Bad Area, Bad Place”
First of all, this is a horrible city to go to. Second, the staff at Harbor Lights were not very friendly. They were having a Christmas party when we arrived and were not really cognizant of the fact that they had people coming to stay. The greeting was uninviting and a little cold. This was probably due to the fact that nobody stays here anymore. When I say here, I mean Sihanouk, Cambodia. This city is dirty and slowly being taken over by Chinese people. Perhaps due to the lack of people visiting the city and the hotel, the hotel owners do not really care anymore. They will probably lose this property in the not so distant future. Especially annoying was the fact that we paid 50 dollars per night and this hotel was definitely not worth that. Also, we woke up to have breakfast and the owners had left early in the morning. The front desk staff member informed us he could not cook, he did not know how. We were not told about the kitchen being closed the night before. Very sad.
A Beautiful Place in a Changing City”
The hotel was very peaceful. Sihanoukville has changed a lot in the past year, now there are Casino's going up everywhere. This place had a very peaceful environment. The pool was very deep (near 3m/9ft) and much larger than it appeared. The view from the room was incredible. The staff were very friendly. We will stay here again when traveling through Sihanoukville.
Fun holiday and friendly service.”
We enjoyed our visit to Harbor Lights Hotel. The French family that owns it are very friendly and helpful to needs. The breakfast of bacon, eggs, and toast was very good. Late at night we were hungry and they fixed us very good kabobs. The pool is fantastic and very nice to relax at. The pier and beach are just a 50 meter walk away. The nicer beach for swimming is a further 200 meters down the beach. Head up the hill for 50 meters for good food that is fairly cheap. Excursion boats that will take you for the day to two or three spectacular is available at the pier 50 meters away. The excursions cost $15-$20 per person. Great colorful sunsets from the pier also. We had a great time.
we liked this hotel so much that we stayed one extra night. The room was big and clean. The balcony allso was big and had a wonderful view over the ocean. Nice to sit there and feel the cool breeze. It was only 5 minutes to walk down to Victory beach. A lot of bars around the area but not so many nice restaurantes.
Excellent, pleasant, and a good value - with a la carte breakfast, very helpful staff and excellent, personal, much appreciated service. There is a good ,choice of room types, suitable for most tastes and budgets and a nice, large pool, typically unused but very attractive. The walk to the beach is not long at all, a few minutes - with good service all around (excellent food, cold juices and drinks, massage, toilet, et cetera).
It’s situated in a remote place.”
I would request Agoda not to affiliate this property and promote to its valuable customers. If it does customers should be informed about the property. A customer may choose it but they should be well informed beforehand. Really I was very much disappointed on reaching there and I checked a room and refused to stay there and left the place. Even I worried about the security. Please don’t promote any property without physical survey.
Maybe all the hotels at this town are like this”
The hotel was not bad though it need a little renovation and regular cleaning. Maybe this wasn't a good season traveling to Sihanoukvilla, a lot of constructions work going on everywhere by Chinese firms, because of that I think, there was shortage of power and water in hotels. I checked out from another hotel because of this (no water for shower) but as I checked in here, the same situation no water as well as no power (till 10 pm) and you know mosquitoes, they will kill you. Overall no value for money, the aircon was also didn't work properly.
Absolute worst area of town unless you enjoy working girl bars on a street full of smelly hot garbage. Unmaintained hotel. Cable doesn’t work. WiFi barely works. Door to balcony screwed shut. Shower head broken. Lower floor smells like moldy sewer. Staff entirely unhelpful. The owner clearly does not care about the place or it’s customers. GROSS!
Run away as fast as you can”
No water, frequently electicity shut down, swimming pool terrible, dirty, staff incompetent. Avoid Avoid!
Bad, Dirty, Avoid”
This hotel is old, dirty and the website photos are not correct. Do not book this hotel.
Sijakonville is one giant building site.. Avoid for now”
Hotel was in middle of giant building site. They tried to keep it clean, and to be fair the room was OK. The swimming pool was not in use, They did not serve much in the way of food. I did have lasagne one evening, but it was brought in on a moto. Edible, and no stomauch problems! I appearred to be the only short term guest there. Other visitors and staff were French. Could not find anywhere remotely decent to eat in entire town, a fe OK coffe shops that is all. (I walked for over 5 hours looking). Maybe Sihakonvile will be OK in 5 or 10 years time, but now it really is a mess.
The worst hotel ever. Don't waste your money”
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY stayin in this hotel. 1. No staff to meet or greet us. It took us 10 min to realize that the lady at the bar was the owner. And she turned toward us after she finished her discusstion. 2. Located somewhere in nowhere among construction sites. Dirty street, pile of garbage next to the enterance. 3. Bad smell in the room. 4. One towel to two. 5. No breakfast. 6. Very old furniture and air conditioner. The noise of AC is another story... If you want to SPOIL your holiday then stay here.
Terrible place to avoid at all costs!”
No staff available. Leaky toilet. Flickering light all night. Only one towel allowed....no hand towel or pool towel. Frequent electricity cuts. Bed sheet had suspicious looking stain. Pool a good size but so much chlorine you feel you are swimming in a pool of bleach. Paid for breakfast included but was told there was no breakfast. In a seedy and extremely dirty place....Victory Hill. Just ghastly.
I would never stay here again and never recommend to anyone. The hotel which advertises they have breakfast had no breakfast, when I arrived at 8pm they didn’t have any food when it says 24 hour food service and my hotel room didn’t have a light in the toilet which the receptionst said nothing I can do about it! What sort of rubbish place is this which is still open?!
Needs Reno!! ”
The Chinese have turned the entire area into a huge construction site . Stay on the islands if anywhere
Pictures do not tell the story. The taxi driver asked us why we are staying there and told us to be back before dark, and he was spot on. Garbage everywhere on the way there, and one place to eat within 10 minute walk, I love street food but I wouldn't try the food around here and the only food at hotel is cressants and coffee in the morning, which are the only good thing here. The pool is nice and a lot of time wad spent on the balcony, mostly because ants and termites infested our room and was all over our food and clothes and the managers were told for times and refused to do anything, so we were forced to leave for a cleaner hotel and party of the city. I try to be positive but I can't do that for Harbor Lights, it's a crap hole and you have to go through a stinky garbage dump to get there. You will regret staying here, but if you do good luck and you've been warned.
Hope you may give much more effort on maintainence. ”
Through Agoda with good price (44$ for one room for 4 adults)... BUT... Too old and irresponsible management: toilet without water, the shower no water, no slippers, no sofa in front of TV...worst TWO HUGE Cockroach -.-; Only the thing I like is a big and deep swimming pool... Ah, their breakfast starts at 8am. Too late. In result, we couldn't taste their meal this morning! This time I used for my business trip. If it was for holiday, I must be very angry with my bad choice. I hope you may be more diligent on management to give your future guests satisfaction and make good money. Bye-bye
Lovely little place”
Very nice little hotel, well located and with a friendly atmosphere. Air conditioning not that effective and had a small problem with the upstairs neighbours flooding the bathroom. But overall, a lovely little spot. Would recommend.
Big rooms, far away”
Stayed here for one short night since we wanted to be close to the train-station. The hotel is a bit run-down, but fair enough. The rooms are really spacious and nice though. Mr and Mrs France is also very welcoming and helpful, and they make fine food. Its not a long walk to a more central street with pubs etc, but probably not familyfriendly street at night.....:) Also the closest beach is not to good. But if you want a quiet place, good price and good size rooms with balcony, far from the buzzing beach in Sihanouk, its a good place.
