Brilliant Stay”
We were only staying in Chicago a couple of days as part of a longer trip - and this hotel was absolutely perfect. Superb value for money. We had a big spacious room with a great view of downtown, clean, good facilities (always like the inclusion of a decent sized fridge so we can buy breakfast / water etc at supermarket and store to save some bucks) and the location of the hotel is great - within walking distance to most of the things you’ll want to see and do in Chicago. We would definitely recommend this hotel.
Great staff for an overnight stay”
Stayed in the city one night for fun. The I/O lounge offered a great view of the skyline even when it was cold outside - very comfortable in the enclosed part. I can see how this would be a great attraction in warmer weather, but we enjoyed it even in cold weather. We went there for pre-dinner cocktails. Our server, Alexis, was really great. Friendly, engaging, and made our visit there even better. Our Old Fashioneds were really well prepared, and Alexis told us the bartender makes this cherry-vanilla syrup used in the drink, and was really tasty. She really enjoyed telling us about the drinks, and we had a nice conversation around it. Very hospitable. After returning from dinner outside the hotel we had a knock on our door. A staffer came to our room because we left an item at I/O, and they brought it to our room to return it. Awesome service. Highly recommend the Godfrey. Alexis is a ***** asset for the Godfrey.
Satisfactory Stay - Good Location, Large Suites, Generic Design”
A friend and I (both in our 30s) were visiting Chicago for the weekend and decided to treat ourselves to an elevated hotel experience. The Godfrey appeared to check all those boxes - good location, large rooms and sleek design touches. However, there were a few things that would detract from that experience. Upon arrival we decided to check out the "rooftop" bar only to discover that it was in fact located on the fourth floor terrace. The single window in our room was very small and the interior design was a bit outdated without any of the unique design elements that one would expect from a boutique hotel. Room service was prompt and housekeeping was thorough. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but left feeling slightly underwhelmed by our accommodations.
Great Stay”
This was my first time visiting Chicago. The hotel was close to where I needed to go and the staff was friendly and helpful. I'm very picky when it gets to hotels but this one was an easy choice. Would stay again!
Just perfect”
Love everything about this hotel, it's just a few minutes walk to magnificent mile, very clean, the bed is so comfortable. I will definitely choose this again when I return to Chicago
Romantic Escape”
Great downtown location and modern interior! Staff is hands off and less friendly than other hotels in the area. I felt like I inconvenienced them when checking out and acknowledging that the bathroom toilet ran. Certainly they didn’t go out of their way to make you feel special like other places. Okay view from the room - had large cement pillars obstructing views. At night the colorful lights would turn on outside the window and our room became a rave-like experience with the epileptic inducing light show. Unfortunately we had to keep our curtains closed because of this. Bed is comfy and the room is Chicago spacious. Bathroom is tight but water pressure is good. Workout facility is small and old - my husband went to a nearby gym instead. Roof bar is awesome but go during happy hour when it doesn’t break the bank! I’d stay again if I found a good rate otherwise there are better options nearby.
Lovely hotel close to the action ”
Our flight was delayed home. The hotel accommodated us but didn't give us a deal on a room. Probably could have found one cheaper but we were already there waiting out a storm. Lovely views and cool lounge bar.
Exceptional”
Top floor, large room with two queen size bed, two sinks in the bath room, perfect location, clean, good service. Only the blue tooth control has some problems, but it fixed. Strong recommend this hotel. Will live there again next time!
unresolved shower issue”
My partner and I went to the Godfrey for its location to local attractions and for the rooftop. We booked a king suite and found we were put in a queen/full room. They moved us to a king room. Upon getting ready for our evening, the shower handle broke completely off and the water was stuck on scalding hot. They came and got the water turned off and said they would come and fix it while we were out. The next morning we went to shower again and it broke, now stuck on cold. The maintenance staff was called 3 more times because it looked to be more invasive then they had time for. We eventually took cold showers. The front desk blamed us for the issue and then only discounted the urban fee ($15) after my partner complained several times. There seemed to be no attempt to rectify the issue, give another room to shower in or offer a decent enough discount for our troubles. I probably wouldn’t stay again.
Above average”
I gave staff a 1 star because they were not friendly or helpful. Why work at the front desk if you’re not willing to help. For that reason, my next time being in Chicago I will stay at TheWit.
Nice hotel but lacks customer service ”
Nice hotel and cool rooftop. When checked in, the guy seemed to hate his job. He gave me my keys didn’t even tell me which floor or that I had to swipe my card to go to my floor. The bell man was amazing, friendly man. He told me about the elevators because he saw me stuck there. Bathroom vanity wasn’t working. They didn’t fix it had to do my makeup and hair in a very dim room. They gave me a voucher for $25 for breakfast. When I went to use it the girl said it’s only for one meal so my side of avocado wouldn’t be covered as part of the voucher. The food came to 14 bucks and the side would have made it to to 18. She said it’s only for one entree only. Last I checked a side isn’t a second entree. Either way the hotel left a bad impression for me and at the price you pay, id expect better service.

Received an excellent treatment from management, which accommodated me and my partner to a nicer room. The room was very complete, with all amenities you could ask for. The rooftop is gorgeous. I would definitely keep it in mind for my next trips.
Very good”
Nice hotel, but one thing I did not like about this hotel is closing the bar entrance to turn it as a club for private event on the weekend is unacceptable. you should at least allow the guest to get in and not ask them for an entrance fee.
Vegas in Chicago”
Decor and feel of Las Vegas in Chicago. Too flashy and leathery with select service.
Luxury at a reasonable budget”
A nice hotel. My only complaint is the light switches are kind of wonky.
The Godfrey”
The Good: Clean and spacious rooms, friendly staff The Less Good: Only one elevator working, noise from the roof-top bar... Don't take a room on the south side of the building, over the 4th floor "roof-top" bar. The music and noise kept us awake until 2AM! (we we're on the 10th floor)
Exceptional”
Breakfast in restaurant very good and reasonably priced
Fabulous hotel! ”
Great value. Close to the brown line. Walking distance to many tourists places. Awesome rooftop bar.
Good”
I reserved a deluxe king room and was given a queen. The hotel was sold out so there were no other rooms available.
Excellent”
Although the bathroom was very clean...it had a musty smell
