The best hotel staffs in my entire 50 years of world traveling experience.”

From the moment our car approaching the hotel the hotel staff is coming up to gree us, smooth checking in, valet parking, handling our luggages to each room, showing us the hotel facilities, guiding us to each rooms, showing our point of interests and providing guidance with local map. When we use the hotel mineral hot spring bath pool the staff provide us with bathing suite with very reasonable price for one of our family member did not pack his swim pants. There's one staff at the pool to provide guidance and assistance with towels and drinks that make us the most relaxing family bath experience. But the best is yet to come, after we retire to our room, ready to sleep, I suddenly felt ill due to catching cold while walking over cold ocean water at Mt. St. Michael and ate disagreeable food on the road during the day before arriving hotel. I called house keeping service to bring hot water and 2 extra bath towels to my room. Within 3 minutes, one gentleman brought 2 bath towels to my room, after knowing I felt ill, he adjusted the thermo in my room to make sure I'm in comfortable warm temperature after he left then the second gentleman walked in with set of hot water, he poured and set the hot water table near where I seat after he make sure I'm comfortable then left and closed the door behind him. The kind words and gestures of the night house keeping staffs makes me so grateful. After taking medication I brought from home with me and a good night sleep, I was fully recovered in the morning and able to continue our traveling in UK. From the moment we approaching the hotel until the moment we leaving the hotel, the hotel staffs are always there ready to give assistance. It's this kind of human experiences that makes this place the most uniquely outstanding.

1st Roman Spa experience”

Pricey BUT most people that book dont realize this location INCLUDES a spa, so you save the money you would normally spend at others. The location is prime. The hotel is spectacular for Bath and the staff is outstanding. My only knock is that it was still a bit high on price and the spa was a bit smaller than it appear in pics. Thermae Spa is directly across the street and looks HUGE but public, less privacy. Didn't see inside it, so hard to know if you get a much more posh experience in that spa versus Gainsborough.

Outstanding”

Our wedding anniversary was made particularly memorable by our stay in this fabulous hotel. The room was luxurious and had many special touches that we really appreciated. The staff were attentive, warm and helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect, right in the beating heart of the city. We traveled their by train and it felt like we stepped off the train and into the hotel. The facilities, especially the spa are amazing. It is the only spa I have been to with complimentary Georgian hot chocolate. You must try this, it is a taste sensation. We ate in the hotel’s restaurant, Dan Moon, and it was a terrific meal. Food theatre of the highest order but in relaxed and welcoming surroundings. You would be mad to eat any where else in Bath. All in all a very special place that we will be certain to return to.

Great place to stay”

Had a fantastic couple of nights at the Gainsborough. It is in a great location for central Bath. I would highly recommend going into the spa. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again. My only complaint would be the cost of breakfast at £30 per person. Would have to rest it as one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in.

Wonderful hotel!”

My husband and I had an amazing experience at the Gainsborough. It was beautiful, tasteful and clean, had incredible service and a beautiful, relaxing spa that we could access in the morning and evening. The location was central and close to the Roman Baths, shopping and many restaurants yet it was quiet and private. Additional touches like the free minibar, chocolates, snacks and the Nespresso machine added to what made this stay soecial

Relaxation, Rest”

Beautiful hotel centrally located. The hotel offers spa access to guests during specified times. Although the times are limited it did not affect us but a suggestion would be to widen the times as could be considered restrictive. Breakfast should be included within the room price as standard. The charge for full English or continental breakfast was £25-£30 per person. Although a 5 star hotel I felt this was a bit pricey: plenty of local businesses offer at a 3rd of the price. Our room on 4 th floor was beautiful. If your short you will need a step to get into the bed, ha . I did not hear any of the residents on our floor . We could see the roof top thermae spa from our room across the way. You will need to pay per night for valet parking. Mini bar is included in the room price and readily replenished. Staff are attentive and welcoming. Beautiful city to walk around with plenty of communal gardens. Eateries a plenty. Excellent communication via email with Gemma prior to arrival

Exceptional”

There are four issues that would make the experience better. 1/ Car parking. YTL offer a service for £38 per day. Compared to the long term nearby at £15. This soon becomes a big difference if you stay for more than a couple of days. 2/ Most people are here to celebrate. If you want fizz, there is only Champagne available, starting at £16 a glass. Why not offer Prosecco at a lower price. 3/ The Spa can only be used between 7-9am and 8-10pm free of charge. To use this facility during normal daytime hours you have to arrange treatments and pay EXTRA charges. 4/ An English Breakfast costs £ 30 per person or £35 per person if you want it in your room! A couple of days stay + £ 140!! In my opinion ALL of the above should be included in the room rate.

Nothing short of fabulous ”

Unbelievable service and attention to detail. Started off not being able to find the hotel thanks to the hire car navigator, saved by one of the wonderful and patient conceirge who directed me to the hotel. Due to the ordeal I was given a room upgrade from my base room reservation which I might add is certainly not an average room and very high quality so I was appreciative of the upgrade to an even better room. I was then escorted around the hotel showing me where everything is and then taken to my room. I made a reservation for dinner and was blown away on the serving of my meals the presentation and the professional service of the wait staff. My only disappointment is that I didn't stay longer than 1 night. This property is more than worth the money, it's stylish, unique and has impeccable service and is all class, definitely the only place to stay when visiting beautiful Bath.

GREAT Staff and Location”

Excellent location of the hotel. The main street and attractions are all within 1-3 mins walk of the hotel. Best front office staff I met in my 8 days in UK. Spent time at the Ritz and Hilton during this trip and I have to say the welcome I got from the Gainsborough is way beyond what the other hotels showed me. I also ran into a 14 time returning customer and that speak a lot about the hotel.

Amazing hotel- well worth the £”

Attention to detail is excellent in this hotel. Everywhere smells amazing, the decorative standard is very high. The room had lots of storage and little details like the Roberts radio that made our stay feel special. We had a spa day when we arrived with the best facial I have ever experienced. The spa facilities are top notch. The service is attentive but not awkward. We ate several meals in the hotel and were impressed by the standard of food. The breakfast in the hotel was very good value and lots of choice. Would definitely recommend this for a luxurious romantic break!

Outstanding staff and customer service. They couldn’t do enough for us. We visited the Thermae Spa, owned by the same group just across the road. The hotel staff were able to get us to the front of the lengthy queue, even walking us over to make sure we were attended to promptly. The hotel spa facilities are smaller but much nicer than the Thermae Spa - if you’re planning a visit I’d use the hotel facilities instead. Wonderful hotel.

Luxury and service in the heart of the city”

The staff were fantastic, really friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. Loved the bar, wonderful staff, a really quiet haven in the bustle of Bath at Christmas market time. Really there are so many more positive things I could say, the classicly stylish rooms and decor, oh and did I mention the wonderful service? So let’s cut to the only con I can find..... everything is very expensive! But hey, I think you get what you pay for. So for a money no object, spoil yourselves (or someone else), stay in Bath, and be treated like royalty, this is the place.
