Fully renovated in 2007, this seven-story building has 99 spacious rooms all located in close proximity to the main features of Athens. The Athens Gate Hotel is one of the few hotels in the region that can boast a view of the Temple of Zeus right from guests' balconies and from the rooftop terrace restaurant. Nearby attractions include famous destinations like the Acropolis, Plaka, and Promenade, all within a five minutes' walk from the front door. The nearby area is filled with restaurants catering to nearly any desire, but be sure to have a look at award-winning Spondi for a high-class dining experience that has earned the reputation as being one of the best in the entire city. Location is important when traveling, and this hotel has that as well as all the other amenities that today's traveler needs.

Breakfast for the Acropolis and the Temple of Zeus.”
We have a total of four adults.this is the first time I have stayed and booked 2 rooms, all facing the Temple of Zeus.Fascinating landscape! Stayed for a total of four nights, the house is clean and has a good balcony. The hotel staff is very friendly and polite! It also guides us how to get to the Acropolis. Of course, we all managed to reach the Acropolis, because it is really close to the Acropolis. For breakfast, although there are not many choices, the quality is very good. And every morning you can watch the Acropolis and the Temple of Zeus and have breakfast. Breakfast has both indoor and outdoor options, and is located on the top floor! The staff is more active and asks guests if they want coffee. We all smoke and the restaurant staff will provide an ashtray for outdoor dining for smokers. The front desk staff at The Athens Gate Hotel will help guests to find a taxi to pick up guests to their destination, which is a good service.
Athens Gate is superbly located in the heart of historic Athens. From there one can walk to many major (and minor) attractions. Many rooms have views of either the Acropolis or the Temple of Zeus (but the Temple of Zeus side faces a busy and noisy street). Breakfast on the roof is an excellent buffet with many Greek specialties to choose from, and there are terrific views to the Acropolis and Temple of Zeus, and as far as the Saronic Gulf in clear weather. Front Desk staff are very friendly and helpful! We very much enjoyed our stay and would go back if we return to Athens.
Athens Gate Hotel is really awesome for everything. The Staff is really polite and very helpful. The Rooftop restaurant is amazing and honestly one of the best rooftop views in the World! The experience of having breakfast and dinner with that awesome view is priceless. The location is so perfect that the Temple of Zeus and Acropolis is just on walking distance. The bus stand for hop on and hop off tour bus is barely a 30 seconds walk. Food is good and so is the house wine. Loved the experience.
Location is perfect with great views”
Athens is a walkers' dream city. Thus we found Athens Gate close enough to the best attractions on foot. The Acropolis metro is an easy 6mins away for farther-off places but we never used it. We chose the Suite for it's highest floor, dual views of the Parthenon & Temple of Olympians. You get what you pay for as the built-in space is twice as big as a regular room & it has a unique wrap-around balcony. Staff are friendly & the rooftop restaurant deserves its fame, even though it is smaller than meets the eye. There are 2 elevators, slow but reliable during our stay. We recommend it highly.
The Athens Gate Hotel”
Wonderful stay at the Athens Gate Hotel. The staff was very friendly, the room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast with the beautiful view of the Acropolis offered a great start to each day. The hotel is a walking distance from the main attractions. Only negative point, the internet connection which did not work (extremely slow and most of the time no access at all).
Perfect spot for a quick visit”
If you are traveling to Athens to see the sights, two days is perfect. I highly recommend booking The Athens Gate hotel. Generously sized patios, unbelievable views of the Acropolis and Athens Gate, and the best rooftop breakfast in the city is what you will find! It is right next to the main hop on / hop off buses and many affordable restaurants and the Akropolis train stop is just behind the hotel.
The Athens Gate Hotel was an incredible stay for both me and my partner. It is within walking distance of all the major sites and at the roof top where you also have breakfast (which is decent) you get an incredible view of the Temple of Zeus and the Acropolis. Overall worth the money and would stay here again.
Our 1st and only choice in Athens ”
We returned to Athens Gate after our trip to santorini since we loved it so much when we went there before going to santorini. The hotel is right on the perimeter of e plaka so incredibly convenient for strolling with the baby in the stroller for walks around the acropolis and dinner in the plaka area. Will be recommending this hotel to all our friends and family.
I found a Gem in Athens”
I ahd a wonderful stay in Athen Gate Hotel. Instructions to get there via metro was easy. Located across the acropolis and walking distance from must vist places. View from the terrace was amazing day and night. Would definitely stay there again.
