Cool place, between riverside and airport”
The Alcove Library is a very nice hotel, cool concept in reception - the pictures show, bookshelves to ceiling loaded with good books, old books, whatever. The rooms are fine, comfortable bed, A/C that works, wifi that works... clean and well organized. Worth the money, which was quite reasonable.
decent hotel, nice deco”
Overall, hotel was decent, nice theme and design. Room was clean and okay. Location is okay, but not great, as not much restaurant choices around walking distances. Wifi was okay. Breakfast was simple, okay, and can be improved.
We just loved the little notes and free chocolates they give every now and then. It was really thoughtful. The location was a little out of the way but it is so close to the airport and it was overall a pretty good place to stay.
The Alcove Library Hotel, HCMC - The Best Hotel Stay in Vietnam For Me To Date!!!”
This boutique hotel certainly has its own uniqueness. It has a real library of several thousand books (mostly in English but I noticed that there were some in other languages too). Guests are welcome to borrow any of them. There were four children's books (Dr. Seuss) on the bedhead in my room. Good for those travelling with young children. Even the restaurant (located on the 5th and highest floor - a nice view too) has a book theme (and books!). It's named The Bookmark. I always travel with a few books of my own (not to mention my Ebooks) but it's nice to have access to additional choices. Coming back each evening to a library made me felt very welcome indeed and it was almost like coming home! Each room and floor had framed quotes about books and reading - nice touch! All the staff are friendly, polite, and helpful. A few were quite shy, possibly due to language constraints but there was no mistaking their courtesy. The restaurant served good meals. Breakfast began with a fruit platter, followed by two small slices of baguette with butter and two types of jam. The main course comprised a choice of Eastern and Western meals. Vietnamese chicken or beef noodles (pho), Vietnamese fried rice, etc. Delicious! My room was clean, well kept and in obviously good condition. I have posted photos to friends and family alike and all were impressed. During my stay, I discovered a new author whose books I would certainly look up, and read several books that I would otherwise have not. I was there for five nights and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I was comfortable, felt at home, made to feel welcome, and I was sorry to go! Would I come back? Definitely YES. There are limited rooms, so you would need to book early to avoid disappointment. I tried to get a room here a few months ago but couldn't. That's my only real regret about this hotel!
good budget, quiet place”
Hotel is not so far from the airport (only 15 minutes by taxi), located in a small road so it's very quiet. it looks like cozy house with very nice receptionist and friendly environment. Good to stay to relax and enjoy the trip
Very pleased that I chose this hotel... Fantastic!”
This is a unique, cozy, comfortable, welcoming hotel. The rooms are very clean. The staff are super friendly. Breakfast, cooked hot from an A La Carte menu is excellent. There are many beautiful little touches. Every night the bed was turned down. On the bed was a chocolate and a traditional Vietnamese legend for a bedtime story!! The neighbourhood is also fun. Not too busy with lots of local restaurants and coffee shops. I will definitely come back. Thank you Tyzie, Peter, Steven, 'Intern' and all other staff for your warm welcome.
Lovely boutique hotel”
This delightful hotel might not be right in the heart of the city, but it is such a pleasant space to stay it that it's totally worth the small effort to get into town. The rooms are comfortable, attractive, and well-appointed. The restaurant is excellent for breakfast and dinner. The staff are friendly and helpful, and there are great little gems to discover right in the immediate vicinity. I've stayed in a few hotels in HCMC, and it's the most unique, tasteful hotel I've experienced there yet. I highly recommend this spot!
Wonderful service from Alcove”
Actually, my review came quite late. I've been staying at Alcove for many times. I like this hotel. The staff here is very friendly and supportive. It is a very nice and quiet hotel from the morning buzz. Another good thing about this hotel is the food is delicious and nicely prepared. U will enjoy the complimentary breakfast served to you. Keep it up!
Friendly staff, nice breakfast”
We were attracted to this hotel because of it unique library. The reception is super friendly and helpful, The breakfast is great. In term of location, this hotel is nestled inside a residential area, so it is not easy to locate. It is also quite far from the central market and shopping district. The traffic is bad, so I would rather stay closer to District 1.
