The best location and good value”
This hotel is from a repurposed office building so not all rooms have windows and a good view. It has an industrial look as they made use of upcycled materials, no paint and flooring. It may an acquired taste due to the cold feel of the interiors. The best part of the hotel is the location. It is walking distance from the pier, good restaurants and the commercial area right along Rizal Blvd. The accessibility also makes it noisy to traffic and some guests. Since the building does not have any sound absorbing material, this can be a problem. But unlike many complaints of other travelers, the noise was not as unbearable as some stated. We come from a busy part of Metro Manila so traffic sound is not new to us. The best part of the hotel was the excellent quality of their beds, beddings and pillows. So sleep quality was excellent. The bathroom size is very decent. Breakfast was pretty good but made the mistake of ordering their Spanish chorizo for take-away. It was like they had the last piece of chorizo and broke it up into a hundred pieces. As a heads up, they do not give early check-in but will for an extra charge. Online inquiries are also replied quite quickly. As a whole, it was a pleasant short stay.

The best location and good value”
Interesting repurposed old building turned into a hotel. The look is industrial with upcycled materials for their rooms. The exposed finishes do not offer good sound insulation from people on the ground floor and street traffic. The best thing about this hotel is the location which is right on Rizal Blvd, the main road of Dumaguete. It is accessible to restaurants, the commercial areas and the pier. The sleep quality was very good as their beds and beddings were very good. Breakfast was ample except for the take-away breakfast we were given with the Spanish chorizo that must have been the last piece broken up into a hundred pieces. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Online inquiries were responded to very quickly. In general, this was a good find and will definitely stay here again.

hippest and coolest boutique hotel in the city”
what can you say about brick hotel aside from EXCELLENT!..This place is a repurposed boutique hotel from the old CAP building (those who were victimized by this scam like us should remember it well) into a modern, exposed, hip and industrial accommodation was a welcome surprise to us. The whole ambiance of the hotel from the front desk (with the vintage racing motorbike), open kitchen/dining area, repurposed tables and rooms (from wooden crates) with modern toilet facilities and strong wifi...boosts the Bricks being (to my mind) the 'hippest and coolest' hotel in Dumaguete City. Staff are young and very helpful. Food in the open air restaurant is good (but I hope they add more items than pasta and pizza, burgers and Pinoy breakfast or what others also serve)...I would have imagine they have more dynamic and innovative food choices....they have cool acoustic nights every weekends in the open...close to the cool breeze of the famous Boulevard! (which is being threatened by a proposed 174 hectare reclamation project about 1-1.5 kms from the shores of the Boulevard). Some things to improve (by hotel) - power cards aside from key cards ( I know...you need to conserve energy by using only 1 key/power card but the heat in the room coming from outside is not a soothing welcome for tired guests); city tourism office/hotels as well. - local tourist and interesting sites MAP!!...This is a standard in any city or major town abroad.. that gives a visitor (local or foreign) what to see, where, location, hours of operations, updated fees (if any), etc...also list of available (i.e. accredited) tours/providers (standardized in terms of places to go - and rates), with a little information on what to expect....so that visitors don't have to haggle with whoever/or always that perception of being scammed by locals (which is NOT the case in Dumaguete but typical in many tourist areas)...SO this will improve the visitor experience (NOT only on the physical and cultural side) but

Cleanliness at its best”
When I am considering a place to stay, I always thought about safety, security, and cleanliness. Well, I got these covered with The Bricks. Apart from its location which is very near to Rizal Boulevard, it's also very near to the port terminal. And oh! Breakfast was delicious!

Beautiful hotel with interesting design”
I spent two nights in Dumaguete in this hotel. The location is very good and close to the ferry terminal. The room was very clean and the bathroom was in good condition. The price for the Philipinnen is a bit higher than usual but ok for the bid.

Everything is within reach”
I love the industrial design of this hotel, makes our stay cozy and young. Nice staff and their breakfast is good. Their location is perfect, everything you need is within reach. It is just beside the Silliman U, the famous Sans Rival Bistro, Dumemaguete port and Rizal blvd where you can binge your way to streetfood til 3am for that late night cravings. Grocery store and convenience store is walking distance.

Perfect location”
Perfect location for us as the port to Siquijor and Bohol is just a five-minute walk. It is also right on the boulevard and waterfront. Everything seems to be within a walking distance to the University and the city center. Our room was clean, and the bed and linens and pillows were very comfy. The only complaint I had was the shower drain. It was so slow. Breakfast was okay. You had a choice of filipino or western breakfast. Staff were helpful.

Fantastic location and more!”
Location is perfect, directly across that section of Rizal Boulevard where the street food stalls are at sun down. And right next door to a bank if you need an ATM. 5-20 minutes walk to most attractions, restaurants, bars and massage places. Room is ample, unlike some that tend to be cramped. There was a leak on the ceiling in our first room (307), but we were immediately moved to another room shortly after we’ve reported. Comfy beds, clean and fresh-smelling towels, shower water pressure could be better. Check-in and check-out process are efficient. Restaurant/bar is okay. Only tried the included breakfast and it was okay, and a few mojitos on our first night. Staff are very friendly throughout the stay. Free transfer to the airport was a pleasant surprise. Overall great stay.
