Lovely”

A jewel of a resort

The Emerald Bungalow Resort is absolutely gorgeous! The bungalow we've stayed in is very stylish, tastefully furnished, has breath taking views, is surrounded by the beautiful garden and is very clean and functional. Staff is extremely helpful and a great pleasure to be around. Food is delicious !!!!! ( Kiet has a passion for cooking :-). We've seen some other places in the area, but if we're back there we'd definitely choose The Emerald Bungalow Resort again. Though, I don't think we're in the standard bungalow, because it looked like we're in one of the best bungalows in the whole resort....

It was good choise!”

Nice, friendly, peaceful

The Emerald Bungalow Resort is really good choice for those who would like to take a rest in peaceful place with almost empty of people beach. We stayed there for 10 nights. Our bungalow was with view trough the garden to the sea, with wide terrace and was cleaned every day. It was not luxury stay, but we weren't looking for luxury. I guess it fits to money/quality range perfectly. Also the local restaurant was nice and meals were good. Stuff was very friendly although only owner Kiat knows english in good level. Anyway it was nice to communicate with others as well. Kiat arranged us the boat for local tours etc. But by our opinion the best way how to access Aonang and other nearby places is renting a scooter that can also be arranged through staff. Otherwise you have to spend quite big sum for calling for tuk-tuk or taxi. Each day we enjoyed returning back to the Emerald after spending some time in very noisy and crowded Aonang. Swimming in the local beach was possible even in low-tide period. But in case water is too small you can always go somewhere else and simply plan your day outside of Emerald.

Good value, beutifull beach, kind staff”

Beach, staff, bungalow

we Were staying in the emerald for 6 days, and it was a nice stay. The staff is helpfull and kind and the emerald bungalow resort is great for people looking for a budget holiday with a great beach. The downside of staying there is that it costs 700 baht total to go from emerald to ao nang and back in tuk tuk. Also the electricity in the resort comes from a generator which you can hear from some of the bungalows. Theres also low water pressure in the shower, but none of these issues were big problem for me. All in all i would recomend this resort for a budget traveler who likes quiet surroundings and the beach. Also try the phad thai in the resturant there. It was great :)

Nice bungalows on a quiet beach”

Comfortable, large bungalow next to a quiet beach, good food.

The resort is on a long beach that cannot easily be accessed (ie, walking) from Ao Nang town, so the only people there are those staying one of the few resorts located along the shore - you practically have the place to yourself. To cross over towards town, you can walk to the end of the beach and flag down a longtail boat (though it may take a while) and it should cost about 100 Baht. However, after 6pm you will have to take a taxi or tuk-tuk (500 Baht one-way, or 700 round trip). The food is nice, though portions are surprisingly small, and their bar is quite limited - the neighbouring resorts have more selection. The owner seems to get slightly annoyed when you don't book trips through him, but the ones they offer are not always the cheapest - if you head into town you get better deals. Also, this resort doesn't have internet - but the one next door (J2B) does, albeit very slow. J2B's airport transfer is also 100 Baht cheaper.

right on the quiet beach

The bungalows are spread in a large stretch of land under palm trees and next to the beach. The main building with the restaurant and reception has a nice view on the sea. The owner and the staff are indeed very friendly and helpful. The problem with these bungalows however is that despite some interesting decorations here and there and the friendliness of its staff, they overall give the impression of a rundown deserted place, the gardens and the trees are not taken care of, and trunks can fall when windy. The beach is nice for sunbathing but the sea is too shallow for enjoying swimming. However, it is better than the beach on Ao Nang and on low tide one can even take a walk to the nearby island rock. The room in which we stayed, a bungalow with a fan, had only very basic services: there was no hot water, no internet, and it was rather smelly inside. It may be the case that the bungalows with an air-conditioner are in a better state. The bungalows are approximately 20 minutes by car away from the Ao Nang beach, which means that once you are on the premises you depend on the owner arranging for transportation and pick up. We ended up paying quite a lot for transportation to and from this place to Ao Nang. The place is indeed nice for those who seek to relax and meditate. But if one wishes to visit places in Krabi area it is not so convenient. Otherwise, it is advisable to rent a motorbike, instead of depending on the offers that the owner makes for trips and tours. It is a pity that, given its nice location and its potential, one feels the owner of this place is not doing enough to make the place and the stay as attractive to the visitors as possible: the prices he offers for food, transportation and tours are not the best when compared to prices one can find downtown.

1.beautiful peaceful beach in front of resort 2.well decoration and clean 3. Helpful staff

Pros : Very peaceful beach in front of the resort. So we can take on the traveling boat just in front of the resort. The room is very clean and well decorated . The staffs are really helpful especially the owner. This resort is suitable for who is looking for clean , nice quiet place. Cons : Firstly it was quite hard to find the resort. There isn't any sign to show the way from the main road . The faucet is already broken into half . The water heater function is unstable. No WIFI , TV , fridge available.

We stayed in emerald for a week from 1st to 8th of January and we liked this place a lot! The location is amazing but the very strength of this place is the people. The owner, his son and his friend are fantastic people, always ready to help you and to let you live an amazing holiday! If you want to spend a quit and relaxing period in Thailand and live its very typical life, don't hesitate and book this place! The sea could be better, but when will it happen to stay in a very big and Long Beach without anyone else?

