Great backpackers! ”
We really liked our night here when in Nelson. One of our fave backpackers in NZ! The staff were friendly and knowledgable. The room was really nice. All the sewn/hanging bug beetle decorations are a great touch. There was even two chocolates in the shapes of bugs on the bed when we arrived! Such a lovely touch!! The wi-fi was fast and reliable. We didnt use the kitchen as we went out for dinner so i cant comment on that. Bathrooms were clean. Good location!! Would stay here again!!

I just stayed one night. And it was so good backpacker. There was a parking area for cars, they offered FREE unlimited wifi and breakfast. The backpacker was so clean and pretty. If you guys are looking for a backpacker in Nelson, I would recommend this one!

Very good”
The place has a good location as it is near the city centre. It took a mere 5 minutes drive to get there. Also, there is large and clean kitchen and area for different backpackers to mingle. However, there were a few issues that I had with the room. Firstly, the room that I got was not able to lock properly. I had to slam the door or push the door really hard to do so. Secondly, when I first entered the room, the bedsheets were just placed on the bed with a stack of comforter and pillows at a corner. The room did not look ready for guests to sleep in. Nonetheless, it was a relatively comfortable stay in Nelson!

Home sweet home”
We had a great stay at the bug backpackers, you really feel at home there and all the decorations makes you think you are protected and welcome. The kitchen is great, the sleeping room was like a sleeping room even if we were 4 and the fresh bread in the morning was super good. Amazin how the tenants and the workers there are working hard! The only improvement I would suggest is that our mattrasses were a bit too soft.

The Bug Backpackers is colorful, cozy and homelike, I really enjoyed my stay here. It's a bit of a walk from the city centre but the atmosphere makes up for it. Also the wifi is excellent and free breakfast (lots of different breads and some jam and peanut butter) is a nice bonus.

Very Good”
We enjoyed our stay here. Lovely spacious double room, big garden with seating, clean and friendly staff. The only negative for us was there there were quite a few young people here who took up all the space in the communal lounge most of the time and the kitchen is pretty small. However can't really complain for the price and given the fact it is a backpacker hostel.

There are a lot of rooms come with 2 separated building which both have own kitchen. The manager is well organized at the room and facilities. She and her staffs keeps cleaning and tidy their backpacker in the outstanding environment. Only annoying thing is location which is a little bit far from CBD. You can do an exercise by walking for 20 minutes ;)

Lovely hostel and very good value ”
I had the double onsuite room which was very spacious and had a Paris theme which was a nice touch. The room was clean and had the hostel had everything I needed. The owner was extreamly friendly and helpful and the hostel offered free use of bikes and a nice breakfast. Can't fault it for a budget stopover

Stayed one night, arrived after hours so they left key out for us. Lovely room, the only negative thing I could say is that toilet/shower was always in use so there was always a wait. But rooms was good and close to the supermarket

Very good and spacious room. Friendly and helpful staff. Good price for New Zealand. Not in downtown, but easy to go by car (2 minutes). Would stay here again for sure.

Good enough for me ”
The bed was good! But a lot of light came through the curtains so didn't sleep great plus you can hear every little sound. The toliets and showers smell like pee badly but appeared clean. Free breakfast aka bread. Location it's a nice walk to the center if you don't mind walking.

Nice and comfy twin room”
The twin room that I get was comfy and nice. Shared toilet and shower room are clean too. Kitchen are rather packed during meal hours. Friendly and nice staff.

Standard hostel but far from city center, nothing special”
Booked based on high rating and rave reviews from past travelers and travel guides, but I do not know what all the hype is about. It's a fairly normal hostel but a bit unkempt and in need of some maintenance (stoves didn't work, bolts in bunk bed were loose, etc.) The "15-20 minute" walk to town took 30-40mins each time and I walk quickly. 'Free breakfast' was white bread, PB, and jelly. Garden was a nice feature but lots of cigarette butts and some trash. Again, it's no worse or better than your average hostel, but a long walk from town with disappointing features and cleanliness. If I could do it over again, I would stay in a more centrally located hostel.

Few Parking spaces. 25min walking to downtown. Good fish and chips near by. Small room, check in at 4pm. Free breakfast(heaps of choice, not just cereal). Cozy lodge. But that’s it. It’s good to stay for a night.