Excellent location with beautiful panoramic views from rooftop terrace”
From the moment you enter, the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are fine (we had a balcony), but the true selling point for us this trip was having breakfast and late evening drinks on the rooftop terrace with views of the acropolis and surrounding area. Plaka is steps away (one block) and Hadrian's gate is directly across the street. This will be my go-to hotel in Athens.
The Best hotel in Athens”
The hotel has the best view in athens, the acropolis view and the temple of zeus view, the museum is next door, the park which i like the most is the hotel is walking distance to plaka area and the athens flea market. But if u are lazy to walk for 15 minutes take a cab which wont cost you more then euro 5. The hotel has a very nice roof top, with free internet access on the roof top and they also has 2 computers in the lobby for the internet usage. The hotel receptions were very friendly and helpful. The beds was very confortable and nice
Great location, nice view of the Acropolis”
The restaurants at the Plaka were very accessible from the Athens Gate hotel so it was convenient. We got the budget room because we were only staying for one night. The size was quite small but was comfortable. Room and bathroom were clean. Staff were very nice. They have taxi cabs waiting right outside the hotel so it was easy for us to hop on a cab for our early flight the next day.
Brilliant, amazing!! ”
Athens gate hotel was amazing. We loved it, wished we could have stayed longer. Room was clean, modern, and comfortable. Location was great - we only stayed for two days and were able to walk to all the main attractions. Staff were so lovely! Very helpful with directions/taxis etc. they even gave us a bag or breakfast to take with us when we had to leave early for our boat trip. Would defintely come back to stay again.
Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Athens ”
this is the ideal hotel for staying in athens. location is perfect for access to restaurants shopping leisurely strolls and the acropolis. the views from the hotel rooftop terrace are stunning and having breakfast there was a perfect way to start the day. request a room with a view of the acropolis ; although rooms facing the temple of zeus are also wonderful. each and every staff member that we came across was helpful courteous and professional.
It was wonderful. Our room had the view of the Temple of Zeus which was facing the street. However, we managed to sleep very well. Guess the noise from the street was not that loud. Roof-top restaurant had an amazing view of Acropolis, especially at night. The front desk staff were sufficiently helpful and bell service was good. No free wifi in the room but free wifi was given in the lobby of the hotel and the restaurant. The location of this hotel is very good. Within walking distance to Acropolis, Temple of Zeus, Plaka and several other tourist points. The hop on hop off bus stops literally steps away from the hotel. It was very convenient for us. Enjoyed our stay at your Hotel and will recommend our friends to stay when they visit Athens.
Worth it if only for the view at breakfast”
We stayed here two nights, non-consecutively, on our way to and back from Santorini. It was really good. First night on the Hadrian's Gate side (a little noisy with traffic) and the second night on the Acropolis (looking over cluttered rooftoops to the Parthenon). Breakfast was included both mornings and we sat out on the balcony to a view of the Acropolis which was a highlight. Rooms very clean, modern and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. Location excellent - very close to the Plaka, very close to the Acropolis, to the metro and to Syntagma Square. Highly recommended.
Centrally located hotel with warm hospitality”
This hotel offers great access to many tourist spot in Athens. It's centrally located and very near acropolis, temple of Zeus and many other attractions. You can even get a great view of acropolis and temple of Zeus from the hotel itself and the view is really amazing. Offer great breakfast too, hotel staff are very helpful too.
Good location and value!”
Great location near Athens gate, short walk to Acropolis and the Plaka area of restaurants and shops. Hotel has an amazing roof top bar / restaurant - amazing brw
Excellent hotel with amazing views of the Acropolis and the Temple of Zeus. The service was outstanding and the staff ensured we were able to catch an early morning ferry out of Athens and even packed us breakfast! A highlight was yummy breakfast on the rooftop restaurant with amazing views of Athens City
Great sight-seeing hotel location”
We had an enjoyable stay at the Athens Gate Hotel - it's location could not have made seeing the city any easier. The only downside was the road noise outside our bedroom window, as the hotel is located at a very busy road junction, but this I suppose was the price to pay for the location. This hotel must have the best view in Athens of the Acropolis from it's rooftop terrace which meant that sitting having breakfast was the start of our sight-seeing day, plus the Temple of Zeus is directly across the road!!
