The ideal location to escape tourism”
First things first, The Fisherman's Chalet is in a perfect location - if you know what you are getting. We arrived not really knowing how isolated the chalet was. It's possible our isolation was heightened by the fact we went in May and the mini market next door was shut, as was the bar over the road and the one on the beach. There is a beach approximately a ten minute walk away but it isn't your typical Thailand beach. It is rocky and there's a lot of rubbish on the sand but it is empty and you can sit on the hammocks in absolute peace without anyone bothering you. A 20 minute walk brings you to the next resort on the beach front but you are a good four miles from the tourism bustle of Chaweng etc. It isn't walkable and a taxi to Chaweng Beach is 500 baht from the hotel. There are two food outlets next to the chalet where you can get breakfast and food. They aren't the cheapest (by Thai standards) but you'll get a good meal for 200 baht and if you stay a few days the staff will get to know you etc. You can rent a moped or car, which is what everyone seemed to do, but we didn't really fancy it. The hotel appears fairly new. It had the coldest aircon we'd encountered in Thailand. A huge room, porch way, power shower, TV, fridge etc. We were in chalet 17 and the wifi didn't reach - ordinarily I'd not care but there isn't much to do at the chalet so it would have been a nice addition. There's an infinity pool, which is great to wile the hours away in. The steps up to the chalets are steep but we are both young-ish (30 and 28) and able-bodied so we didn't have a problem. If you are looking for an escape from the madness of Chaweng or if you want to have a few days to relax, The Fisherman's Chalet is ideal. It has friendly, helpful staff and, while it isn't exactly authentic Thai culture, it is less westernised than the mess that is up in Chaweng.

Paradise in hell”
Was worried about reviews saying out of the way and no life..needn't have worried having seen lamai after our arrival...(our idea of hell...Ibiza for the elderly)...we loved Fishermans chalet...yes not much here but quiet...2 restaurants, 2 massage places, a beach & a beach bar 5 mins walk away......staff were great, site restaurant very good...we hired bikes from hotel and went where we wanted to go... One minor downside are steep steps to upper chalets..but with the bikes this was overcome...if you want Benidorm don't come here go to any of the main beaches....if you want peace & quiet it's perfect..also if you're looking for authentic Thailand...you won't find it on Kih Samui.....

Peaceful haven”
We stayed at the Fisherman's chalet for 3 nights, at the end of a 21 day tour of the Gulf islands and, although its location was rather too far from facilities like shops, travel agents etc. it was definitely our favourite hotel in terms of cleanliness, presentation and value for money. The associated restaurant, The Fisherman's Outlet, located right `next door to the hotel was also excellent - offering a wide range of Asian and European dishes, wonderfully fresh fish, very good value for money and very lovely staff. If you're looking for a lovely quiet and luxurious get away, far from the noise and bustle of the more developed North, we would highly recommend the Fisherman's Chalet.

Great place!!”
I stayed at the Fisherman's chalet for 10 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although the accommodation is basic, it is comfortable, clean and wonderful value for money. The rooms have air conditioning, hot water and are cleaned daily. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially Nani who was fantastic with my boys. I would highly recommend a stay here for anyone on a tight budget.

Amazing”
If you are backpakers like us it can be long to reach the place cause when you take the tuk tuk , it s gonna drop you on the main road, 3 kms away from the place. We ve been lucky cause a couple of guys picked us up for a lift, otherwise we would have walked, is easier but more expensive if you take a cab. Anyway when you ll arrive you ll think whatever it was, the place is worth the trip! We had a nice room, with coffee and the, clean towels every day, bottled water every day, fridge, so you can buy some nice fruit for breakfast. Nice pool that you can use anytime. Walking distance to a minimarket and a few places to dine. The front beach is a kind of lagoon, very nice at the sunset, many local people and fishermen's boats. You can hire a scooter for 24 hours for 200 thb and with it you can go wherever you want, we d like to advise for a nice place to eat, right before the cross with themain road, on your right a little stall selling fruit (very nice) and just in front of it a little tipical place is gonna be a delicious surprise, only nice thai food! In the chalet the staff was really helpful and our stay was relaxing and awesome! Away from the crawded Chaweng, if we ll ever come back in Samui this it's gonna be our choice!

