The Ashok Hotel is one of New Delhi's most distinctive landmarks and has hosted some of India's most important national and international events. The hotel was first made famous when the UNIDO conference was held there in 1956, which was the first ever international event held in India since it asserted its independence. The Ashok Hotel is situated just two kilometers from the Presidential Palace and is a short drive to the International Airport. The pink-walled structure boasts 550 rooms ranging from modern double rooms to glamorous presidential suites with each room featuring broadband internet, a mini bar, and a television with satellite channels. The hotel features a whole host of recreational facilities including a full fitness center, a swimming pool, a Spa, a tennis court, and a jogging track. The property also contains a staggering 12 restaurants serving food from all corners of the world such as Lebanese, Korean, Chinese and, of course, Indian.

Charming stay; in need of a few upgrades”
The Ashok is a beautiful old hotel in a lovely peaceful area of the city. The hotel is grand and beautiful, though in need of some updates - renovations appear to be ongoing currently. The facilities are great. Their gym is incredible and the pool is as well. Something needs to be done with the houseflies at the pool though. It is impossible to lay down and relax because dozens of houseflies will land on you constantly. This happened to myself and my colleagues every time over the course of a week and is really uncomfortable because you cannot relax. The hotel's food was good and the restaurants were good as well. The staff were helpful and friendly. The biggest downside to this hotel for me was the internet - I've stayed in a dozen different hotels in Delhi at 3-5 stars and the wireless at the Ashok is among the very worst. It cuts out constantly, it sometimes works great and then other times not at all, and sometimes it will say you are online but you are unable to do anything. Come with a data package or you'll regret it. Otherwise, a really enjoyable stay and would stay again.
Comfortable bed, good restaurants, great service ”
Pros: We were visiting Delhi for our visa appointment. This location was 5 minutes from the us consulate and they kept our luggage during our visa interview. This was great! Cons: The travel concierge proposed a very expensive cab ride(2600 inr) we just walked out and got a rickshaw for less than inr 1000 (from hotel to consulate and back and then to the airport) Overall a good stay and I’d recommend to everyone going for a visa appointment to stay with hote Ashoka
Historical Hotel in the city of Delhi”
The Ashok giving the old indian style where we enjoy so much the ambiance. The room is spacious, the breakfast is good with many variety. I will consider to stay again in Ashok if i am in Delhi again.
Excellent Location, Great Food & Courteous Staff”
I was not expecting a great trip when I was told that this is a Govt. managed hotel. however, to my surprise right from Check In to Check out, everything was smooth. I was even given an extended Late Checkout at 4 PM as i was stuck in traffic and front desk obliged me. Breakfast has good choices of all cuisines and is delicious. I would recommend the hotel as one of the finest in Delhi.
Used to be a grand hotel ”
Ashok hotel Delhi is a huge complex with lots of hotel rooms, conference rooms, shops and restaurants. It has all the facilities that are required to be a 5 star hotel. However, it is super old. The lobby look gorgeous and not much aged (maybe they just renovated it recently) but the standard room I stayed is very very old. Bed and pillows are not so comfortable but acceptable. What was very disappointed was the bath room which was super old and water that came out from the shower in the 1st 5 minutes was dusty that you can't wash anything. Breakfast was good but not enough seat. I was in Delhi for a meeting in the Diplomat area and this big hotel's location is very convenient. They have a taxi stand that can conveniently take you to anywhere but the starting fare is 200 Rupee - quite expensive when I can do the same with Uber for 70 Rupee. If in Delhi for Business and only need a hotel to sleep and not to use any of its facilities, this is a good-price hotel you could consider.
Good location. Cheaper than other 5 star hotels. ”
Old Property; but good and well kept. Bathrooms need a brush up, but was clean. Located in central Delhi with lots of diplomatic offices nearby so save place.
