Good and Recommended”
Grand Jade is a boutique hotel. The room is modern and clean. It's worth to stay here. The location is very near to JB Sentral Station, which is good for anyone who is going to go to Singapore from Johor Bahru. One thing that I really like is that it has bathtub in it. However, the friendliness of the staffs should be improved. The staffs do not really greet customers when they pass the lobby, and they are not very welcome in the beginning. There is no sleepers inside the room, which is should be improved. The breakfast was really cute, but it was also very simple (cereals, breads, and fruits). Overall, I will consider this hotel if I go to Johor Bahru again and recommend it to anyone who is going to stay in Johor Bahru.
a hidden gem in unpleasant JB”
JB is the armpit of Malaysia, and the City's unpleasant and run-down hotel scene does reflect this perfectly. Hard to believe therefore, that such a hidden gem still can be found. The Grand Jade is located not far from the CIQ and JB Sentral, towards the sea. From the JB Sentral Bus station, where the airport Express stops, it is about 7-8 minutes walk. I discovered it while sitting on the said Bus a week earlier, and after several nasty experiences in the downtown-area, I luckily decided to give the Grand Jade a try. The rooms, which are obviosuly all different in size and design, are tastefully decorated with quality-hardwood-furniture. the mattress is excellent, not too soft, but as well not hard as concrete. the bathroom is very small (at least in my room), and the sink is inside the actual room, but that did not bother me. they give you design-toiletries (hand-made designer-soap!!!), and they give you a small basket with snacks for free - quality snacks, no rubbish: 2 packs of expensive Marigold Multi-fruit-juice, 100% juice, no sugar added. Cookies with no preservatives added. The big flat-screen TV has Astro with several (though not too many) English and Chinese channels. Sadly, there is no fridge in the room, this is the one big let-down, particularly as there is no convenience store around where you could just drop by and buy a cold drink or whatever. Kettle, coffee/tea, Hairdryer is provided. some rooms obviously do not have a window, but mine had. I would not have accepted a windowless room for that price. the problem with the location is, that there is a lot of street noise right outside, and even though the windows are good and of high standard, they can not block all the street noise. But nevertheless, this was a very positive stay, and if I am unlucky enough that I have to stay in JB again in the future, this small hotel will be my first consideration for sure. these people actually understand the meaning of hospitality - they deserve your business !
Everything so good, got bathtub also with lower price room. Even 4 star hotel sometimes got no bathtub. Haha..nearby Johor Bahru city centre n just across the hotel got R&F Mall. GREAT.
Great simple hotel with good location and great staff”
Hotel staff are so kind and friendly and cooperative.and i noticed this is the general attitudes of johor bahru people ,staff, taxi drivers, legoland staff....etc. which is really amazing and very unique compared to other cities of Malaysia. Hotel is simple and clean located just cross the road to city center shops and restaurants and cafe .also walking distance to jb station and mall. It located near to jb-singapore bridge near to the water strain. Breakfasr is very simple and i think need to be improved.other than that hotel was a great choice .
Thank you for your support. We will definitely try our best to improve on your next visit. Hope to see you soon.
A comfortable stay on a budget”
Worth it for it's value, after all one should have realistic expectations when choosing to stay at a budget hotel. The Grand Jade Hotel meets most of my requirements - a comfortable bed, decent bathroom, basic facilities and Wifi. Plus, it's just a 10min walk to JB Sentral and CIQ (beware of the Google Maps walking directions) Cleanliness wise is pretty good with the exception of some red ants wandering around the table top. But overall, no disturbances or much of a problem. I would come back.
Best location with reasonable price at JB Checkpoint”
It's worth more than I expected for The Grand Jade. Really close to checkpoint and shopping center with short walking distance. Really convenient with the walking bridge leads directly to the hotel from JB Sentral. Will come back if I stay in JB next time
Comfortable Boutique Hotel”
Grand Jade is located a 10-minute walk to City Square Shopping Mall and as well as Little India. Danga City Mall is a 10-minute drive while Senai International Airport is a 45-minute drive away. Check in was quick and we were attended by a sweet and polite Malay girl. Upon entering the room, we were pleasantly surprised by the sheer abundance of space, tasteful modern contemporary furnishings and the cleanliness maintained throughout the entire hotel. Adding on, the window in the room opens up to the view of the main road. The rooms small but adequate an a spotless bathroom with all the amenities. Excellent air-conditioning to beat the tropical heat, comfortable bedding and cable TV, a free breakfast was not ordered but included anyway, staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a limited affair but I enjoyed it. There was a choice of cereals, breads (white, wholemeal/granary and if I'm not mistaken Butterscotch), butter, various jams and marmalade, sliced cake and biscuits. The filter coffee was fine (flavoursome and somewhat strong) and the toaster worked – what more could I expect for the cheap price. The hotel’s staff at the 24-hour front desk will be happy to assist guests. The rooms in front are at the junction where it can get noisy at night when motorcyclists are reeving away. The only problem is the parking are limited and there are no safe deposit box and mini fridge in the hotel room. More like park at your own risk although the staff assured me that there's no need to pay coupons. It is safe from my opinion as long as you are alert enough. Bring your own hairdryer if you need one. No convenience store in immediate vicinity. It is not a huge hotel and felt more like a boutique hotel than one for a quick stopover.
Nice comfortable stay!”