5 great days in Samui”
I spent 5 nights in Fisherman's Chalet and I was not disappointed. The hotel is small and the bungalows are simple but it makes for a calm and restful stay. The bungalows are clean, they have minimum but sufficient furniture, including a very comfortable bed. The swimming pool is a few steps away. From there you can enjoy the calm, the blue sky, the palm trees surrounding the hotel and the sea in the background. The staff is very nice and helpful. It's an excellent hotel given the price.

The staff is really great and it also offer's a very good restaurant with thai and international food. A great choice for a nice and quiet holiday

Wonderful place in a still beautiful area of Koh Samui”
When we arrived in Koh Samui we spent the first night in Mae Nam because everybody said they Bophut is the most beautiful area on the island. We left the day after because we really didn't like it. This resort instead is in a very peaceful part of Koh Samui, near Lamai (with the scooter) wich has a beautiful beach, but not in the caos. The Muslim village nearby is lovely. There are few restaurants close by that have good and fresh food. They rent scooters and are very helpful. The pool is awesome, the bungalow King size very King!!! I would definetely come back here!!!

Awesome Hotel”
We arrived with three guys at the fishermans Chalet. After ko phangan and ko tao we searched for something more quiet and relaxing. The staff was very nice from the beginning. The Bungalows are super clean and the Air con is realy good. Every Day two small bottles of drinking water. We rented two Scooters for 3 days from the Hotel. It was the best Rent in our one month Thailand Trip. If you walk down from your Bungalow theres the fishermans restaurant. The Food was delicious and the staff was very nice. We definatly recommonend the Fishermans Chalet and would Love to come back.

Great Value”
We had a very nice stay. The food was wonderful with very attentive wait staff. Rooms were very clean and nice, as was the pool. It is a bit far from the action of Samui but motos or taxis are available. As well the staff offered to drive us to nearby attractions and arrange for a taxi to bring us back. Also, a short drive away is Thailand's only Rum Distery where we had one of our best meals in Thailand prepared by their Belgian chef.

Great quiet undiscovered unspoiled”
Awesome stay. As you look at reviews. The most negative is that it is far away from the action, that was the positive for us, If you want nightlife, rent a scooter for 200 baht a day and go to it. Come home and enjoy solitude. The kindness and attentitive spirit of the staff was awesome. The palace is tucked away, two restaurants next to it, two massage places next to it. And lots of places to walk. It is near the butterfly garden if you a looking on a map. Cannot wait to go bCk, am likely to stay here again. Tge place is less than one year old

Nice, big bungalows”
The bungalow we stayed in was very big, clean and new. Everything was perfect - the pool was big and clean, the garden beautiful and the staff friendly but... - its far away from the beach - its very difficult to find, we had to take two different taxis to get there, as the first taxi didn't know where to go and the second time around it took ages to find it - 750 baht later. - the wifi isn't working at all in the bungalows - the food at the restaurant is ok but a bit pricey. But all in all it is a lovely place but maybe not the perfect place to stay when coming to Koh Samui.

quite deserted resort in beautiful garden.”
We stayed 2 nights in the fisherman's village. The room was good and there was a nice porch with comfortable chairs and fantastic view over the beautiful green garden. the bathroom was meant to be modern, but I didn't like it at all, black painted walls, a toilet with a seat which didn't fit at all and no place to put even your toothbrush! The resort is quite deserted at the south of the island and the beach nearby is deserted as well. The sea is very undeep and not suitable for swimming. There are some other resorts in the neighborhood on the beach where you can drink something. If you are looking for total rest and don't want to see anybody; this is the right place to stay!

The Fisherman's Chalet”
veeeeery friendly staff who helped us with everything. The rooms are beautiful and very clean. The infinity pool has salt water. It is obvious that they care about the whole area. Also the staff in the restaurant is very nice and you have a big choice of different dishes. It is a very quiet place, but for our short stay it was perfect. You also have the possibility to rent a motorbike and it takes just a few minutes to go to Lamai City. We can definitely recommend this lovely place.

A Very Relaxed Holiday”
Staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms are super clean with well-stocked fridge and huge comfortable bed with nice white linen. I stayed for 2 weeks and enjoyed the quiet jungle setting, especially the swimming pool and the cooked breakfast was great. I recommend this place for anyone who likes peace and quiet, yet only 10 mins to Lamai and other attractions. They have car and bike rentals as well.
