My wife and I stayed here over the New Year holiday and we absolutely loved the hotel and the staff. Wine, fruit and cheese served at 5pm everyday. Beautiful view from the 23rd floor to wake up to in the morning. Highly recommend this magnificent piece of history to stay at.

Truly, the heart of San Francisco—- I had my hesitations of going to such a fancy hotel. First, most hotels— have that modern and future feel, however the Fairmont in San Francisco is Not like that. This carries heart and soul. A place that makes you feel you deeper in San Francisco, you felt you went in to a time machine. The Fairmont is truly a vacation and experience within itself. I can say, it’s clean, service is excellent—but it’s when you walk in you feel, a part of present history. Everything about this place was perfect, from the service to the room. I have never (ever) stayed in a place that made me feel like a VIP, a movie, a time era, and a comfortable hotel all at once. We had an amazing time— and we only look forward to come back to San Francisco, to just stay at the Fairmont. Truly, a unique experience. (Kudos to Blanca and the front desk team)

Elegant hotel w. great location”
The hotel is very elegant and full of charm. The best time is to stay in the hotel during Christmas time. The installation is brilliant. I enjoyed the atmosphere in the lobby very much. It has a great value to stay with Fairmont which is one of my favorate hotels. The location is very convenient and closed to everything you need to visit in San Francisco.

Good atmosphere and location”
The location is just between the union square and fisherman wharf. You have to get used to the slope of San Francisco or you have better to go by taxi or cable car. The hotel is a historical building with luxurious decoration. The room is clean and spacious.

Iconic hotel”
My favorite hotel in San Francisco. It is a beautiful hotel with fantastic service. It is centrally located so you can easily get to areas of interest, i.e. Embarcadero, Fisherman's Wharf. Highly recommend if you would like something more upscale.

Downtown luxury”
Having spent 14 days touring N California staying in the top traveler ranked tripadvisor hotels, I had been used to a certain level of luxury. However, the Fairmont was on another level altogether. This hotel is truly sumptuous, providing the weary traveler with a serious level of decadence and comfort. The room was large, the bed comfortable, the bathroom fine and the experience very enjoyable. OK the plug in the bath didn't fit the plug hole perfectly so I had to keep topping the bath up, and breakfast was not included, but this was a great way to end my tour and would highly recommend it. As with other San Fran hotels I ditched the hire car prior to checking in as the cost of parking and the driving experience in SF mean that finding other ways to get about is much preferable. Staff very polished.

A Classic!”
I never knew this hotel has such a great history in the minds of San Francisco-ians. Walking along the corridor leading to the elevators to the suites, you will find yourself transported back in time with pictures of the building's glorious past. We got a bay view room and it was superb! Not your swanky new uber chic kind of hotel but it would be top choice for those who wouldnt mind a little bit of victorian deco and knowing you are staying in THE hotel in SF. Quiet but a decent area and easily accessible (being at the intersection of all 3 cable car lines!). For the braver ones, you can try to reach the hotel by foot :)

The 5 star treatment as soon as we pulled up curbside in our car! Every staff member we encountered treated us with exceptional curtesy. Once we entered into the iconic hotel, you immediately get the wow effect and history surrounds you. The rooms are very comfortable and clean with all the small details you would expect in a luxury hotel. Thank you for making our stay in San Fransisco a beutiful memory! had a wonderful stay at the fairmont in beautiful san francisco. the only negative thing is - no coffee machines in the room for the price you are paying. make sure to stop by the tonga room for evening entertainment and a drink and a bite to eat!

Delightful”
We were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary, and the Fairmont was the perfect place to celebrate the occasion. What a wonderful, iconic hotel. Complimentary champagne and strawberries were sent to our room with a personalized note. Every employee was tremendously helpful. The specialty boutiques were lovely and top of the line. The fitness center was excellent, and we were so lucky to be there on Halloween night to enjoy the Tonga Room festivities. The Fairmont experience was wonderful from the breathtaking architecture to the excellent service. We hope to return soon.

25th anniversary ”
Great luxurious hotels sometimes forget ,it's the small things that stand out. The gym although on property is not part of the hotel and guests have to pay a daily fee to use the facilities, not mentioned on the website. We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary there over this past week, we mentioned it upon making the reservations, we also mentioned it upon arrival, a token of appreciation would of been nice from such a large hotel as what we received from the small Inn we stayed in on napa a few days before arriving at the fairmont., to our suprise there was no card or flowers left in our room . That was a bit of a disappointment. But overall the hotel and it's staff are wonderful, will go back. Bring your own card and flowers.

Daughter Got Married”
The room was beautiful with large bathroom and beautiful views of the bay. The staff was so helpful, and so attentive. The beautiful nod to days gone by... along with a bee garden with herbs and honey to be used locally. A long hallway that displays many pictures of the history and the people who stayed at the hotel through the years. Getting around in the city was by walking, cable cars, trolleys, and cabs. It was so nice to come out of the hotel, and have the staff get us a taxi within a 1 -2 minutes. Our daughter got married (she stayed at hotel too.), it was a beautiful, non-stressful time in part due to the great service and surrounding at this historic Fairmont Hotel.
