Same as previous review ”
Food too expensive but location and environment amazing!
Excellent hotel for two friends with a small one”
Really enjoyed this place, but food was a bit pricey. Very lovely surroundings :)
out standing sea view suite”
Out standing sea view suite. Outstanding young staff. Good on site food facilities. Just as well as this place is well well off the beaten way. Hard to find. Small sign on back road. Entry road is very rough dirt track for 1.5 km. Private owned and 8 years old. Small scale, only about 14 rooms on the lower area. More forest rooms on a much high up level way behind the lower gardens, reception, pool, and dining. Very large suite and well appointed. Right on the sea. Rocky beach and not so pretty at low water. We had only minor issues. While we had in room tea/coffee with kettle. There was no black coffee. Only mixed coffee (sugar and milk) so I had to go the 12 km into Ranong to buy black coffee at the nearest 7-11. And the kettle cord is not long enough to reach the power point so kettle had to be on the floor. Small issues and we would go back again.
We were travelling from southern Thailand to Bangkok with various stops en route. This was a good place to break our journey. We stayed 2 nights in a “forest” room, this was a good walk up a VERY steep hill! The room was pretty basic but clean and comfortable beds. This hotel is very much off the beaten track with a fairly long drive up an unmade road to get to it. No way could you stay here without transport. The pool looks lovely but the water was rather murky. Great views over to Burma/Myanmar. The hotel and grounds were clearly an expensive investment with no expense spared when it was built, I’m not sure how old it is but it is in desperate need of some TLC, lovely hardwood decking & walkways but the wood is rotting and the boards are loose & lifting, such a shame to neglect it like this. The food was ok, nothing special. The best thing about this place is the staff who were friendly & helpful.
High end resort, curious location. ”
This hotel was convenient for us as we were driving North. But for a big posh hotel it was like a ghost town. Fine for us but glad we were passing through. Staff were very good, forest view room was a hike up a hill but quiet and good for us. Could do with extending the driveway up! The other rooms were by the pool and more accessable. Only critism was that the food could have been better. Not very hot or flavoursome. overall I would stay again for a through trip, no more.
Beautiful secluded hotel”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Our room was directly over the water. Sipping wine on the balcony at sunset without a single other human being in our sight was a great experience indeed. Food in the restaurant is good, the pool is big and beautifully situated, and the staff are especially personable and hospitable. All of that being said, I wouldn't want to stay more than one night for there, for the same reasons everyone else mentions here; it's REALLY far from the town. Generally hotels in Thailand offer motorbikes for rent, but Blue Sky does not. The only option to town is a 700 baht "tour." I think they seriously need to address this issue if they want to get a higher overall rating. People appreciate convenience and flexibility.
Best in Ranong”
Ranong isn’t set up for the tourist market but this is the best accommodation option we could find. Location is beside the water and very peaceful. Don’t expect beaches in this part of Thailand though, it’s more about the beautiful scenery. Staff were very attentive and professional. The garden view rooms are small and not in a nice location, but much cheaper than the ocean view rooms. You can still enjoy the ocean front area though as they have their own jetty near the pool and you can stroll through the lovely gardens. I wouldn’t recommend swimming in the pool, it’s murky and the water isn’t properly filtered. The road into the property is awful and needs to be made smooth, we have a 4WD but it would chew up the tyres on a regular car.
No facilities, only swimming pool. No beaches. Also the resort is quite old and low maintenaince. If you travel alone, please do not select Forest zone, it’s seperated from other zone. It’s very front, restuarant, swimming pool and too quiet, I bet you will be regret to get what you pay for sure. The location is far from main road and the road is very poor. If you have no car, you cannot go anywhere, stuck at the hotel without interesting activities. Not worth what you pay for.The only good thing is staffs are nice and foods are delicious.
