The Harbourview Hotel, Wanchai, Hong Kong.”
My wife and I stayed at The Harbourview Hotel, Wanchai for five nights – Sep 14 to Sep 19 this year 2009. We were absolutely delighted with the hotel. It is perfectly located for walking to the local restaurants, MTR and Star Ferry terminal. The hotel is very clean and bedroom facilities were excellent. We had a view over the busy Victoria Harbour which was extraordinary. The hotel staff, I mean every member we spoke with, were kind, patient and very helpful. On one occasion when enquiring about a trip to Stanley the manageress overheard us and organised the exact fare for myself and my wife for trips out and back. Another time a staff member walked us onto the street and around the corner to put us on the correct route we required. When we return to Hong Kong we will definitely be staying at The Harbourview Hotel – that says it all really.
the harbourview hotel is located at a convenient location, there are convenient stores, food fast shops, restaurant nearby. regarding transportation, i can easily get mtr, bus, minibus, ferry and taxi nearby. it is definitely good money for value and i will recommend the hotel to friends who will go to hkg and want to experience the convenience in this place. the room is neat, clean and tidy. the staff is friendly and helpful. i appreciate the help and services provided by the staff. yet, it will be much better if the bathroom can be more larger. as a conclusion, i found the harbourview hotel is the hotel i will stay in my coming visits to hong kong.
Great Value for money! ”
Location is about 7 mins walk to the WanChai MTR station. It is sheltered all the way from station till you reached the end of the overhead pedestrian bridge which connects to the Immigration building on the right and Central Plaza on the right. It will be a shorter distance to walk if you exit the overhead pedestrian bridge before these 2 buildings. There is a staircase on the right leading to street level. Make a U-turn at end of staircase and walk about 10 metres and on the left is an open space with WanChai Tower on the right. Walk diagonally across this open space, you will find an access to a main road where Shui On Building is on the left. The hotal is just situated adjacent to this building. The front desk staff will efficient and checking in was a breeze. Of so many hotels of the same class in HK, the premier room which I have checked in was surprisingly spacious by the local standards. The layout was perfect with ample walkrobe space. Idea for those wishing to stay more than 1 day. The downside is I have a room that faces a wall notwithstanding I have requested for one with the harbour view. It does not commensurate with the hotel name. Checking out was swift too and our request for late checkout was accepted with no questions asked. We walk countless times to commute on the MTR within HK/Kowloon. Besides, there is always the need to switch lines at Admiralty Station in order to proceed to Kowloon. I am a seasoned traveller to Hong Kong. I recommed those who wants to commute on the MTR (which is the most convenient and cost effective mode in congested HK) to purchase the Airport Express Tourist Pass. Besides riding the airport express rail to the city, there is an option to purchase one with unlimited rides on the MTR for a specified duration. I purchase a 3 day pass. Great value for money. My stay in the hotel is more than pleasant and will definitely return again.
Harbourview Hotel, Hong Kong”
Upon arriving at the Harbourview Hotel in downtown Hong Kong, we were well taken care of immediately. Bell hops were very efficient, registering was fast and simple, and the decor in the lobby, the halls, and our room was very pleasant and inviting. Room rates are very reasonable and certainly competitive for such a good location. When in need of directions, staff provided maps and excellent instructions. Even the Sales Manager met us as we were leaving to ensure that we had a pleasant stay. All in all, the Harbourview Hotel helped make our visit most relaxing and enjoyable.
Great value for money”
Went to Hong Kong for the Rugby 7's. Majority of hotels had raised their prices to extortionate levels, but the Harbourview maintained their prices at normal levels, for a very busy weekend. Have stayed in many hotels in Hong Kong, but we were pleasantly surprised by the standard and size of room, with a view overlooking the harbour. Can't comment on restaurants or food, never tried them.
Harbourview International Wanchai”
Harbourview International House was upgarded to a hotel during our stay, on 1st September. This rebranding is justified as the room, service, restaurant quality are all of good standard. Its location is also very convenient for banking, post office services, a short walk away from money changers, Pacific Coffee outlets, HSBC bank and shopping centre (Shui On Shopping centre is just next door). Taxi can be obtained just outside its front entrance. I would recommend it for any traveller as its hotel room rate is very competitive, reasonably cheap by Hong Kong standard.