Location - far away from any hustle 'n bustle

this bungalow complex is away from the main area with limited access. go here for a very quiet relaxing time. not for night life and mcdonalds. run by 2 brothers and family who are helpful(they arranged for the car hire i had pre-booked from the airport to be delivered to this hotel to save the taxi to go to the airport and pick it up). originally the place was a cashew nut and palm tree farm and the holiday bungalows built about 25 yrs. ago a generator provides power and this shuts down from 10.00 to 16.00 and again from 04.00 - 06.00 am. the bungalows are well kept and clean but some areas of the gardens and paths are showing there age now. no pool, but sea! the beach area is lovely with shallow water and clean sand.

The owner and his staff are very helpful and kind. They prepare great food, help you to find a taxi from/to the resort and even give you a discount when you book a day trip. Superb location for a slow day on their private beach. It's not located next to Ao Nang Beach, so keep in mind you have to pay some money for a taxi to/from Ao Nang Beach (approx. 400THB).

Very pleasant. Quiet and romantic. If you want to have a quiet stay in Krabi and enjoy both the beach and its surrounding nature, this is the place to go. The kitchen is a bit simple, but the staff is very friendly and attentive. The more expensive rooms are quite adequate. No WIFI but you can use your phone to stay in contact with the rest of the world.

remote beach, surrounded by nature, friendly staff

At first I was surprised at how long it took to get to from the main beaches in Ao Nang but after a little while, I really appreciated how 'off the beaten path' it was. They are powered by a generator so you don't have power 24/7 but that is totally ok as long as you can go without AC during the days; which is easy because of the wonderful shaded areas and nice breeze. There is free wifi and this too is only available during certain times in the morning and the evening, again not a big deal. The people that run the place are super friendly and helpful; my friends needed internet in the middle of the day and were able to use an iphone hotspot from one of the people that worked there, that was pretty nice of them. They will also organize transport and give suggestions on where to go and what to do while you stay there. I loved the quiet walks on the beach early in the morning - you get a sense of having the place to yourself. It's a great spot to decompress.

Very quiet place”

the beach, the garden and the quiet environment.

We really appreciated this place, as it met our expectations, which were to be in a quiet place far from the crowd, where we could relax and enjoy our vacations. The beach is very nice, it's like you have it for yourself only... and when you see all the boats with all the tourists that goes to the other side of the river, you are happy to stay in this place. The price to pay for this quiet environment is that it is far from the city center...about 5km, so we rented a motorbike, and that was really great. The restaurant of the hotel is nice, but it could be better, in the sense that the quantity of food you get is very small...so you are still hungry...same comment for the breakfast. So every evening we went to Noppharat beach (the other side of the river) for dinner. There are many restaurants which were good, and a market along the beach that sells food. No internet connection in this hotel ! you need to go to the city to find a free wifi connection.(not very convenient when you need to organize your trip, or if your are waiting for a confirmation...) Beside that, it is a very nice place if you need a quiet place.

Quite isolated beach location”

Quiet and isolated from the crowds

the beach is very nice if you want seclusion and quiet. not a swimming beach because it is very shallow - gets to 2 feet deep after ~150 meters! this also means that at low tide there are 200 extra meters of exposed beach, with numerius remaining pools, sand crabs etc. very interesting for children. at any given time you could count at most 10 people on a 2 mile stretch of beach! a strong contract to the more popular beaches at ao-nang, railey beach etc, with may people, many boats and lots of constant noise. the hotel and rooms are ok - don't expect very high style, but it is comfortable. no electricity during the day, and no ac until electricity came on at 6pm. no wireless that i could find. the room itself was comfortable and big, shower is very big but water pressure is very low and again - no electricity during the day time, so no warm water either. the grounds of the hotel could be better kept. it is ~300 bhat for a taxi to town, where all the action is (shopping resturants, etc). be prepared with a map to direct the taxies coming back to the hotel because it is an out of the way location. if you can rent a small motorcycle it be perfect and you would not depend on the taxis. you can also ask the staff to order a taxi, or a long-tail boat ride (about the same price to ao-nang either way). the staff was also helpful in arranging 2 different organized day trips.

Amazing setting

If you want peace, quiet, miles of deserted beach away from hustle/bustle , this is it. 20km from town, so travel to town is challenging. The setting is gorgeous. The grounds need lots of work and the bungalows are pretty dilapidated but the setting is absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, thre are brand new, spotlessly clean bungalows just down the beach for cheaper so value for money not there. Lots of potential. Needs some TLC.

not great. arrived to a double-booked room. the rest of town was booked due to the chinese new year, so my friend and i went for what was recommended. this place is not in the best condition... the grounds are not well-maintained, there is only electricity between 6:30pm and 4:30am, no wi-fi, ants in the bathroom (the bathroom generally makes you want to possibly get a tetanus shot), it's overly priced, 20 minutes from town by taxi (rent a scooter.. you'll save a ton), there's nothing within walking distance besides the beach, breakfast is inconsistent and overly priced, the dogs that live there are cute and friendly but barked for awhile one night waking us up and on the day we left the owner argued with us saying that we hadn't fully paid. so, it was less than optimal. the only thing to do there is sit on the beach... literally!

Great location - that said nothing to recommend this so called resort. very few facilities. poorly maintained especially bathrooms with dripping showers. no water at 7,15am one morning! electricity only at certain times. taciturn owner/manager took advantage of isolated location to get transport into town meant owner getting taxi or hiring motorbike at additional charge. my transfer to thai island cost me an extra 50 percent to arrange! 1000 baht with hotel pickup from town cost me 1500 baht. number of items on restaurant menu not available when requested. wifi at owners discretion only for short periods for which he made a big deal1 could not wait to move on!! probably my worst stay for a long time - should be avoided at all costs!
