Loved the location!”
The place’s location was amazing! The staff members were really sweet and gave us a bigger room when requested. The stay was comfortable; however one needs to careful as the walls aren’t thick enough. My partner and I got lucky with a family living next door and the kid made a lot of noise! Rest assured, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay!

I am very much thankful that they let me do an early check-in as requested (without extra charges), much appreciated. The staff was nice however, i think he needs to be a little bit more welcoming, informative, and smiley :) when doing the check-in at least. The room was not very clean and what is more annoying is that there is only one power plug in the room! Didn’t know what to plug in, my phone, my partner’s, or the fan as it was too hot and dry! Bathroom was somehow clean. The building is quite old so expect to hear the floor cracking when anyone is walking in the halls. Location is just great! Overall, i’d add a bit of an extra amount and stay in a more comfortable place.

Location and staff were great, information regarding parking wasn't. No air con but there was a fan.”
Pros: Location, friendly staff, reasonable prices Cons: Parking can be expensive and quiet a distance if you don't know the area. Our first nights parking cost $59 and was a 7 minute walk away which was a mission with 3 young children and our luggage. But then we found parking for $14 per night (6pm - 7am booked online) directly across the road. Staff are friendly but not very good at offering general or helpful information to tourist. We didn't know what facilities were available until we asked and then we seen a sign on the wall showing they offered free coffee, hair dryer, washing facilities, printing etc. Nor did we know about the parking and supermarket that was just across the road. Room was very hot and had no air con but they did provide a fan which helped. All in all I would book again now that I know where everything is. I recommend doing re search on where to find parking, supermarkets, restaurants etc so you don't waste money like we did.

Prison room lol ”
Felt like staying at a mental asylum. There was a crazy man yelling jiberish in the hallway all night n then started up at 5:45am. The bathrooms were on but didn’t smell clean. And the windows open out to Chinese restaurant ventilation vents lol. All in all it’s a very basic place to sleep alone for a night.

Dirty!!! Carpeted floors looked like they hadn't seen a clean in years if ever. They bed base was stained and greasy. The no mattress protector. The kitchen is shared so I accept a bit of mess and uncleanness but floors and fridges were grose. Great location and budget price the only plus. THE WORST EVER !”
The hotel that isn't actually a hotel is extremely dirty. No vacuum cleaning, traces of blood in the toilets, very badly maintained, many cockroaches that come at night in the room.

I really enjoyed my 3 day-stay at the George Street Hotel. I rented a single room which was located on the 3rd floor, the room was bigger than I expected, the beddings were very clean and smelled very nice. Great pillows by the way! There were way enough showers/toilets for everybody (actually I barely saw anyone in the bathrooms when I used them). I'm more than happy about my experience there and would definitively recommend this place to anyone looking for a good budget and affordable accommodation in Sydney!!

Good cheap option but . . .”
The location on George St near Chinatown was ideal for us. The price was good. The room was clean although had a strong chemical smell which disappeared after airing the room and stayed gone. There is no ensuite to the family room #203 but there are at least 3 shower/toilet rooms and at least one extra toilet. I'm a light sleeper so woke couple of times to hear other guests coming and/or going. I'm thankful for free use of the luggage room after we checked out. Staff were polite. No lift. Carry bags up one floor to reception and rooms in the 100s, up another floor to 200s, and there is a 3rd floor. This was OK for us for our only night in Sydney, needing a family room and at short notice but I would pay more for more facilities if available.

Great location, near to everything, all the good attraction within walking distance, location at the heart of sydney city, near 3 train station make it easy to reach all sydney public area. Have many restaurant, groceries around.. The price is really worthed. Just have no lift so we need to climb a stair but its okay compare to its great location.

I stayed in two places for my trip to Sydney and this was the inferior one, even though I paid more for it. It is admittedly one of the cheaper places in Sydney, so you shouldn't expect luxury....you should even expect a certain lack of comfort...but there were certain uncomfortable aspects that were quite unenjoyable. First off, you have to pay $20 deposit for the key...admittedly you do get this back, but if you're travelling on a tight budget, it's $20 you can't spend in Sydney doing touristy stuff or on food. Second, the single room I was in had spots on the blanket...though admittedly, the white sheets were clean. The bathrooms are my major gripe. Its nigh on impossible to get into one from 7-10am, and they're often left messy...again, this may be because of guests who have poor personal sanitary standards, but more cleaners...and for that matter renovated bathrooms....would be an improvement. In conclusion, as I have seen others say, you get what you pay for.
