The interior design is great. Staff are exceptionally helpful and kind. However the bathroom is tiny so it is not so comfortable when bathing inside. Also, downstairs there is a bar, so there are still people yelling in the street that interrupt us from sleeping.
Cozy and Good Location”
The location is super close to Edinburgh Waverly station, the staff is friendly and the room is surprisingly big and comfy. I specially like their lounge, it's very cozy but too small, hard to get table during breakfast as most of people stay around to chit chat after finish eating. I like their breakfast, fresh omelet and toast made by the staff when requested Will stay here again when I visited Edinburgh next time
First time I stayed in a hostel with 3 bunk beds. Staff are friendly and accommodating, free wifi and breakfast, bed now has power socket and has big locker inside the room. The service is great so I can't say wrong about the hostel. I'll be happy to recommend it to others 👍🏻
Good location ”
This hostel included breakfast. It's good location that nearby Waverley Sta., and also member of staff are friendly. However, you maybe hearing people who have to noise on downstairs of hostel some day. Because it stand on upstairs of pub and restaurant.
Friendly, modern hostel in great location. ”
Very nice modern hostel with great facilities. Kitchen is well equipped. Staff are amazing. Super helpful with advice for sightseeing. Great place to stay if you are travelling alone as its an easy place to mingle with other guests. Would highly recommend!
A nice, very affordable and decent place to stay!”
Pros: very near to train station and bus station. A walking distance from tourist attractions i.e edinburgh castle, museums, shops and mall. Free luggage storage prior to check-in time. Each bed is provided with power plug and light. Providing a simple nice breakfast..toast and scrambled egg..cereal and juice. Cons: male and female sharing same bathroom. Quite uncomfortable when male staff does access to female bedroom even for showing purpose to newcomers.
staffs are all very kind”
the room is quite well. you can either choose the upper bunk or the lower one if you arrive there earlier( if there are vacancy) The staff are all very friendly. It's definitely a nice stay even though I've just stayed for one night.
Travelled from Sydney and stayed for 2 nights. I was very jet lagged and the 24 hour staff available were so friendly and helpful. Only thing was the showers are difficult to move around. Other then that my first hostel experience has been amazing.
I had a really awesome time in Edinburgh! :)
Good facilities, good area and convenience but loud noise sometimes.
The hostel is situated in a very central place making it easy to get to the train station and walk around the town. The staff are very friendly and the vibes in the common room were great! The facilities were clean and practical to use which was the main thing I looked at. I would definitely go here again!
Good for location, just 3-5 mins walk from Edinburgh Waverley Railway station, staff are very nice and breakfast is ok. Not enough of bathroom as the whole floor sharing 4 bathroom but 1 is under maintenance.
Quiet, staff were great, it was like a hotel, but not. Cons were the showers are hard to manoeuvre around, wifi didn't reach the end rooms. Also my bed area smelt very stale/mouldy but that might've just been where I was situated. Good for an overnighter.
Cute little hostel just off of the north bridge and steps from watery train station! You can easily get anywhere you want to go from The Baxter. Loved the Art Deco type theme they had going and the small size made it feel more homey. Would stay here again!
Great location, free breakfast ”
Pros: free tea and coffee, free breakfast, clean kitchen, ok for self catering, plenty of hot water in showers. Groceries available quite close. Cons: need bigger fridge. Not enough room for the number of guests.
I enjoy the stay very much.”
A staff Serena is very friendly and made me felt welcome, she gave me very valuable trip advice when I need. The social area is clean and comfy makes me feel like stay in a decent and classic cafe. The location is just opposite to the Waverly Bridge station.
Convenient location but noisy doors”
Conveniently located near the bus station, with friendly staff and a nice kitchen where toast and eggs are prepared by the staff. However, it's a long, narrow, spiral stairway to the hostel if you're lugging baggag. Also, the room doors make a loud noise when the mechanism catches, making it impossible to be considerately quiet when moving in and out of the rooms.
Fab, location, fab staff, fab stay!!”
This was a fantastic hostel overall. The location is just amazing. Opposite Waverley Station, just off Princes St and near all the sights. The staff were fab. Very friendly and accommodating. It's not cheap but it's a very nicely decorated and comfortable place. The beds are very sturdy and the entire place is clean throughout. Bathrooms are modern too. The only downsides are... 3 showers and 2 toilets for 46 or so people. Breakfast gets busy as do the bathrooms in the mornings. We were there for the Edinburgh fringe so it was busy. One other downside was when we were leaving we were told to store our bags would cost 50p per hour per bag. Well this would have cost us £24 as we had a late bus out. After paying over £40 a night we felt the goodwill of the stay was a little undone by the storage charge. No other hostel in Edinburgh has charged us for storage over the years. But overall the stay was great.
The Best of the Best!”
This is definitely the best hostel that I have ever stay! Staff are amazing and very friendly, breakfast is simple but I can feel lots of love in it as the staff prepared it every morning. The place is tidy which I really appreciate it, the hostel is located in New Town and it took around 5 mins walk to Scott Monument so it is very convenient to go almost every main attractions in Edinburgh. Just want to thank all of the staff that gave me a wonderful trip in Edinburgh, I would like to stay in here again!
Friendly staff and good location : )