So so. ”
Location is good. Hotel cleanness is maintained. Staff lazy specially housekeeping staff. Restaurants offer good delicious food with good service but the portion served of same item is different. Cheaper restaurant serves more quantity and higher price menu serves less quantity I hv experienced in desert order (kulfi). Staff very irresponsible. My personal experience it happened with me on 20.1.17 at 4pm. I was on the way to airport and I recd a call from duty manager saying that when am I going to check out I answered already chkd out, than he saying rudely who is going to pay ur bill for food u hv eaten. As I hv booked the room through Agoda room bill was already cleared before chk in. I answered him already cleared the food bill, instead of checking the system or with cashier he kept on arguing with me. Very bad. People should raise voice and write the review so that it creates a good change to best improvement and management should take action against such staff.
best service ”
i was visiting delhi for business trip and been staying from 22 nd may its excellence service and friendly staff
Very Good Hotel ”
My stay was amazing, its bit off from local delhi roads as its a posh area but rest all was very good.
Exceptional”
Excellent breakfast and good ambiance at the most convenient location in Delhi.
Good for one night.”
Ashok Hotel is a pale shadow of the Ashoka Hotel of the distant past. Good enough for a one night stop. Breakfast is nothing to write home about. Can't say anything about the quality of meals etc. since we did not have any.
Yes”
Overall enjoyef the stay at the Ashok... Would definitely stay again
Exceptional”
Great Hotel in an amazing location. Except the carpet in the lobby on the 4th floor - the hotel is lovely. Exceptionally clean and lovely big rooms. Great staff -the guy at the reception even packed me a breakfasg box because I checked out early. Cant remember his name - but thank you! Great stay - will definitely recommend.
Good hotel”
We stayed there for 2 nights. Always we prefer this hotel. This time we got nice room. Staff at reception very courteous with down to earth nature. Cleaniness maintained, ambience superb, coffee shop and sagar ratna is good for delicious food and service. Housekeeping staff not upto mark. If they clean room they need something that is what we observed this time. Really it's very good hotel.
Not hot water”
I was in room 448 and in delhi cold the shower and tab water was cold every time I have to leave it open for 10 to 15 minted to get hot water. I have informed howkeeping and the only solution was to keep tab open for 10 to 15 minted.
Worn out place...”
Lives from its past reputation; staff at reception desk reactive and sloppy. My usual places in Delhi fully booked I chose the Ashok this time given some meetings in nearby places. Arrived towards midnight and had another overseas flight to take the following night. Checkout was confirmed 2pm but wanted after another series of meetings to use gym and showers after checkout time of 2pm. Request was denied, reason: you can only use the hotel's facilities until 2pm, thereafter an additional day will be charged to you... I find this not worthy a so called 5* hotel; never experienced anything similar and such stubborn reception desk staff including managers in all my many travels in India. Is it because the place is government owned and staff not at all with a sense of good service quality or commercial interest? Clearly disappointing, will not stay there anymore.
Good”
Somewhat aged - could use a revamp. I was more concerned that they did not have completely aligned their system with check in/check out - as such they did not register that some rooms were occupied and walked on customers unexpectedly. Otherwise it is a reasonable option if you are in need of a base in Delhi for a night or two.
Amazing!!!”
The tag line of this facility is... "They dont build grand hotels like this anymore" or something like that. It is a truly grand place in an undescribable locale. I think its affordable for a person like me because its ITDC. Complementary fruits, soft drink, 4 bottles of water...... After-shave lotion, comb, loofah sponge I would say that its an experience worth the money they charge which is not too much to begin with.
Excellent hotel”
It is an excellent with lots of greenery around. Excellent Indian cuisine and very well behaved and polite staffs. The hotel's green compound is so huge, one can go for a nice morning walk within the hotel boundary itself.
Typical Indian Government quality of service... Big disappointment”
It is important to write this review. The Ashok being a five star hotel, has been such a disappointment for us. The toilet was very low marked with patches of dirt everywhere. Room service did not even bother to clean the toilet and replace the toiletries. They always stand in the corridor and keep asking you every time you go out of the room, if they can clean the room. When our access card did not work the reception staff didn't respond even after us going down twice personally, they insisted that it should work. Our toilet had a water leakage from the AC on the last day. The free breakfast was okay with many options, but the taste is no where close to any high end restaurants. Tea was so bad with nothing but hot water (talking about milk-tea). Service of the staff is so pathetic and so is the cleanliness of the tables. Overall, if they don't want to provide good service for the agoda price, they should not keep the room rent cheap and attract people for unnecessary reasons.