In the library ”
Lovely hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms quite large, well decorated and clean. Restaurant on top floor where you can sit outside just for drinks or for a meal. Food was good as well as the service Good choice for breakfast either western or Vietnamese
Great hotel. We will stay here again.”
The dining area is awesome. Breakfast is really good. We brought a bottle of red wine and we cannot open it. The concierge helps us to open it. The room is clean and nice. The bed is really good. Big and comfortable. Close to the airport so if you are looking for a short stay to catch up morning or midnight flight. It will be a great choice. Even a long stay in HCM. Library hotel makes us feel like being at home. So definitely, we will come back.
Books were everywhere”
We made it here for our final night in HCMC. The ambience of the entrance and lobby was as stunning as seen on TV! The staff are friendly (both at lobby and in the restaurant) with better English speaking you could find in HCMC. The 'Bookmark' has its class and the breakfast were superb where you could have 2 orders from the menu. Not forgetting one male staff who has got great sense of photography. Only one thing to be regretted, we should have stayed for longer.
Three stars hotel but the services are excellent.Staying one night for $75+ (Sing Dollar). I like the breakfast and are yummy yummy. The staffs are very polite and helpful. I like the hotel concept being decorated as library and very suitable to take photos. There is Sister hotel known as SARAI resort and spa in Siem Reap,Combodia and I believe is worth to try as well.
Beautiful Place :)”
Everything was classy. Lucy from the front desk was super helpful and the included breakfast was amazing. Nice rooftop restaurant too. Our A/C unit had some problems, so they offered us a free ride to the airport when we left. A nice touch I figure. They really do care here.
Excellent service from staff”
Alcove is always the hotel of choice for our family in HCMC. Located not too far from the centre as well as TSN int'l airport, the hotel is still able to offer a peaceful environment, suitable for family with young children. The cozy ambience gives us a feel of 'coming home'. Very helpful and friendly staff always promptly available to your request. Much appreciated.
Great stay ven though we checked in at 9pm with warm welcome and very friendly, helpful staffs. Nice to have breakfast to go it's just very simple but we love it because of the cares for guests. Nice room, clean, very strong water. We enjoyed the shower. We will recommend to our friends to stay in this hotel and we defiantly will come back when we are in Viet Nam.
A pleasant stay at the Alcove.”
It was a great experience staying at the Aclove hotel for the past three nights. The hotel staff were helpful and provided us with valuable information about the relevant tours available and the amenities around the hotel vicinity. At the restaurant, the breakfast selection on the ala carte menu were fantastic with a mixture of western and asian selection. The food were freshly prepared by the kitchen chefs and the presentation was just pleasing to the eye and stomach. Our room was spacious, cosy and cleaned. However, some of the furnitures could do with a makeover such as the wardrobe cabinet that had its paint peeling off and rusty hinges. The bathroom lighting could do with better amenities including a moisturiser and complimentary shavers for guest's usage. Nonetheless, the room was comfortable with soft pillows that made sleeping peaceful. Aclove hotel has a unique decor that trends on the hipster culture with its high ceiling book shelves in black and white hues to the brick walls and modern furnitures in the restaurant. This decor is definitely pleasing to young couples who fancies anything hipster and yippie. On a whole, the hotel was a nice property to stay in and we would consider returning back to Aclove again whenever we are in HCMC.
Great hotel ”
Overall the experience was great. The little attention to details such as serving us cashew nuts each night before bedtime was a nice touch that even some high end hotel do not bother with. Extremely helpful and friendly staff always eager to help.
No regret booking this hotel!”
Aside from the positive things I mentioned above, the hotel has a very helpful staff. We got ripped off from the cab we rode to the hotel. Its a long story but they helped us try to contact the airport staff to file the complaint. They are also helpful to give you tips. Like best advised taxi is Mai Linh. Hotel is clean. Very comfy beds. Affordable rates. Simple food for breakfast but you should try their beef noodles!
stylish hotel close to airport”
having landed 1.30AM, it is very convenient to have shuttle to pick up at airport, which is just 5 minutes away. Hotel is very nicely decorated and staff are very friendly and efficient. Rooms are big and comfortable. Breakfast is quite good as well.