Great place to stay in Hong Kong”
This was a great hotel to stay in. We were upgraded to a Harbourview room which had a FANTASTIC view of Kowloon harbour. Everything was easily accessible from the hotel. Great restaurants all around. We did not eat in the hotel at all, but it looked like it would be nice. Rooms were a good size for Hong Kong and the beds were relatively soft for China. Rooms were very clean and everything worked. I would definitely stay here again!
i had a very nice stay at this hotel, again. i have stayed many times here in the past and keep returning as it a reliable and enjoyable hotel to stay at. the rooms are beginning to show the signs of usage but have been maintained well and will not take away from your stay. beds are very comfy and bathroom is great. the rooms are a bit smaller than others in hong kong but is still comfortable and room for two people and their luggage. the front desk staff is polite and willing to help you with anything you need. cabs are fairly easy to catch right outside the hotel to take you anywhere in hong kong. the only con i have for this hotel is the price. it seems to keep raising even though the hotel remains exactly the same. besides that i would stay here again as long as the price was reasonable.
3D2N stay at The harbourview”
I stayed at The Harbourview for 3D2N over a weekend. Booking made via Agoda allowed me to leave both my companion's name and mine. As we are travelling into Hong Kong at different time of the day, this brought us a lot of conveniece because my companion can check in despite the fact that booking has been made through my credit card. The room is considered of reasonable size compared to many other hotels in Hong Kong. We have two cabin-sized luggages and after putting them beside the wardrobe, we still have ample room to walk about. Frequent travellers to HK will know this is very much appreciated since we don't have to hop over our luggages to get to our beds. A very pleasant, clean and well organised room. The bathroom is very small but their choice of shower head washed away all my tiredness thus making up for the toilet's size. Other reviews mentioned it takes only 5 mins to walk to the ferry terminal but I personally think it is more than that, slightly less than 15 mins and and mtr is also quite far away. But an alternative will be to take the bus right outside the hotel to Central MTR. If only the hotel have shuttle services to the ferry terminal and the nearest MTR. But all in all, this is a hotel worth staying.
Harborview Hotel in Hong Kong”
The staff at the Harbourview were extremely friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about what there was to see and do in the area. The hotel was well located, very near the Hong Kong Convention Center and within walking distance of the train/Metro station and the Harbor. The hotel was a good value, and I would recommend it to others looking to stay in this area of Hong Kong. The only caution I would offer is to be aware that there is a hotel (Renaissance Harbourview) just down the street with a similar name, so make sure the taxi takes you to the correct hotel.
Good mid price hotel”
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Harbourview. The staff were very polite and helpful and kindly upgraded us to a Harbourview Room which is well recommended. Rooms are a bit on the small side so it was great to have a view out onto the harbour, but rooms were clean and perfectly adequate and were tastefully furnished. The staff in particular made our stay as my husband got ill and they were very attentive in helping us. Location is nice and quiet which we liked but also within easy reach of the bars of Wan Chai and easy 10 mins stroll to the MTR, Star Ferry and Tram. It is also convenient for the Airport Bus (A11) which stops on the main road a few mins walk away (and over the airbridge for going back to the airport). All in all, for the price we paid this is a good hotel and we'd definitely stay again.
Good nights sleep!”
If you are looking for a good quality room that has plenty of room, good service and overall the service provided for the room was great, then look at the harbourview. It is located in a part of town that is easily reachable from anywhere, and shops and restaurants are well within the reach of the front doors. the price is excellent for the hotel; I would stay there again if in Hong Kong again.
Close to the expo!”
If you're heading to the HK Expo and Convention Centre for business but don't want to pay mad prices, The Harbourview is the place for you. It's about 5 minutes away by walk. The hotel room was spacious and clean. The beds were really hard but some people like it like that. The hotel is also walking distance from Wanchai area or a cheap HKD25 taxi ride. It's about 30 minutes walk to IFC Mall and LKF or about a 10-15 taxi ride. Fun things to do: Take the MTR to Central and head to the bars in that area. If you want something different, go to a bar called The Iron Fairies. Go early because they get full pretty fast.
What a find!”
