Just wonderful. Graceful ambience in an old palatial building with tranquil gardens and wonderful Armenian ceramics. The rooms were large and characterful with exceptional bedding and Aqua Di Parma toiletries. The staff were attentive and very friendly. Thank you for a wonderful stay

The place are nice but to many people , no place in pool (not inside and not outside) , a lot of families with kids and very noisy. The room was clean but we asked a pool View and received first floor with roof of the pool view . We left early because no place in the pool . The breakfast pretty expensive.

Definitely didn't get the value for what we payed...”
we got a room with a view to a neglected technical space of the hotel. some plants and a little bit of care would have done the difference. we asked to change, waited approx. 30 minutes to the reply that there are no other rooms available in the hotel. but the receptionist thought that it would be justified to tell us, at this point, that if we ordered directly from the hotel (and not through an agency) we would have paid less and have higher chance for upgrade... Great way to start our weekend... The room is a bit outdated, not 5 stars kind of feeling we were looking for (for example we got 3 tea bags...). Definitely didn't get the value for what we payed...

Unique property with excellent reception staff”
I have been visiting Jerusalem every 6 weeks for nearly four years and would have stayed here more often had it been more central. The reception staff and those in the downstairs bar and restaurant are exceptional. The building has a great sense of history, although the rooms can be a bit disappointing and the "de luxe" rooms could do with a touch more effort on the decor, given the healthy prices charged. With the exception of the hopeless staff at breakfast, the service is outstanding, particularly when compared to the alternatives. If you want style, go to the Mamilla. If you want pomp, go to the King David. If you want 5 star quality combined with genuinely warm hospitality and strong local flavour, the American Colony is the only credible choice.

Wonderful hotel”
Stayed here with my parents for our last two nights in Jerusalem- what a beautiful charming hotel full of character, such a change from the large corporate hotels we had stayed in on our group tour of Israel. As my Mum said staying at this hotel really made her feel like she was in the Middle East as opposite to the international hotels where we felt we could have been anywhere in the world. Staff we very friendly and very accommodating as my parents were welcome to stay and use the hotel facilities as they waited to get picked up for a late flight. Very atmospheric, and beautifully set out hotel 🙂

Fantastic Staff”
An excellent staff made our stay particularly nice. We made a couple unusual requests and the professional staff at the American Colony stepped up without hesitation to provide for our needs. We hesitated before booking in this location but found it to be very welcoming and comfortable. The breakfast provided was also fantastic and diverse even by Israeli big breakfast standards. Our only less than stellar comment is that the selection of books and literature in the gift/book shop is very one sided and partisan. This shouldn't have been totally surprising but given the excellence and absence of political statements everywhere else it became noticeable. A great hotel.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my six night stay. I had a well appointed Junior Suite, kept spotlessly clean. The buffet breakfast was great and the service was always friendly and efficient. All the members of the staff make you feel at home. I would recommend The American Colony and I look forward to a second stay in a not too distant future.

Magical. The ambience contains all of that is found in the hearts of the people of East Jurusalem: warmth, generosity, and hospitality. Just one night's stay. Felt welcomed and protected by this place with small, somewhat dated rooms in furnishing, but otherwise all was well. Good breakfast buffet; decent liquor list for the evening bar with wonderful outside seating and lots of privacy.

The hotel is located new the old city. From outside you might think it's shabby but on the inside it's fully innovated and well equipped. The breakfast is great and the service is splendid. Really recommended!

Liked this hotel! The only thing wrong was that it is next to a mosque! And every morning at 4.30am there was a call for pray on loud speakers!!!!! I do appreciate we are in a holy city! The plus side it was walking distance to the old city! Also the conceage staff were very good at organising our trips to all the sites! We did eat in the hotel a few nights and was very good
