding Staff. Clean. Good Value.”
I booked late for this trip as an extra on the way back to Chiang Mai but still managed to get a beautiful top floor room overlooking the inner courtyard and pool. The staff were always very friendly and helpful giving the hotel a safe and secure feel. A welcome poolside cocktail was a pleasant surprise. The room was generous, housekeeping efficient and the aircon was unexpectedly whisper-quiet. Breakfast was good value, which I would definitely include in future visits, but do order your morning coffee from the poolside bar separately. Restaurants, bars, cafes and taxis are all close by as are convenience stores. The main beach area of Jomtien, which is just a 10 minute walk, has been beautifully redeveloped with generous footpaths, easy beach access, clean sands and polite vendors offering shady umbrellas and food. A great place for an early morning walk. I would recommend The Agate and will be staying again soon.
This resort is fantastic! Everything about it is great; the rooms, the comfortable beds, the staff, the location, the swimming pool, EVERYTHING! I will only stay in The Agate whenever I go to Pattaya! Highly recommend this resort.
Very Hard to find Fault with this Hotel”
Lovely new hotel, very clean as you may expect with a new build. If I had to pick fault I would say the staff do not speak very good English so it's difficult for them to help you with anything, but that seems to be the case every where in Thailand. The hotel is easily a 4 Star. Breakfast is great with many choices on offer. As I've said it's hard to find fault with the The Agate. The hotel is situated in a Gay area so beware all you single straight men, also taxi drivers and excursion buses find it difficult to locate as the hotel is so new. I would definatley recommend the The Agate Boutique Hotel.
A great hotel in jomtien”
From the entrance (which is surrounded by massage parlours and bars in a mainly gay area) you would not believe that it was possible to find such a great hotel! This really is an oasis and its claim to being a 'boutique resort', unlike some places you go to, is absolutely true. The two swimming pools are surrounded by lush gardens in a surprisingly quiet environment. The four floors just keep it small enough to have all the facilities without the crowds. Everything in the place is well maintained with, of course, the usual smiling, friendly Thai staff. The fourth floor room I stayed in was excellent with a nice balcony overlooking the pool that got just the right amount of sun. At breakfast there was no freshly ground coffee, whole wheat bread, muesli or bacon which I consider a sign of a great breakfast, but the rest - yogurt, eggs, limited fruits and mixed Thai dishes was enough to last you hours up to a late lunch. All in all it’s a pretty amazing place. The trouble is, as always, I want to keep it quiet so that it’s not fully booked the next time I want to stay!
The Agate Pattaya”
Fantastic place to stay. Right in the heart of the entertainment area with restaurants, bars and the beach within easy walking distance. Have stayed here many times and will continue to stay at The Agate whenever I go to Pattaya.
An excellent boutique hotel in Jomtien Beach”
Agate is an outstanding little hotel. I enjoyed it so much I stayed an extra day! It was rehabbed in the last two years and they've done a great job in a modern Thai style. Room is very large with a nice balcony overlooking the pool. Mattress is firm as are the pillows (a bit too firm). Staff are incredibly friendly and the breakfast is wonderful. I can't recommend this hotel enough and if I return to Jomtien I will stay here.
My wife and I were there for 6 days and loved the Hotel. Wevwere not happy eitg the 1st room we were given but Sa was excellent. They did not have a pool facong room on the day but Sa changed our room the next day. The rest of the staff at the front desk and concierge were also fab. Cheers to AGATE.
Wonderful staff. Great breakfast. Loved the two pools, one salt water. A fun week in Pattaya and the best part was the Agate hotel.
This hotel is great and unbeatable for the price they offer right now. You are in very close to the baht bus (for 10 THB around Pattaya), close to the beach and the hotel have nice facilities (incl. a salt water pool). Only negative point, the pool is very cold.... Others then that, great staff, super friendly. We will come back.
GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY ”
Pattaya Jomtien is a tourist hub. This hotel is a five minute walk from the beach. It's got a pleasant ambience, great staff, is bang in the middle of a whole lot of nightlife, yet quiet enough in the room not to realize it. Everything worked perfectly. From The air-conditioning to the various gadgets in the room. The room service was good. Prompt. The breakfast was very filling and had something for everyone. I'd recommend this hotel anytime. Good value for money too.