Harbour View International House is conveniently located on Hong Kong Island 10 minutes easy walking distance from Wan Chai MTR station, 10 minutes from the Star ferry to Kowloon and 2 minutes from the Hong Kong Convention Centre. Reception staff were efficient, courteous and welcoming and the concierge was most helpful in providing useful local information and directions. Harbour view rooms whilst on the small side have excellent views across the harbour to Kowloon and beyond. These rooms even benefit from a view of the laser show over the harbour at 8pm. Full marks are given to the housekeeping team who kept the room and bathroom (no shampoo provided) spotless and the hotel seemed well maintained throughout. Bed mattresses are firm but that seems to be the norm for Hong Kong. Electrical sockets are of the British 3-pin type but housekeeping will provide an adaptor if requested. A hair drier, iron, ironing table and hot water kettle (no coffee or tea etc) are also provided. On the one occasion we ate in the hotel restaurant the food was fresh and well presented but served on a cold plate and main course dishes did not all arrive at the same time. Checkout was quick and painless without the usual long wait for the room maid to check out the mini bar etc. Overall this hotel was a great find at the price and highly recommended for all types of visitors.
The best kept secret in Hong Kong”
Small rooms of course, but it's Hong Kong after all. Can't beat the harbourview side, wonderful views of Kowloon. Breakfast is good but a bit pricey; as an alternative try the Chinese western breakfasts with milky tea at a variety of small local eateries that dot the landscape near the hotel.
good accommodation in the middle of the city”
Rooms are bit small but considering the value and city centre location, it is very good. Neat and Clean. Bathroom was fantastic. It is very close to shopping malls and Wanchai convention centre. This is the best bet in Hong Kong to explore leisure and to mix business with pleasure. The location is easily accessible from any point of the city and taxis and other mode of transportation are widely available within the proximity of the hotel.
The room with a view”
This is the second hotel I stayed in during my stay in Hong Kong. I chose this hotel because I thought I would have a spectacular view of the Kowloon Harbour. Well, I did get the view but half of it was blocked by the convention center. If you would like to know.. my room was on the 15th floor. Comfort wise, no complaints. The room, although alot smaller than the room in the hotel I was previously in, had all the amenities one would need. However, there was a minor setback, instead of having a queen size bed, they combined two single beds, with it a tiny uncomfortable gap in the middle. I guess if you tell the hotel staff they will get you a new room, but I was just too tired so I didn't bother. One reason why I didn't like this hotel as much as the previous hotel is because of its location. It was just a tiny bit too far away from the MTR stations and food shops, about a 5-10min stroll to Wan Chai. But then again, I was kind of lazy.. who wouldn't be right? It's supposed to be a holiday! Overall, this hotel scores slightly above average, taking into consideration value for money, room size, hotel condition, etc. I would recommend this hotel to anybody who's going to Hong Kong in the near future.
Harbour view hotel Wanchai”
The harbour view hotel is close to the centre of wanchai and all the night life it has to offer, but its far enough away to feel more chilled out. The views of the harbour are only a stones throw away. It is pretty much central to get to all places of interest quickly. The hotel its self has a modern feel to it. My room was very big for a hong kong hotel room. The only let down was tht the bathroom was pretty small. There was a saftey depsoit box and lots of room for clothes and bags which is alwasy a good thing. The staff were very nice and helpful. Free tea coffe juice and water were put in the room every day. Something that isn't done in some hotels I have stayed in. The only big down side is that I was led to believe there wasa gym, however there wasn't.
best hotel in Hong Kong - Harbourview”
this is the best hotel for the money and location in hong kong. every room has a fantastic view of victoria harbour. whareas other hotels with this view cost upwards of usd per night, this hotel is about usd . it is on hk island, in wanchai near lockhart road, which is one of the the best bar/ restaurant districts in the world. the staff is amazing- friendly, fast, efficient, and concerned.
HKAPA and more”
We enjoyed our stay here for some of the Hong Kong Arts Festival performances at the Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts. The hotel is right across a lane from the HKAPA and next door to the HK Arts Centre, so the location is excellent. We're not crazy about Wan Chai otherwise, but for dining options and MTR the Fenwick Street pedestrian flyover across Gloucester Road puts you in the heart of it. The only disappointments were a smoked salmon and "brie" sandwich at the mezzanine cafe that instead of brie had barely detectable slices of some generic yellow cheese, the limited channels available on the room TV, and at night some construction noise along the waterfront. We didn't try any breakfast options this time so can't comment on those. We will stay here whenever we have tickets for HKAPA events.
