      Long Weekend in Singapore”

I would definitely recommend booking to stay here, having been to Singapore many times on business and normally staying in the CBD area this was a welcomed change. The hotel is clean, the rooms are small but for a city break that shouldn't be an issue. The location is excellent with the Rochar MRT less than 5 minutes walk and Little India Station less than 10. Perfectly located for Visiting Marina Bay Sands, Garden on the Bay and also Santosa Island or Bugis. The only negative to this hotel was that from my room on the 3rd floor I could hear load music playing from a bar outside until 3am. This didn't stop me sleeping and I would still chose to stay here again when taking everything else into consideration. I booked room only and would recommend doing this, there is a hawker stall just behind the hotel and there are loads of amazing places for brunch around Singapore. A good choice for budget hotel in Singapore.

amazing staff, new hotel, good location but can be noisy on weekends”

We spent 6 nights in the newly opened "The Great Madras" and would like to thank Barkath and Muthu for their fantastic service and their flexibility. For the first couple of nights we booked a "balkony room", thenafter downgraded to a "good room" but could stay in the "balkony room". Asked for an iron, a minute later Muthu was kind enough to deliver it. Umbrella = the same. This is top service - thank you. Location: on weekends, if you have a room towards the street, it can be quite noisy. value for money: Singapore is pricy, everyone knows that. So during the week, we got nice price deals via booking platforms whereas on weekends it was over our budget. rooms are clean and provided eveything we needed. facilities: coffee/tea in the room, two type of showerheads, pool, washing machines, tapas restaurant, elevator.

My partner and I found madras since late last year and it has been like a second home for us till now. Super, super, friendly and helpful staffs with great facilities, you would definitely love the beautiful modern vintage decor with an old soul touch to its interior. Price are also reasonably good for such a service and comfort. We both has totally stopped staycay-hopping anywhere else, for Madras has already made us feel at home! Pros: Nice room with a pool view (the good room) Spacious enough for 2 pax Basic bathroom essentials Rooms are kept clean everyday and stocks like coffee and water are being replinished everyday Theres a 24hr laundry within the hotel (5sgd per service) One block away from mrt rochor station Great and well trained staff (Even booked us a cab to airport) Nice smart tv Cute&refreshing pool Cons: The main breakfast only have 2 options And no plain white rice being offered (Only offers basmati or indian rice) But thats the only issue and its tolerable so still a two thumbs up for Great Madras team!

      Great Location”

The Great Madras is located near restaurants and a mall that opens 24 hours. There’s never a moment where you find yourself with nothing to do! It has a cool swimming pool and what I like about the rooms here (I’ve stayed here twice) is that I can watch Netflix, YouTube and surf the net with ease through their smart TV! Very convenient! Fast WiFi too! It is definitely in my top 3 hotels for staycation here in Singapore.

In the heart of Little India...”

Located in little India, The Great Madras is close to the rail , bus and shopping areas of Singapore but feels very different to the commercial or business zones. Streets are lined with India produce and people and the call to prayer could be heard from the local mosque. Felt safe to walk around but certainly very few females on the street. The hotel itself appears to have converted every space into quirky rooms, but there is a huge common area and cafe downstairs and the lovely pool. Pool was clean and well maintained. The Good Room I stayed in was towards the rear, had a great shower and large bed that filled the space. Might have been a bit tight for a couple with lots of luggage. Music from nearby places could be heard at night but did not bother. Staff were friendly and helpful.

      Great accommodation experience”

Love the neon and retro theme of the hotel. Rooms are value for the dollars. Amenities are limited including its cafe selections. However, there are a lot of food places nearby. The location is close to mrt station and located at Madras St, its name speaks for itself! The staff are amazing, its manager and staff did a great job for a pleasant check-in and out of the hotel. They were polite and kept it professional. Reliable to help you with anything, including retrieving any lost or items left behind. Great experience personally! Recommend to stay at least once!

A pity staying at a Better Room ”

A pity that a nice cozy room in a lovely hotel with enthusiastic staff is let down by choked drainage in its bathroom. A 5-min shower before heading off to bed flooded the whole bathroom and didn’t seem to drain off at all. I had to quickly tip toe through soapy water in order to towel myself off outside the bathroom. Since it was only for a night’s stay, it didn’t make sense to pack all my things and change room. However, it meant having to take an even shorter shower the next day to prevent a flood. The flood was there nonetheless, albeit a smaller one. Sadly, this soured my whole experience at the Great Madras and makes me wonder if it was really worth paying more to stay at The Better Room.

