Modern, Contemporary and Great Location”
I reviewed many comments before choosing to stay at the Darling. Their website didn't wow me but the hotel itself did. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived from our international flight so the hotel staff kindly allowed us to shower in their spa. What a relaxing treat! We were also upgraded to a suite and it was amazing. As we entered the room the drapes opened and the lights turned on. There were fresh nectarines for us to enjoy. The bathroom was modern and the rain shower refreshing. I've stayed at many a hotel in Sydney over the years with disappointment, not this time. I would highly recommend the Darling. The location is an easy walk to Darling Harbor. Although a little pricey, well worth the money!
Fantastic hotel! Highly recommended. ”
Possibly the best hotel I have stayed in. All staff went above and beyond everyday to make sure we had what we needed and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Each staff member from concierge, reception, restaurant and bar staff to housekeeping were so friendly and polite and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel itself is beautiful and rooms clean and luxurious with fantastic amenities. I can’t fault one thing! Fabulous location in Pyrmont with easy access to Darling Harbour, the cbd and ferries to Circular Quay. Also part of the Star Casino complex with many amazing restaurants at your doorstep. We will definitely be back next time we visit Sydney. Thank you for a fantastic holiday!
Unforgetable Stay”
Granted a free upgrade to the suite room with view of the Sydney Bridge. The hotel is connected to the "Star" Casino as well as "Marque" the top dance club in Sydney. The location is superb as you can walk to the Darling Harbour or the Fish Market, all within 10 mins. Breakfast is great with lots of variety selection. The Chinese restaurant in the Casino also serve very wide selection of Chinese Asian food. The lamb shank in the Casino food court is a must try.
Feel like a star! ”
WOW. That sums up my stay at The Darling. The name says it all, the hotel truly is darling. From the amazing in room luxuries, molton brown toiletries, L'occatine lip balm to the super duper comfy bed... It was amazing! Perfect location, trendy vibe.. both my partner and I, truly enjoyed our stay. Definitely our new favourite hotel in Sydney. Will be back for sure! We also saw Joel Madden twice and Seal once, which was a thrill for me. The concierge managed to get us on the guestlist for happening new club Marquee. Thank you The Darling! We appreciated all you did to make our stay so fantastic.
Spoilt Romantic Luxury ”
We booked a Darling Room and were surprised with an upgrade to a Jewel Suite. From the moment we arrived every single member of staff treated us as though we were special. Our room was huge and spotlessly clean. A large mini bar area with dining table and a large sitting area greeted us as we walked in. A huge TV was hidden as part of an art wall which divided the bedroom from the living area. On the other side of the wall was another TV. The bathroom was large with twin basins, freestanding bath and a separate shower room with rain shower. Breakfast in Harvest Buffet is a must. Everything from an omelette station to chocolate fountains to Icecream/sorbet machines. Yum. We dined twice in Black Grill as it too was delicious and the service outstanding. The location is great. A Coles outside the door, Darling Harbour and its attractions a stone throw away. Light rail station next door and ferries a short walk. We can't wait to return. Thank you to all staff for a beautiful stay.
13th Birthday Treat”
We chose to stay at the Star as my daughter was attending the Opening Night of SHREK the Musical at the Lyric Theatre. (Do yourself a favour, brilliant show) As it was her 13th Birthday, I thought let's have a girls night and go shopping in town the next day. Checked in early just after 12 noon. Received an upgrade to a Harbour view room. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and beautifully appointed. Unfortunately time didn't allow us to partake in the pool facilities. However they looked good from our 12th floor window. I would absolutely recommend The Darling to anyone visiting the Lyric Theatre.
A beatiful and classy hotel”
A beatiful and modern hotel in walking distance of sydney's CBD. Housed in the Star Casino Complex there was never a shortage of new places to eat and drink within all price ranges. Thye room was very nice with a boutique hotel feel with all the amenities of a large resort. The hotel was close to the ferry port at darling harbour with links to all the main tourist attractions.
Birthday Visit”
This was an excellent stay: 1. At arrival the attitude of staff was first class (the person we dealt with whose name was Travis is to be commended for his professionalism and efficiency). 2. The room upgrade, although totally unexpected, was nevertheless excellent. 3. During our stay the attention of staff to ant queries etc. was always very pleasant and customer focussed. 4. The suite we were allocated was very comfortable with all necessary requirements and this made our stay trouble free. 5. Housekeeping was efficient and timely. 6. Adjacent facilities such as restaurants and retail outlets were more than adequate. This was our first experience with "The Darling Hotel" and whilst we are not frequent travellers to Sydney for any future trips we will certainly seek to utilise the hotel for our accommodation.
Great hotel - one of my favourites!”
The Darling at the Star is one of my favourite hotels in Sydney. I'm a regular returner, staying at least twice a month. The Hotel is all that you could ask for. A great location, stunning décor, awesome service, and has by far and away the comfiest beds in Australia! I'm a regular here and doubt that there would be anything under expectations.
