Frame Guesthouse - a nice and simple residence in Penang”
Frame Guesthouse, first, is great for what it isn't. The 3 floors are clean and simple, high ceilings and smooth wood flooring have a bit of a monastic convent feel. The shared facilities are clean, practical and pleasant to use. The rooms are furnished in a practical way and comfortable. The AC works! The WiFi works! Staff always pleasant and helpful. The location is ideal for a short term traveler trying to get to know Heritage Penang, with buses passing nearby, many places to eat, shop, bank, enjoy the nightlife within 10 blocks each direction. Transitioning from the guesthouse to the street is seamless and easy. And it's a haven when you return. Other guests have been calm, disinterested and an interesting looking mix of fellow travelers. It's a pleasure to stay at Frame Guesthouse.

Great stay in the heart of Georgetown”
This was my first time at The Frame Guesthouse. Everything is just like in the pics. The hostel is located on Chulia Street only steps away from the bus stop for the 101 which takes you to Batu Ferringhi beach and the National Park. Bakeries and cafes are also within a 5-minute walk. Location is great, walking distance to all the nice places to check out in Georgetown. Near to great food stalls and night hawker stalls. The facility is an old building converted into an accommodation. WiFi worked really well. The hostel is cleaned daily and offers a breakfast of fruit, toast, tea and coffee. Bottomless Tea and coffee available till 11pm! This is a quiet hostel--not a party scene. Facilities & common areas were clean & well maintained. There is a TV with DVD's. The shared livingroom felt like home. The setback is the bunk light not functioning and there is no place to hang the towel or clothes if you occupy the lower bunk. I will definitely stay here again when I fly back to Penang.

Great location, clean hostel.”
The Frame is located on Lebuh Chulia, one of the main (and most central) streets in Georgetown. There are numerous cafes and restaurants all along the street, and it is also nearby many heritage buildings and many of the town's temples and mosques. The hostel itself is quite clean, with good facilities that are well maintained. The only complaint I had was that some other guests could be quite noisy at night, when there was supposed to be a quiet time (after 11pm). Other than that, I found the employees at The Frame very welcoming and helpful, and I enjoyed my stay there.

Best guesthouse in George Town”
We have loved our stay in The Frame Guesthouse. Everything is perfect. All is very clean, toleits, shower, bedrooms. The breakfast is excelent. Toasts, butter, jam, fruit coffee and tea. You can enjoy free coffee and tea during all the day and you have drinking water yo fill your bottle. The best of the hostel are the staff. They are wonderful people. They help you as much as they can and they are very kind. Our favourite is Din, he works at nights and is lovely.

Central location, comfortable base”
The Frame hostel offered us basic but comfortable accommodation during our short stay in Penang. We are a couple in our 20s and opted for a double room with a private bathroom, which suited us well. Breakfast wasn’t great - bread and preserves - but there’s lots of nice cafes nearby for something more substantial. Our aircon in room 17 was rather noisy, making intermittent clicking noises which made sleeping a bit difficult so I would recommend earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.

The most stylish hostel experience”
I definitely recommend The Frame for your stay at Georgetown. Spent there 4 or 5 nights. Pros: 1. Location. My dorm's window faced famous Kapitan Mosque 2. Very stylish desigh, it's a pleasure to stay in such an environment. 3. Staff is friendly. 4. Towel and shower gel are provided as well as free city maps and adapter. 5. All premises are clean. 8 bed mixed dorm is spacious, light, with personal lightning and shelf. Cons: Wi fi signal is poor quite often. No curtains on beds (feature I always appreciate in a dorm).

nice guesthouse in georgetown”
Enjoyed our stay at Frame. AC was powerful and kept our room cool after being out in the sun all day. Great location, close to many restaurants, bars, and cafes in Georgetown. Easy to get around from here. Staff was very friendly. Nice bathrooms, always very clean. Beds are super comfortable. Only downside was that we were on the 3rd floor and there were only bathrooms on the bottom 2 floors.