I stayed there twice during my trip to Johor Bahru. First stay I left my 2 necklaces behind in the room. Pleasantly surprise that I was able to retrieve the necklaces a week later during my second stay as the staff was helpful. Cosy and comfortable with nice ambience. thanks
Very difficult to locate, I would suggest that you check out the location of Grand Bluewave Hotel to figure out how to walk over because Grand Jade hotel is a very small hotel and nobody knows where it is. If you are walking over from City Square, you have to cut through from CIQ building. Overall, room was very clean and nicely decorated, bathtub was small for suite. Breakfast was just a very simple toast and bread at the coffeeshop nearby and limited channels on the television. If you're looking for a 1night stay for a shopping spree or movie marathon/ktv session at City Square, this will be a good hotel to chill for the night.
Value for money”
Really really very nice and clean hotel i stayed ever in Johor！！Hotel looks new，staff very friendly and helpful，location very near to CIQ also... Thanks for providing me a pleasant stay.. Will definitely come back again！
A simple yet comfortable experience. ”
The grand jade hotel's location is very close to the immigration checkpoint so it was really convenient for us who travelled to Johor by bus, since we did not have to drive around to find the hotel as it is just a walking distance away from the checkpoint. Although the hotel was quite small from the outside, it was nicely built and exudes a very clean and sophisticated image. The room we picked was quite big since we chose the room that could fit in 3 adults. It was quite clean and spacious. Overall the room was quite comfortable, the only downside was the view from the window; one of our windows was blocked by a wall and the other was of a rundown house. They had no breakfast, or any meal for that matter, as they did not even have a restaurant but that was fine with us as the makan places were very near to the hotel. Overall, it was really value for money. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again next time.
Not Fantastic, Just Alright”
Cleanliness is very important to me when I book a hotel. I read reviews that Grand Jade is clean although some said that it is a little inconvenient. I booked a Suite room and on the Agoda website the features were stated as below: Room Features: air conditioning desk hair dryer ironing facilities television LCD/plasma screen bathtub shower mini bar satellite/cable TV coffee/tea maker complimentary bottled water refrigerator Free WiFi access There wasn't any fridge, hairdryer, iron and bathtub in the room that I was given, and my skin care product needs to be put in the fridge. Lucky it was just a one night stay. One of the pillow case has a bit of light brown stain on it, and luckily my bf didn't mind using that pillow and asked me not to trouble the hotel staff since it was only a one night stay. Then it was the towel. Both towels had small patches of brown or black stain on them, and one of the towels even had two strands of hair on it. This is the first hotel I have stayed in jb. Hence, I am not sure if this is still an above average standard there. And I really hope so as it is a little more pricey than the other average hotels.
Very valuable hotel with new & clean room”
Very satisfying hotel with nice lobby, clean and comfortable room. Initially dint expect hotel with this price will provide toothbrush, toothpaste but they did. A big plus for them. But unfortunately the room I stay don't have fridge. For those who like quiet place this hotel not really suitable due to the hotel is located right beside the main road. So at night a bit noisy. For those look for convenient will be highly recommend coz ICQ, city square is just within walking distance.
I got the chance to have a tour around the hotel before I made a booking. Each room is unique with various concepts, one of which includes the Japanese Theme room with bed on an elevated flooring. I am a fan of boutique hotels and this is a good place for those who are like me. It is still new so facilities are excellent. They've yet to have a restaurant or breakfast area, so if you are hungry, you can walk to JB Sentral, if you don't prefer local food stalls behind the hotel. There's a shopping center opposite it. The hotel is very near to Woodlands checkpoint- a perfect pit stop hotel before hitting Singapore. Value for money if you are not too fussy about the absence of breakfast.
Recommended for families with young children. The rooms are neat, clean and the facilities are in working condition. I was pleasantly surprised to see the hot water kettle so clean! Even 5-star hotels don't clean their hot water kettles! Keep it up Grand Jade.
good for a night sleep”
if you are travelling from singapore to johor for a 1 night stay, this might be the best location to stay as it is near to the immigration checkpoint and you can reach there within walking distance in 10 mins. there's a western restaurant downstairs and you need a taxi to travel to the city and taxi dont cost much in johor especially if you are using mobile apps
Clean and nice design hotel”
This hotel design very nice, clean room. It also value for the money, the room design very nice, when i tired for rush from airport to hotel, i'm feel great when i check in to the hotel and saw the room design. i'm not regret to lived this hotel. Will return again if i go to Johor.
Nice boutique hotel”
Arrived at 2am. Got the room behind the reception counter. Surprisingly clean and very nice interior. There's some construction work going on at front of hotel so it looks a bit messy. There's no dedicated parking lot but u can share parking lot for another hotel nearby and will be given voucher for that. And its an open parking lot. Breakfast is a little bit on the downside as u are served packed food instead of freshly cooked ones. Hope the management can improve on this matter. Location is very near to JB Sentral and night bazaar (walking distance) and only 7 minutes to town center. Good hotel, will consider staying again.
Thank you for you prompt review. We will try our best to improve on your comments. Please visit us again.
Affordable, Central and just great!”
The hotel is located in a newer area of the city centre, separated from the dodgy, shady and dirty city areas (eg jln Wong Ah Fook, Jln True) but still near enough to be within walking distance from JB Sentral- it’s very safe & comfortable to walk as there is a elevated and sheltered walkway that takes you directly to the front of the premise. Location is very ideal. The whole place is presentable, brightly lit and comfortable to be in. The room I was assigned is clean, spacious and airy. The rooftop breakfast area was very nice as well. Reception was great, check-in/ out was done swimmingly. For those of you with a budget under MYR200, this is probably the best place to stay. I am very pleased so will therefore recommend this place highly.
I have been a guest of Grand Jade for many, many times but Room 206 design, especially the toilet should be reviewed. The sink was placed outside the toilet, and the toilet door cannot open fully inwards into the toilet because the toilet bowl is right smack in front of the door. Such design issues is indeed problematic for hotel stayers.