Luxury modern hotel close to all you'll need”
Our stay was for 5 nights and was a super-star experience. The hotel is beautiful, still feeling new and very stylish. The staff are incredibly helpful and very friendly. Having the cleaning staff happy enough to greet you with a smile when you happen to see them is rare where I've been in the past! The rooms are kept immaculate and are full of the mod-cons, blinds operated from your TV, automatic lights/tv/blinds operation set as a "wake up call", and an amazing shower. Internet access is, from a UK perspective, extremely expensive...and confusing. Rates we saw were about $10 for a 24 hour period, or $13 for an hour. Getting anything reasonable in terms of data allowance required you to really break the bank. You stay right next to "The Star" so everything you'll need is right there: Cafe's, a casino, a (pricey) train in to the center of the city, and lots of shopping and restaurants only a short walk away. I would, in particular, recommend going to the patisserie that is opposite the entrance to the Darling (towards the bay) rather than trying breakfast from the cafe's in the Star though!
Romantic Stay & Lots of Entertainment”
Darling Hotel is superb with lots of entertainment round the clock. You can enjoy lots of nice restaurants with very delicious food and good bars with cheap drinks. Walking distance to Darling Harbour another best spots in that around with good F&B outlets. The Fish market is also within walking distance from this hotel. Overall we enjoyed our stay in this hotel with very big nice and comfortable room as well as the good service from the staff. We will definitely come back to this hotel on our next visit.
Best hotel in Sydney. Back after two days!”
Being at the Star, this hotel is in a fantastic location to do all that the night life asks. The rooms... perfect. I've always been impressed at the comfortability of the hotels - in fact, the Darling has the most comfortable beds on the planet! Service, excellent. This is a hotel without compare in Sydney. I love it.
Best hotel in Sydney”
Without doubt my favourite hotel in Sydney. If you scroll down you will see my name posted throughout the Darling reviews. This place is simply the best there is in the price range that is offered. Great, spacious rooms. Highly attentive staff who take care of all the little things. Would highly recommend the Darling for a seasoned business traveller, to couples weekend, or weekday get away's.
Favourite hotel in Sydney”
A second stay here at the Darling and I left more impressed than ever. The service starts at the front desk with a smile and a feeling that the team will serve your every needs. The rooms are fantastic - from the lounge area, to the bedroom and the bathroom/spa. Make sure that you take time out to try the spa - its relaxing to the uttermost and has handy room for two. The bed is by far the most comfy that you will experience in Sydney. The warning therefore is this: If you like to sleep on hard beds, this is not the place for you. I would definitely make the time to come back again.
5 star from arrival to checkout”
I was met with a cold bottle of water and happy concierge staff. The front desk staff were just as friendly. We were staying at the hotel for my husband's 60th. We were surprised to find out we were given an upgrade to a beautiful suite. Great location if you are seeing a show at the Lyric Theatre or if you want to have a flutter at the Star Casino. The room definitely warrants a 5 star rating. Nothing was any trouble for the staff of The darling Hotel. We will definitely visit again!
Very Nice staff but a rather soulless”
Delightful staff, and the room fine although not keen on bathroom layout but towels were replenished and were large. Beds were very comfy and iron and board great to have. But Can't make tea in the room. Total lack of view except sight of a crane. No nice lounges just a big echoing, passing through reception space. It is all designed really around probably the casino which I hadn't realised. Bar shuts before 11pm and nowhere then to sit. Breakfast is very good and it is a short walk to Darling Harbour. Disappointing for our last night in Sydney as it's just rather soulless. The pool and gym you see on the room tv is in a different tower and spa was booked. Breakfast was included but then added on to our bill, it was rectified by reception but as we had said it was when entering the breakfast check in, this is disappointing. The Shanghai la was so much better as was The Maq in Hobart, both upgraded our two rooms too! Sorry but wouldn't stay again except for the location.
fantastic hotel ”
loved the hotel, we were lucky to be upgraded to the stella suite.. it was so LUX!! thank you to the darling for this. the suite was spacious and the beds were so nice you could just melt in. location was not bad close walk to darling harbour and Barangaroo. staff were very friendly!
Fantastic rooms in exciting location”
I had a 3 night stay which was extremely comfortable at this hotel. Rooms are amazing. I was attending a conference near-by at the Sydney Convention Centre (10 mins walk via Darling Harbour) so unfortunately I did not get much chance to try out all the facilities and restaurants. The concierge and reception staff were very friendly. Casino was fun!
Fantastic location however cleaning needs improvement”
I had two fantastic nights at the Darling, enjoying walking to Darling harbour and fabulous restaurants around. However cleaning was subpar for a hotel of this quality, with dirty towels and the room not properly vacuumed (some old biscuits under the end of bed bench
excellent service ”
The hotel is located in Darling Harbour, where is very convenient for me to attend an exhibition in Sydney Exhibition Center. The facilities in the hotel in very good. There are also restaurant, bar, casino and swiming pool for guests to relax themselves.
