Quiet, elegant luxury”
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay of 11 nights at this hotel in late March, early April 2013. Location. It is located in Akasaka, on a hill right behind Hie-Jinja, a major Shinto shrine of Tokyo. One can see the hotel from Sotobori-dori, the main thoroughfare that runs in front of the shrine. But there is no access to the hotel from Sotobori-Dori. By car, one has to drive into a side street then up the hill. On foot, it is best to go up the shrine and follow a hidden footpath to the main hotel entrance. This means that the establishment is pretty much protected from the hubbub of Sotobori-Dori. There is a secluded luxury to such a location. This is very Japanese (or French for that matter.) True luxury is never displayed ostentatiously but kept somewhat hidden. However, seclusion in this case does not mean isolation. Indeed, one simply has to go up to the shrine from the hotel, go down the main staircase to Sotobori-dori, and cross to the other side to find oneself in the action of the back alleys of Akasaka. Shops, restaurants, bars, nightclubs of all stripes. Going up Sotobori-dori, one soon runs into Aoyama-dori, another major thoroughfare lined with all manners of fancy establishments, for example a dealer for McLaren cars! In a nutshell, this location combines the best of both worlds: quiet uncrowdedness but not too far from the ‘action’ should one chooses to partake. This is a rare combination in Tokyo. Places like Shibuya and Shinjuku are quite lively but there, one could never escape from the crush of humanity. Finally, I enjoyed very much going through the shrine everyday as I came and went. Transportation. There is a subway station right below the hotel. One can take the elevator in front of the bell captain’s desk down to the station. Officially it is Tameike-sanno but like most subway stations in Tokyo, it is linked via tunnels to many neighboring stations. In this case, one could walk from Tameike-sanno to Kokkai-gijidomae, and even Nagata-cho and Akasaka
Perfect stay”
Very beautiful and cozy hotel. The service was perfect. Staff was very helpful. The rooms were amazing with stunning views of Tokyo. Big enough for a family with a grown kid. Bathroom was big and comfy. The only minus were perhaps the amenities. They were a little bit simple for a 5 star hotel. And there were just the basic ones. Like no facial cream, nor make up remover. But that’s not important just a nice plus being a lady. The situation of the hotel was perfect with 3 metro lines in the basement of the hotel. And a lot of things are within walking distance from the hotel. Lots of nice restaurants and shrines. I would definitely stay again at the Capitol Hotel Tokyu.
Dear Ann Thank you so much for your positive comments. We are happy to hear you have enjoyed your stay in many aspects. We truly appreciate your recommendation. We hope to welcome you back again for the next time as well. Warm regards, Yoichi Furusawa Duty Manager
nice and comfortable~”
It's a nice experience staying tokyu capitol hotel. Traffic is very convenient as it directly link to several rail lines. Hotel is elegant and quite. The room is big and well organized with Japanese style elements. The view from room is nice, and what surprised me is the Mt. Fuji as my window is southwest direction. There is a shrine located next to the hotel, it's a good place to have a walk there. Also just southwest direction there're many restaurants can be chosen. Could be the great choice if you stay in tokyo!
The best hotel we've ever stayed in, excellent accomodations, location and service”
This review is long because I wanted to be detailed, but if it’s too long… TL/DR (too long/didn’t read): Japan is a country with a high standard of service and a high level of food quality; this hotel is world-class even by those standards. Do not hesitate to book here; do not waste time considering other hotels. Unbelievable location, décor, rooms, food, and service. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Location: Located in the Chiyoda area, which is central Tokyo, the hotel is in the business district, very close to the National Diet Building and Library, the Prime Minister’s Official Residence, and only a few blocks from the park where the Imperial Palace is. It is a very quiet and peaceful area, but there isn’t much to do in walking distance, besides restaurants and some shopping. However, the hotel has a subway station IN THE BASEMENT. In. The. Building! So, we literally went everywhere we wanted in Tokyo right from the convenience of our hotel. Getting around was amazingly easy. So, even if you wanted to hang out in the more youthful areas of the city (Shinjuku, Roppongi, Shibuya) or somewhere else, the hotel is super easy to get to. Hotel staff will call a white-glove taxi to the entrance for you if needed, and they can probably help you procure a rental bike if desired, although I didn’t do that. Also in the hotel, is a 7-eleven (which are amazing in Japan, search “7 eleven japan” to learn more, convenient place to exchange currency), a florist, and a pastry shop. Please note that if you decide to ride the train during Tokyo’s legendary rush hour, you will literally be crammed into the train by the train station staff. Search Youtube for “Tokyo Japan Train during Rush Hour”, if you don’t believe me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hotel interior: An immaculate and well-designed combination of traditional Japanese architecture, and modern style. Gra
Always a wonderful experience to stay here!”
I've stayed at many hotels in Tokyo over the past 30+ years, but the Capitol Hotel Tokyu is at the top of my list. It's not a standard-issue international hotel, as distinguished by the modern Japanese touches throughout. The hotel provides a standard of care for its guests that is seldom matched.
Comfortable stay with attentive and friendly staff”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Capitol Hotel Tokyu. The room was pretty big by Tokyo's standard and it was very new. The staff were also very friendly and most of them spoke English. All in all, I'd return to the hotel when I go back to Tokyo.