Get me out of hear I am not a celebrity ”
I had to ring agoda to arrange a transfer after a night of hell. No security or staff on the premises after 7.00 in the evening. When i arrived all the staff were lounging around in the bar reception area. The place was filthy. They tried to give me a room in the woods a walk up the hill in the pitch black to my room which resembled a hut. After going back to reception and explaining i had booked a bungalow by the sea I was then told the hotel was full. I was then ignored by the girl on reception for nearly one hour. If I could have got a taxi I would have gone straight away but the location was in the middle of no where. They then said i had to pay extra. I paid it and was then given a new room the doors and windows did not lock properly the tv did not work the wooden decking was rotten. Agoda reimbursed me after I had shown them a video and made a number of phone calls and sent them emails showing them the situations I was in and the fact that i did not feel safe.
Stopped for a Night Here ”
Pricey compared to local rates however resort was satisfactory in cleanliness and service. Breakfast was typical Khao Thom or 711 sausages with cold toast. Wouldn't make it a point to go here but suited our needs on the way from Bangkok to Phuket on a road trip.
Nice hotel with friendly staff but.”
This was a very nice hotel when it was first built 15-20 years ago but, the rainy weather in Thailand has taken its toll on the roofs of all buildings at this hotel. Stained ceilings and rotten wood and fiberglass is evident everywhere you look. Pool deck Wood is lifting up and away from its screws causes many walk9ng hazards. So much money needs to be invested right away to save this nice hotel from futrther damage. The staff does its very best to make all guests feel comfortable while staying here. The sea view suite that I stayed in for two nights had many flapping roof pieces that were no longer anchored to the trusses and made so much noises each night when the heavy wind and rains began. AirCons worked well. Not enough charging plugs near the night stands. Comfortable bed and pillows. Warm water for showering, not hot! 1st night the Chef made a very delicious piece of grilled sea bass with garlic butter drizzle and fresh steamed mixed vegetables and fries.
Good location, beautiful view, 6000 THB for suite room without bathtub . ”
Staffs are not well trained for such hotel price. Breakfast is like stay in THB 1,000 hotel.
Very nice place and services from staff.almost is good.”
Would like more favorite of breakfast menu. And the road is quite rough not prefer to travel in the night.
Nice pool& beautiful view”
Pro‘s: Beautiful location Great pool Friendly staff Relaxing atmosphere Con‘s: It‘s far from everywhere (ca. 15km from Ranong) Resort should offer car or scooter for rent Better have own a car/ scooter, even they can arrange a "taxi" Wifi/ cellular are weak almost everywhere (especially forest view area), often got disconnected which is annoying
Great spot hidden away from everything”
Bit of a drive from town, but a really nice property. The bungalows were quite nice and the swimming pool overlooked the ocean. Only thing that really bothered me was the restaurant/lounge closing at 21:00. Was a bit rushed through a bottle of wine.
Blue Sky has a very beautiful location, the shore front (sea view) facillities are by far the best and well worth the money. Wouldn't recommend the facillities that are up the hill as the view isn't that great. The staff is excellent! Very helpful and caring for each guest. The kitchen and food service is also excellent. Great dishes, very modern. Not sure what was wrong with their swimming pool (located by the shore) but the water was light brown.
Great stay, staff were amazing.. Took us a bit to find it using GPS but once we did it was worth it with an amazing morning view over to Myanmar. Food was pretty good but the bed were the beds super comfortable I could of stayed in it all day.
Best place to stay in Ranong”
This was my first time staying at The Blue Sky Resort@ Ranong and I loved it, I can't say anything bad about it. The staff are so nice, easy to talk to and welcoming, you instantly feel at home.
Amazing litte gem”
We spent two days here after being on Koh Phayam before heading to Chiang Mai. While the location is a bit removed (smokers, buy a couple extra packs), the serenity is incredible. It felt like we had the place to ourselves. The English of the staff was spotty, but a good chance to practice your thai and the staff made every effort to accommodate any request. They offer a free transfer to the airport and got us there in time. The place is beautiful and the rooms are very reasonable for what you'd expect. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.
Almost perfect expect the bad entrance”
Everything is almost perfect except the bad entrance. The entrance road is very very bad. That hurt my car a lot. Moreover there is no light at all along the road. You guys may not able to drive for sure after sunset. That also make me didn't wanna go out anymore, after entered because of the entrance road. The food taste is quite good for me. The impression is the atmosphere and entrance. It fulfilled my vacation as awesome. If they improve the entrance, I may visit there again.