Exceptional”
The host of the guesthouse is very kind and helpful. He helped us to catch a taxi with a good price at 3 AM so that we can take the train on time. The room is really nice and clean. The bathroom satisfied us also. Generally, this Guesthouse is a good choice when come to Penang :)

Clean stylish hostel in fantastic location”
The guesthouse was beautifully decorated, rooms were clean, staff really friendly. And the location was absolutely perfect - right in the centre of Georgetown. We had a private twin room on the top floor but the downside was the communal toilet/showers were on the floor below and at the other end of the building. Very far! We would stay here again but would make sure we had a room closer to shared bathroom.

Friendly and clean”
This was my first time at The Frame Guesthouse and I will totally come back again. Everything is just like in the pics, good breakfast (bread, butter, jam, sweets and even fruits available!). Clean bathrooms and perfect location. The staff is also very friendly and they are always willing to help.

Perfect location & vibe”
A few blocks from Love Lane in the heart of Georgetown, it was a great jumping off point. Right away, we loved the feeling of the place with friendly staff and fellow travelers. Industrial style. The staff was really helpful - we set up our own food walking tour with their help. Quick laundry service. Simple toast breakfast but sufficient since you should really be eating out in Penang. Would definitely recommend!

Best value for money hostel with a good location. ”
It was out first time in Penang, Malaysia and we saw a lot of people recommending this place and so we booked our stay. The location was just perfect, it’s near most of the restaurants and food options. The staff were very nice to us especially in helping us navigating Georgetown. It’s also near the party place so we really had fun!

Very kind guesthouse keepers and cleanliness maintained well”
Spent 3N/4D here in a female dorm. + Room and bed size is quite spacy + Locker was enough for my 35 litres backpack & sling bag + Every bed completed by personal lamp and an electrical plug + They maintain the cleanliness of toilets and main room very well + Free flow tea, coffee, and tap water - The upper bed size will be noisy if we move/climb up - Sometimes the toilets smells not good but it's still clean - Since the 2nd floor tile is from the wood, when people step up, we can hear from our room Overall, The Frame very homey :)

Great location and lots of room!”
Only stayed at The Frame for one night but enjoyed it. A lot more rooms than neighbouring 80s Guesthouse where I stayed before, so maybe not as sociable as some might like. Great common area and right on the main strip. Really liked the minimal furnishings, just try to book a room that is not too high up if you have a heavy suitacase!

Special thanks to Jon who suggested I visit the National Park--my best day! This is a quiet hostel--not a party scene. The decor is minimalist/industrial but that uncluttered look makes for a serene setting.

I would stay there if my son and mom were not coming together”
I paid for double room with shared toilet. Upon arrival in Penang, my husband checked the place. I was informed the room is very clean, air conditioner is very cold but for Muslims, there was limited space to perform prayers. I was also informed that toilet door is zinc. Well, that is reasonable with the price paid. Anyway, since I brought my mom along, we had to look for other place.

Great for my discerning taste”
Great location on the fringe of the backpacker region. Perfect spot amongst the street art and heritage center walking tour yet still quiet at night. The old shophouse is lovely but of course it's an old building so you may hear your guesthouse mates moving around. The only negative was that each room has small windows into the hallway so your room is never completely dark

Love the concept. Great location.”
Basic and standard hotel room. I love the bed so comfy. Price is affordable (private bathroom) No tv but its fine for me. Not suitable if you bring noisy kids because others room can here their voice. If someone flush or walk from the upstairs you can hear it. Breakfast are the best . Fresh fruit and crispy toast.. Great coffee and hot tea. Location really good . Easy to catch the bus or grab . Overall very comfy place to chill but if your kids noisy i hope others guest dont mind it. Plus dont let the small kids running outside the room because the busy main road just infront the main door. Staff. Very helpful and friendly