      Convenient, stylish”

My partner and I stayed at The Balcony Room at The Great Madras for two nights in November 2018. It was a very pleasant stay; the staff is not unfriendly, the location is convenient and ideal (with two MRT stations within walking distance: Jalan Besar and Rochor; and a bus station behind the hotel), and I really like that it was sort of in the Little India area of Singapore, with authentic good food all around (check out Bismillah Biryani Restaurant, a Michelin GUIDE Restaurants) and Muslim mamak stalls still operating at late night. The room has Netflix and YouTube, which for me is a plus point > and is way better than cable. The room isn't small, but definitely looks larger in pictures. The balcony is a nice touch, and overall the hotel and our room are very beautifully done.

      Fantastic quaint little hotel”

The Great Madras met my expectations for an enjoyable birthday staycation, in the offbeat part of town so that I could explore the vintage shops nearby. No surprises for how much I liked the award-winning decor! It was quiet, no noise at night and the room was very clean and comfortable. The Tv couldn’t connect to WiFi so the staff kindly brought in another tv for us to watch Netflix. Much appreciated! The pool was also clean, though because of the design, could not get much sun so the water is rather cold. Hope to have another stay here during the off peak season.

      Quaint and cosy hotel ”

We stayed in The Balcony Room and enjoyed our stay very much. The staff were polite and courteous - always with a smile and ready to help. The room was quite small but it was cosy and opened up into a little balcony which overlooked the street. We read the reviews beforehand and knew that it would get quite noisy at night due to the fact that a bar/restaurant is directly opposite (they have live music playing till late) but my partner and I weren’t too bothered by that. If you’re a light sleeper who would like a good night’s sleep however, you might want to weigh in on that. It was a great stay overall.

      Insta-worthy staycation!”

I stayed 1 night in the better room and wanted to extend 1 more night. The only room left in the system was the good room so they let me book that one but still keep my room (basically I got a discount) :D The facilities are decent for a small boutique hotel, lots of spaces to chill. They even have a small pool. What's most interesting about the place is the aesthetic that looks so retro 60-70s and so well designed like the set of a Wes Anderson movie. Every corner is so instagrammable. The room is cozy and the better room had a balcony that we shared with the next room, which is nice. But for toiletries, you need to bring your own toothpaste & brush. There are no fridge in the room but the staff was very helpful and offered if I want to use the common fridge. In terms of location, it's superb. Just a stone throw away to Rochor & Little India MRT, 1 minute walk to IHC, approx. 5 Mins to Tekka Centre, and right around the corner from Dunlop St where there are cafes and bars.

      Cosy Little Stay”

We booked the great suite for my husbands birthday staycation and it was worth it! The space was lovely in real life and the bathtub is massive. Pros: cosy, neat, surrounded by lots of cheap and great food places, and really near Little India so it’s a fantastic cultural place to explore as well at night. There is a fantastic restaurant at the lobby of hotel though breakfast was very basic (bread, cereal, eggs, fruits) so we went out to eat. Cons: it’s a boutique hotel so don’t expect a large swimming pool or other normal hotel amenities such as a spa. There is a service for laundry and dryer with a charge. Our room unfortunately did not come with a fridge which we would have liked for storing cold drinks in Singapore’s heat. We also did not find an iron but try to check with hotel staff if you are looking for one.

      It could be better ”

We came to Great Madras a year ago and was astounded by the service and room. However, it didn’t exceed our expectation this time. We had to wait for extra 40mins while they clean the room since they had a late check out. The bottles in the shower was not labeled so we could not differentiate between shower gel and shampoo. The WiFi for the TV was down so we could not access to Netflix. They also forgot to give us the dental kit and only managed to offer us 1 when we asked for it. Whether we would come again depends on whether they would take our feedback seriously and make changes to it. Thank you.

      Great hotel for good value”

The hotel was in a central location of Singapore, with easy access to many train stations to take you around the city. Rooms were small but ideal for a city like this. Very clean, good shower, comfy bed! Breakfast had limited choice, however I wasn’t expecting anything spectacular. It filled a hole before exploring the city. For the price and location, i’d recommend the Great Madras for anyone visiting Singapore.

Wanted to try The Great Madras for the longest time ever and finally got the chance to try it with my date. Check in was smooth, and the room was great - though small. Apart from the bathroom door hinge which was loud when opening/closing the door, I totally enjoyed my stay. The bed was fantastic and great for 2 to sleep on as well.