Good accommodation for families.”
Just returned from a 16 night stay at the Agate Hotel and definately do not regret booking this accommodation. Checkin was very smooth even thought we arrived late at night. We expected and our room was ready for us. We also provided with a room a quiet location as requested. The Sapphire Family room which we had booked was huge with two super king size beds with good quality bedding a decent size bath room with rain shower and a very nice balcony over looking the pool, which had two chairs a large umbrella and a drying rail. The room also had a large 42inch TV with very good quality picture although no dedicated movie, sport or new new channels were provided. The two pools were clean and adequate for coolling off but not fitness training. The larger of the pools bing about 12m long and the smaller salt water spa pool being about 8m long. The ground were nicely designed with a lot of thought having gone into these. The only down side of hotel is now sea view,
Excellent trip to pattaya”
Excellent trip to pattaya, Hotel around so many restaurants near the beach good location ,beautiful swimming pool family and my kids joy it , was very good is set breakfast but excellent , 7-Eleven behind the hotel The staff was very helpful and the hotel have tuk tuk service to the beach beautiful. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
Do yourself a favour and book this hotel!”
This hotel in Pattaya is beautiful. The amenities in each room are thoughtfully laid out for a relaxed time in luxury. Be prepared for the super comfortable beds. Take advantage of the free tuk tuk. The beach is so close but we were spoilt with two pools, including a saltwater one. The night market nearby is well worth a visit!
renovated hotel close to everything”
Near to the action like clubs & not far from the beach, the Agate is newly renovated & clean. The renovations are a bit rough around the edges but they are ok for what you pay. The lift seemed to more out of action than in action, which was annoying being on the 4th floor. Breakfast is ordered off the menu & is huge, with plenty to eat. Staff are friendly enough. Few aren't in Thailand.Nice pool but they need to improve food & beverages by the pool. Good value place.
Classy hotel that COULD be better”
The Agate could be the best hotel in Jomtien Plaza..could ! It is clean, very well built, quiet despite a busy location and has a super swimming pool, efficient lift, reasonable sized rooms and comfortable beds. BUT it seems as though the quality of design and location have not been put to better use. It is charcterless and the breakfast is a disgrace (we left and had food elsewhere). The room w as clean and the shower god but the lighting was abysmally organised. No s witches near the bed, no reading lights.A farce. teh staff were ok but kept a VERY low profile behind desks.. This hotelw a snot cheap (2000 baht per night ) and I would LOVE to amange it fro a month and turn it into the hote it COULD be. Not a disaster but 7 out of 10 not the possible 9. Brian Baxter.
Nice but overpriced ”
The Agate is a nice hotel. Located in the mainly gay Jomtien complex but away from too much noise, the hotel is only 5 minutes from the beach. It is designed around two courtyards with small, pleasant pools. The rooms are good sized with balconies. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom well equipped. The room has a cupboard, desk, fridge and safe. English TV channels were limited and reception quality poor. Wifi virtually non-existent in room, needed to be in lobby. Breakfast buffet good, pools nice. The ‘fitness’ area they advertise is two machines outdoors including a treadmill that is unsafe. It is quite a nice place but the negatives mentioned above make its value for money poor and we probably wouldn’t stay again.
Our second stay at The Agate, very well located for our needs and will return
Not a resort, need improvement ”
There is a bean bag in my room but no writing chair. I am sure that there are house-guests who want to sit and write. The hotel is in close proximity to residence. Some rooms look directly into the living rooms of residents staying next to the hotel. The hotel is located in an active gay-friendly area with many host bars. If you are homophobic, you may wish to consider other hotels. The street in front of the hotel turns into a carnival at night and can be a bit noisy but the air-con in the room cuts off the noise. The presentation of the buffet breakfast needs improvement and the staff needs to be able to communicate in basic English. The hotel needs to improve in the above areas to call itself a resort otherwise it is just being ordinary.
