A great hotel”
Very friendly and helpful staff who were always available. Clean with nice toiletries and comfortable bed. Water, soft drinks, tea and coffee available 24/7. Breakfast was fresh and fantastic with good options. Hotel is very small so very personal feel, but lots of nice seating areas so you have your own space.
Charming Boutique Hotel within the Galle Fort”
The Fort Printers Hotel is a charming Boutique Hotel within the Galle Fort compound that transports you back in time. Highly recommended hotel for its deco, friendly and accomodating staff and its location. However, room deco and fittings are not aging well and would need better maintenance and refurbishing.
We have stayed many places around the world. Fort Printers is on the same level as Four Seasons. The two main factors was the location inside the Fort and the Staff. I don't remember we have had so close follow up and help from the staff. It was like the were a part of the family. Awesome and fantastic. From reception staff, to housekeeping and restaurant staff. I will recommend everybody this place if the want to go to Sri Lanka
Great place in the best of locations”
Loved the stay here. Incredibly neat place in a top location. Lovely staff and great food. The rooms are tastefully decorated and convey the old town charme while being modern. Breakfast was delicious, dinner even more so. Great place, I do recommend!
Beautiful setup in the middle Fort Galle”
It is one of the rare 4-5 star hotel which welcomes children. The location is perfect, the renovation of the old buildings done with style. The patios and the pool are adding a lot to the charm of the place. The rooms are nice, plain and functional with engaging bath rooms. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room has been set fast and well. While the service for the breakfast was unorganised (toasted bread came first without butter and jam - missing items were not noticed by the staff).
A welcoming hotel right in the centre.”
We had an excellent stay, the hotel was heritage style without being pretentious. Peter, the manager, was really helpful and made us feel at home, giving us a tour of the hotel and organising our transport upon leaving. The hotel is right in the centre of Galle Fort so we were able to walk everywhere. Apart from the hotel's own restaurant, there were lots of restaurants and bars very close by. We would definitely stay there next time!
It is very close to main attraction in Galle, and it's decoration inside is full of historical atmosphere, the room is very big and the price is valuable, only a pity is there is little mosquito in the room and you need to adjust the tempeture of air conditioner smaller so they won't bite me
Very pleasant and indeed recommendable”
Right from the welcoming and thoughout the short 1 night stay we were warmly and friendly treated. The "hardware" was fine although we had expected a tv in the room and the swimming pool, which we did not use, certainly could have been bigger. The decor was very well chosen and also the breakfast was a nice treat. Overall we would probably choose to stay there again although competition in the neighbourhood is tough.
The stay at fort Printers was a fantastic experience, the moment we entered the hotel we were warmly greeted with a nice welcome drink and a quick check in without any waiting, staff were very well trained and friendly and a good breakfast. The room was very large and comfortable. All in all it was a pleasant stay.
Stunning boutique hotel in the heart of Galle Fort”
Splendid service in a stunningly-restored building in the heart of Galle Fort. We were only able to stay one night but it was a brilliant experience. We were first given the Prefect’s Room overlooking the pool, but when the aircon broke and the maintenance team couldn’t fix it immediately we were whisked away with profuse apologies to the gorgeous, light-filled Headmaster’s Room. Despite the building’s age and quirks it is clearly much loved by its staff and never fails to win over the affection of its guests. Fort Printers is a shining star among boutique hotels in Sri Lanka and shows just how much potential the unpolished gems of this country hold.
Great Hotel and Great Food.”
I enjoyed my stay here very much. The rooms are spacious, clean and very nice. This was an old newspaper printer and made into a small luxurious hotel. The chef here is very good and the food is great!!!
LOVELY PLACE GREAT SERVICE”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Fort Printers Hotel. Check in was easy. We were in Galle for just one night for a wedding and the staff were very accommodating informing and arranging staff to let us in when we returned very late after the wedding. The room was spotlessly clean although somewhat spartan and small. The bed very comfortable and bathroom was very spacious. The staff were wonderful. They were very helpful in locating driver's quarters, were courteous and attentive. We had the Sri Lankan breakfast - String hoppers, fish curry, pol sambol and prawn curry. The food was very tasty especially the prawn curry and fish curry which was nice and tender. I thought it was a little bit overpriced for off season but I would definitely stay there again.
Charming & Stylish ”
We stayed in 2 different rooms as we decided to extend our stay and our room was booked. 1st room was in the building across the street..we had the downstairs room...very large with a communal living room (which we had all to ourselves)..magnificent . The 2nd room in the main building was above the dining area. High pitched ceiling, full of character ...both rooms were brilliant. Peter & staff are super charming. We loved our stay. Ps while there we had a look at other hotels in the Fort..no competition!!
A wonderful hotel in the beautiful World Heritage ”
Perfect. Greeted with smiles, great hospitality almost felt like staying at a friends house as opposed to a hotel. The staff and food were excellent. Peter and Tanya are perfect managers and very kindly helped me out when I needed a Dr at no expense -very generous and very much appreciated. Would recommend it to anyone and infact have already told our travellers we have met about the hotel.
I don't feel that the hotel is quite five star but it is extremely nice. There were some small things that needed attending to including: the upholstery on the sofa in our room was torn and the bathroom door was grubby. The service in the person of Peter was extraordinary and really made the stay for us.
Great location, lovely helpful staff and beatiful decor to the room and communal areas. The bed was quite hard though! Loved this small hotel and we're planning another night there at the end of our trip.
Lovely, lovely hotel, the building and it's history has been retained whilst adding a cool contemporary interia. Food was amazing, staff were attentive and personable. Ask to stay in the old part of the building rooms there are beautiful.
Lovely boutique hotel in the heart of Galle Fort”
Stayed only one night there, in the Peddlars wing across the road which is what we wanted. Loved the large room and minimalist uncluttered decor. The room we chose was the one downstairs and it was a tad dark as natural light does not quite get to it. One of the upstairs room we saw was much brighter but smaller in size. Only gripe is the mattress. Quite soft and does not provide much support. Woke up with a bit of a sore back but overall, a great hotel with attentive and friendly staff.
Best spot in the fort”
Loved our stay at the Fort Printers. Beautiful 18th century building! We thought the rooms were huge and beautiful. The breakfast was perfect too, and I loved the homemade jam each day. Food was reasonably priced, probably a little more expensive than other places but for the quality, well worth it. Would definitely recommend if you are planning on staying in Galle and perfect central location inside the fort. Loved it!!
Amazing boutique hotel full of character”
This was the best hotel we stayed in during our trip to Sri Lanka. Met with a cool towel and drink, then given a tour of the place with emphasis on the history of this beautiful building. Fusing old with new, wonderful atmosphere. Pool was amazing after a hot walk around the Fort. Relaxing sun loungers under frangipani trees. Our room was the old geography room with its vaulted ceilings, wooden floor boards, quiet air con, beautiful copper shower enclosure, comfy bed and sympathetic furniture. We only ate breakfast there but it was beautiful and fresh. Can't recommend this place highly enough, it is a truly beautiful historical building, renovated with a modern twist wih everything you could want. The staff are a credit too. I don't think I could name a fault. Just go!