A nice spacious room with helpful staffs ”
Normally, when we are in Tokyo we always choose hotel at Shinjuku, very convenient with the trains. Anyway, we stayed at Capitol for 2 nights. It was a great experience for us to get to know the new train route. There's a Tokyo Metro subway just below the hotel. We loved this hotel. A spacious, clean & nice room with awesome view. Our room was on the 26th floor. The staffs speak good English. Very helpful & friendly too. We haven't got the chance to try their restaurants yet, maybe next time. We will definitely come back & stay here again when we are in Tokyo.
Great service and good disabled access room”
i stayed at the capitol for about a week and was very pleased with their service. needing a disabled access room, i had e-mailed them before my stay, requesting pictures and layout of the room, which the capitol staff provided very quickly. the room, which was a corner room had a very nice view looking east. audio/video facilities were great and the guest wifi was adequate. the location was alright, being located in tokyo's official & government district it gets very quiet after office hours and weekends. however being central, getting the the major hubs were very accessible via direct underground links to the metro. one thing to note though, the station right under the hotel doesn't have a lift, so overground travel is required, about 250m. metro staff are very helpful. also, the 711 & a small cafe shop below the hotel (accessible with lift directly from hotel) is great for quick bite or breakfast.
Magnificent, the perfect place to stay”
The Capitol Hotel is one of the best hotels in which we have stayed. It was immaculate, the staff were extremely helpful. The room was big, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was a dream. The location is great, the hotel has access to several subway lines, and Akasaka with bars and nice restaurants is only a few minutes walk away.
Definitely i will be back”
Omg, i love this hotel so so much. Location-wise, you don't need to worry about getting lost as they have 3 different metro lines just downstairs of the hotel. Highly regarded service, and cleanliness (they have super wonderful housekeeping service). As it is nestled in the heart of Akasaka, where it is very close to Roppongi and other tourists spots by rail, you can find many different restaurants, shopping attractions etc (you just need to walk a bit from the hotel). Price is not cheap because it is 5-star hotel but you pay for their service and locations. If you are thinking of family trip with small kids, i don't recommend. It is more for people who do the business travel and they seek for the serene and tranquil environment they can relax after the long day. So if you wanna find somewhere quiet staying away from the noise, but convenient, I recommend highly. It is worth the price.
What an amazing hotel!”
This is one of the best hotels we have stayed at. The service was great, the room was spacious and beautifully designed. The bathroom was a dream. The bed was extremely comfortable. Our room overlooked the Hie-Shrine. It is a beautiful green oasis in the middle of Tokyo. The food was delicious, they served the best cakes ever. We had lunch and it was very good too. The location is great with easy access to the Metro and only a short walk into Akasaka. We will definitely book this hotel again.
Spectacular room”
This was my first time staying at the Capitol Hotel. It surpassed my expectations. We were traveling with 2 adults and 2 kids. We booked a corner King with an added bed. (I have no idea how Japanese travelers sleep in such small beds with kids.). The rate was quite expensive, but the room was really amazing. The view is spectacular. The size of the room was also very big (for Japanese standards) The hotel's location is very convenient, as its basement connects to 4 different subway lines. However, if you are pushing around young children with a stroller, there are stairs at the subway exits of the hotel. The staff was super helpful and polite. The facilities were clean.

One of the best”
The hotel was beautiful and serene, service was top notch and the overall experience was incredible. Would recommend this hotel over many of the other 5 star hotels in Tokyo, which often had a noisy scene. Capitol in comparison was half the cost and just as comparable in every way. Stayed in a deluxe room, next time would definitely stay again and upgrade
very good hotel!”
Thx Capitol hotel Tokyo let us to have such great experience stay! Everything is perfect , is safe, big, clean, well design, great location, the staffs are really helpful. I will only stay in this hotel when I back to Tokyo . Highly recommend , you will get more than you think😁
Very good”
The Capitol Hotel Tokyu is an absolutely beautiful, wonderfully presented hotel. In terms of location, it’s kind of an odd spot so if you’re wanting to be in the hub of it all I wouldn’t recommend staying there. My partner and I are also quite heavily tattooed between the two of us and we discovered that tattooed people are not permitted in the gym/pool area which was a bit of a shame but not the end of the world. Not allowing tattoos isn’t that uncommon for Japan though. Overall was a lovely night spent there, beautiful friendly staff, amazing comfortable room and the showers are to die for. (Wouldn’t recommend wasting your money on room service food but, was ridiculously over priced and quite subpar.
Never Disappointing”
We have been a regular since many years back and we travels to Tokyo at least twice yearly. It is the only hotel we stayed in Tokyo as Capitol never disappoint. Love the serene surroundings and of course we love speaking to the GM Aoyama every time. Staff are friendly and there will not be any communication barrier as they speak fluent English.

Nice city hotel which has a great central location”
We had a very pleasant experience at Capitol Hotel Tokyu. We will defienitely be back when we next visit Tokyo.
Peaceful, Luxurious, Relaxing Stay”
Capitol Hotel is worth every yen! It is a stunning hotel with huge windows and sweeping views. Get the corner room - you won't regret it! Possibly my favorite bathroom in Tokyo.
Great hotel - very helpful staff - convenient location”
Fantastic rooms and lovely staff, amazing views of tokyo from the rooms - lot of options for dining in - bit on the expensive side - but just around akasaka and rappongi so you will have alot of options to eat out.
Affordable 5 Star hotel”
This is the most enjoyable hotel in Tokyo - centrally located with easy access to public transportation, a stone's throw from the phenomenal restaurants that adorn the streets of Akasaka. This is a world class hotel and deserves the highest possible recommendation.
