Great stay! Cheap and private. Good Location”
Privacy, cheap and great location
Though a distance from the subway station, it is very near to shopping areas just a few streets down. There are also a number of pubs and bars down the road. The rooftop terrace is awesome though underutilized. With a low budget for privacy, this hotel helps with the four walls (though very small room and no ceiling for individual rooms). I met some wonderful fellow travellers there too! :)

It is suitable for the location and the price. I think that it's worth 10 dollars less, but because of its prime location, this is literally a bargain with quality! Think about it, you get your own door, your own bed as a solo traveller and I think that's literally enough for this area most especially. I appreciate The Bowery House so much for their accommodation. The beds are soft and the blankets are very warm and heated. THANK YOU for that! I had no problem with the bathrooms either. BONUS: They have a beautiful rooftop. Check it out. I miss it already. The only downside I can think of to this is the no elevators. The stairs isn't so much a problem but I had one huge luggage. I do appreciate the staff helping me get the luggage up and down though. I stayed for four nights and I would have stayed another week. Thank you!

Charged extra for room I didn’t book”
I arrived at the Bowery House hotel and checked in with no problems. For more details about the hotel, please see other reviews, but overall I would say the location is excellent and the room was satisfactory, but the overall cleanliness of the hotel, especially the bathrooms, were lacking. My biggest problem happened when I checked out. I was told that the room I was staying in was a “premium cabin” and so I had to pay extra on top of what I already paid for through Agoda. I wasn’t told anything about this when I checked in, and I had no way of knowing that my room was “premium” in any way, so I had no choice but to pay, especially since I was jet-lagged and exhausted. Overall: you get what you pay for, and if you’re desperate to stay in this area, you could do worse, but I did not have a good experience.

The rooms are small but very clean, but it’s the staff that make this place, so helpful and nice”
Staff and the lovely roof garden are definite pros. The rooms only have trellis as a roof so all noise travels, but for the price I think that’s fair enough. Overall lovely place, will definitely stay here again

NOWHERE does it say this is a HOSTEL. In fact the name is The Bower House HOTEL.... Apparently the rooms have no ceilings!! Common shared bathrooms!!! No talking in your room after 7PM!!!! NONE of this is ANY where on the website... It MAY just be a fine place but I didn't stick around long enough to find out...

we ended up staying at my cousin's instead. The rooms have walls but they don't extend to the ceiling and everything is open, so you can hear every sound. Its a great location and price, but would have been much better if it was clear that this was basically a shared floor.

Helpful staff but very strange (and dark) design. Does not compare with the dozens of small pod and capsule hotels I've recently stayed at in Asia. Maybe the owners need to travel more?

This was a last minute thing, and we were looking for the cheapest space possible. Everything was great, clean, and cozy, but please beware there is LITTLE privacy. every cabin has NO ceiling. You're in a cubicle. That is all it is. Besides that drawback this place is wonderful. The bathrooms are clean, although on different floors which present a bit of an issue. No regrets about the last minute stay!

surprising”
i guess i expected the room to be bigger but it did say the size in agoda before i booked. but still, i don't think they should've had a room this small in the first place. you can't even stand next to the bed properly. i'm petite so I can't imagine other people to stay in the room. my foot even can't fully extend when I sleep. Most of the staffs were nice but there was one really bitchy one. I guess because it's so cheap, this is what you get. But I won't recommend anyone to go here and I definitely won't come back. Location though, is awesome.

NYC solo weekend”
location and accessibility from airport, cheapest offer given that I had to book a week before my travel date, accesibility to good coffee shops and restaurants in Nolita
Bowery House has cabin style rooms that were really small and just made for solo backpackers (i had a medium luggage and backpack and it was tough fitting it inside the room). The bathrooms were shared and I didn't experience bathroom traffic with my stay. Its 3rs floor up building with no lift, so it was difficult for folks with luggage (like me) to go up and carry all my stuff up. I chose to stay at the Bowery because it was convenient for transportation, safe and secure luggage (since its not a shared room), and was the cheapest option in the area. I had some mixups with the charging of the room as I was double charged (paid in full but hotel receptionist advised that only first night stay was paid) but was able to sort this out and get a refund after my trip. Would recommend for solo backpackers that are flying thru JFK and don't have much needs for cozy room. Its also a plus for me that there are food coffee places and restaurants around the block.

Very good service, Very polite and good manner, and very helpfull. Thanks a lot which makes us to consider nto come back to New York again.
As a matter of fact, I have nothing much to say. Everything is good. We were very satisfied with the comfort accomadation, services and security at our stay. One exception, needs one small garbage or dustin bin in each room so that the roomcleaner can can collect this every morning. Otherwise everything is good. Thank you all.

The Staff,the location the location
After dragging my luggage up several flights of stairs I was astounded to see how small the cabins were and they had NO ceilings.which meant you could hear every thing going on next door.I booked 6 nights and probably only had 3 nights sleep because a group of girls chatted loudly until 1 am.This place is a hostel, and could do with a shelf and mirror at least in each room. The bed was comfortable and the towels white and fluffy, but that could'nt make up for the lack of privacy. The staff were very helpful.

good value near soho...if you're a good sleeper”
inexpensive, clean, friendly and helpful staff
The Bowery House Hotel is a good option for solo travelers who don't need a lot of space and don't want to pay a lot for a centrally located hotel. Cabins are the length of a bed, and I could touch both side walls with my hands outstretched. So they are quite small, but they are secure, and I didn't really care about space since I only needed a place to sleep and store my luggage. There is no ceiling on each cabin, and there are many cabins located within one large space on each floor, so it can get noisy at times. They do provide earplugs, but I would recommend bringing a sleeping mask as well because it is not completely dark in the cabins. The shared single-sex bathrooms were clean, and I never had to wait for a shower or toilet stall. Wifi worked well, and the roof was a good place to go for a little quiet or to make a phone call (phone calls are not allowed in the cabins to limit noise). The only thing I wish the hotel had somewhere is a full length mirror. SoHo, Little Italy, and Chinatown are all right there, so there were a lot of great restaurants, bars, and shopping within easy walking distance. It's near a number of subway stops, too. I am a female and was traveling alone and felt perfectly safe in the hotel and surrounding neighborhoods, day and night.

First time at a hostel!”
Nice, clean bathrooms and common area. Friendly staff.
as with any hostel it was noisy at night. we were in a room where the ceiling was open to several other rooms and the hallway so you hear everything. they provide earplugs though :). additionally the entire place is dimly lit. this is a bit of a problem coming up the steep stairs entering the hostel. sunny outside, dark inside, dragging heavy luggage up steep stairs...just a recipe for bad things.
