Poor Customer Service”
The place is generally ideal for those who will spend most of their time exploring the island. Total sum of our cash deposits were not returned upon checkout. The front office staff has varying statements about it which are very misleading so we just gave up. Front yard of our room was filled with smelly dog poops.
This is home / tambayan”
The number one commendable here is definitely the customer service, they will treat you as their friends and not just their guests plus the very unique style of the place. It is very colorful liberating to see, a great place to chill indeed! Good job Mokong, Ate Via and Jerick!
Near the surfing spot”
We booked here because I find it amusing how eco friendly this hostel is. I would definitely come back here and recommend this to friends. We booked surfing lessons in this place too.
Cool hostel theme which fits the backpackers' taste”
It has the unique vibe that you can feel once you step in. Perfect for travelers/guests specially to surfers who come and go; who just want a laid back vacation, may it be short or a bit longer stay. The hostel people were the nicest and very accomodating. It's as if we were family. They're friendly and they showed geniune care to their guests. Bottomline- the place is great, budget-friendly and homey. Thank you for taking good care of us Circle Hostel! To the sweetest Ate Via, coolest cook Jeric and the friendly Mokong.
Fun trip in a fun place”
This is my second time at Circle Hostel Baler, and it's always a great time. Everybody is incredibly social and welcoming and you instantly make friends here. Mix with foreigners and locals alike and join the party!
Shower with warm water, and share stories with people from all over the world ”
It's more than a place just for sleep. I met people from all over the world, Philippines, France, Englan, Switzerland and so on. We share our stories, traditions, cultures and passions. It's my first time abroad, and people there show me the right way to travele: be open for different ideas, and sharing everything you get. By the way, they get another Cicle Hostel near San Juan beach, I transfered to that one after two days because there was a storm in Baler.
Community Vibe is 🔥”
It is my second time to stay at their place, and as always it does not disappoint. You'll get what you pay for + they do have some events that you should join! They also host regular beach clean up. :)
Great location for surfing”
If you want to be a walk away from the beach it's best to stay here at the Circle. It's my second time staying there and I've had a satisfactory time. It does get quite lonely especially at night time, as there as has been a change of staff albeit who only speak to each other or people they already know so if you're expecting new friends you're going to need to go out; past staff was one of the reasons we went back there but to our surprise, they've been replaced except for ate Via who's always a darling to have around. We'd give this place the highest score but all it's good for now is the hot shower and a place to sleep in.
Definitely going back!”
Aside from loving Baler itself, I also loved this place. If you're a solo traveler, this place is highly recommendable. I'm sure you'd meet new friends cause I did and it's what makes this hostel different from others I guess. It's just 1 min away from the beach. Staff is great as well. They organize an activity on Saturday nights so everything's lit!
I love the breakfast!”
The common room is a very good place to chill. I just hope the staff would tell other customers to tone down their voices when its quiet time already. Other than that, i loved it ♥️
LOVE IT! ”
First timers in baler but not the last!!!!
i dont know if they have free internet, we do not asked. they didnt offer also upon check in
Booking was a breeze! It's my first time to stay in a hostel in PH so I went to the extreme and booked for a hammock accomodation. The Circle Baler didn't disappoint. I was welcomed to stay at the common area even if I arrived way earlier than check-in time. Mokong's hospitality and service was exceptional. He made sure everyone feel safe and at home and having a grand time. He generously gave us papaya when he learned it's our fave! In terms of facilities, it can get hot at the hammock area but electric fans are readily available and you can actually chill upstairs too where it is more breezy. Toilet and shower area is expectedly clean and water is always available. Kitchen area needs a little tidying with help from guests who use it (yep, you can cook and share). Overall, I'd always come back to Baler for this hostel and the waves.
Best if you're in a budget”
Front office is very informative regarding tourist attraction and local eateries. They have tie ups with a surf school so you're covered on that end and are always updated on the swell conditions. 3 minutes walk from the beach but 3-stars on location cos they're beside 2 bars with loud karaoke singing til 3am. Other than that this place is perfect for what they charge. Place is also pet friendly which sets it apart from all the other accommodation in the area.
Friendliest Hostel in Town”
The Circle Hostel in Baler is a great place to stay for backpackers, especially for those looking for a place to crash while on a surf trip. It's just a few steps away from the Sabang Beach break so it's very convenient especially for that early morning surf session. The place has a very chill vibe and prides itself for its sustainable efforts (including plastic bottle recycling). There's a good selection of accommodations from hammocks, shared rooms, and the usual bedroom for those who want more privacy. Food can use some variety but there are nearby places to eat so it isn't much of an inconvenience. It's great for solo travelers because the staff and the people who regularly stay here are very friendly. Expect non-stop drinking every night and new friends on your stay!
Yes it’s worth putting this Hostel in your travel bucketlist. Perfect chillin place. Cool & super friendly staff and crowd. Great ambiance. 3-5min walk to the beach. No power plugs in the rooms, it’s all in the common area, which is a perfect place to chill. Toilet and showers are fairly clean but bring your own toiletries. Free drinking water in the pantry, you can cook your own food if you don’t want to go out. Stove use has a fee of Php50. Free coffee, bread and fruit every morning. My bestfriend and I stayed for 3 nights and It’s worth every penny. We booked the buddy room with 1 bunk bed inside. There are other cheaper options like co-ed dorms and hammocks. We did some tours as well. Baler Full day tour is Php800.00 PER TOUR, regardless of how many pax are in the group. Side note: Be careful walking along Buton street with phone in hand & screen light on. Always walk with/in a group. I almost lost my phone to a “riding in tandem”. Thank god for mobile phone ring.
Very social hostel but poor amenities”
Ideal for young millennials wanting to meet new people -- the hostel is very social and people there will really encourage you to join the nightly music sessions. However, it is lacking in amenities and not convenient at all. The rooms don't have plugs and you need to go to the common area to charge your phone because they say that "you should socialize" - uhmm, I don't think so -- that is too imposing even if you are a social hostel. I think having plugs inside rooms is one of the most basic things an accommodation should provide.
Great place, good food, and warm people.”
I didn't expect my first solo travel to be this memorable! The staff at the Circle Hostel and the guys of the El Dawn Surf School were very accommodating and friendly to the guests, especially solo travelers like me. The place is nice and clean. What I like most is the common lounge area that is perfect for reading a book and taking a nap after hours of surfing. They also have a kitchen area complete with facilities if you want to cook your own food. Their pasta (with chicken and peanuts) is a must-try! I will definitely book the place again. Their rates are cheap but the experience is pretty awesome.
1st in Baler”
The people are so welcoming. Ate Viah and Kuya Onyo never failed to answer all our queries. The other guests are also kind and very chill which really made the place a good vibe. The place is nice. Every space is instagrammable. The colorful designs made it so beautiful and entertaining at the same time. We have no bad exprience on our stay and we're looking forward to visit again soon. We also want to try the other Circle Hostel in La Union and Zambales. It's nice to be part of the circle. :)
Ideal for solo travellers”
Chill common areas, not to worry about food as they have meals they can cook for you at a very affordable price. You can cook too if you want! Minor issue for me was that some of the ceiling fans didn't work (at least in the girls' dorm room). Luckily the top beds were all vacant the night I stayed so I chose the bed where a working fan is directly above it. It can be hot if you stay in the lower bunk bed as they don't have a stand fan in the room. Other than that I had a great stay here! Will definitely come back and I highly recommend it for people who want to disconnect for a while.
