Amazing Experience!”
This was one of the best nights of our holiday! Its such an incredible experience & you really feel like you've stepped back into time & in the Scottish Highlands! The staff are also just amazing, so accommodating & friendly & seem to love what they do, especially the manager Roshan who was so friendly & the restaurant manager Senthil who so lovely & always made sure our G&T's were always topped up! They also leave you a hot water bottle in your bed, nice little touch which we loved. Just to note: men require a jacket & tie for dinner, however they can lend you one if needed. Also, they now have some new rooms in the newer addition to the hotel. These are more definitely luxurious, but we were actually given one of these & asked to swap for one of the older ones, which they did kindly. Those are of course more dated, but seemed more authentic & historic which we love. Its great as means rooms cater to all requirements so definitely ask when booking.

Staying in Style”
I'm not sure if we are fancy enough to stay here but they let us in any way... Hanging out here felt like being transported back in time. Lovely gardens, fun dining experience and BIG rooms. We had a very lovely stay and would return next time we are visiting the area.

Staff are friendly, attentive and professional during meal times. The traditional fish and chips and grilled pork chops were good for the price. Fine dining room with the fire place was very nice.

Foreigners and locals stay out, this place suck ”
Dont be fooled with the pretty garden here the staff is very arrogant and not helpful at all i saw they were scolding the foreigners during the breakfast in local language just because they were asking questions about breakfast the room we got was stinking like shit, and mainly the staff is really poor here even the managers they told that we cant stay here at first just because we are locals, we book through agoda and we called agoda amd got our stay which is already paid for. i advised foreigners dont stay in this hotel go to hill cottage if your looking to stay in this area.

Awesome stay ”
Don't be concerned by the idea of the formal dressings in a club. The club accommodation as well as dining facilities are also suited for families with the elderly and with little kids. We were a group of 13 adults and 04 kids and the awesome team at the Club took fantastic care of us. Our preferred place to stay whenever we visit Nuwara Eliya again :)

English colonial at its best”
It was an enjoyable stay. Highly recommended if staying in Nuwara Eliya. It's got the most charm out of the other hotels and the management has done an excellent job to retain its English character. The hotel was clean and staff were friendly. There are a lot of activities to do like darts, snooker, board games, etc. The garden was nicely kept and the front facade was impressive. The evenings in the formal dining area were pleasant. We only had one issue. They showed us an extensive wine menu when we first visited the formal dining area but when we actually went there to have a drink there were so few to choose from and the prices were much higher. Overall a fantastic experience and underrated hotel.

Good heritage hotel”
I stayed 3 nights here and love it. It's close to city center but very quiet. There's a shortcut to center through the golf yard and just need 5min walk to bus terminal, post office. The building, the garden r quite elegant. The housekeeping is good, they make up rooms twice a day. Above all, the reading should be the best of all hotels in Nuwara Eliya. I spent a lot time there. To defect, the food is average, even the famous heritage set dinner. Less choice of breakfast. The restaurant service is unstable. On the last morning, I stood at the door of restaurant and wait for the waiter bring me to a table, but they just took me a glance and walked away! It's really unprofessional! I understand there're some people only visit the hotel without consume. But I don't think somebody would visit a hotel in the ealy morning! To be honest, most staffs r so so. They look well-trained, but no heart!

Fun colonial experience”
Staying at the Hill Club was a bit like being in a time warp - all staff were very proud of their hotel and service and you couldnt help but enjoy it, even if it was a little odd! My husband had to borrow a jacket and tie for dinner - the hotel seemed to be trying too hard although it was a fun evening as there were several men in ill fitting borrowed jackets at dinner! The hotel interior is tired and it doesnt quite crack the luxury experience it is striving for. The room was big and very clean so no complaints. We also played tennis and it was a good base for exploring nuwara eliya. The staff were all extremely friendly, helpful and proud of The Hill Club.

This is a old hotel in Nuwara Eliya. The garden is nice and it is very quite. If you bring your suit, you can try their dinner. The staff is good as I would leave the hotel earlier, they help to pack a good breakfast.

A classic club atmosphere”
The Hill Club is, in terms of history and style, in a class by itself. Although a bit threadbare, it captures a time and culture that has been swept away in the superficial "smartphone" culture. It is a welcome respite and reminder that there was a time when formal dining and billiards after dinner and tennis on clay courts was a reality. We will always stay there when in Nuwara Elyia.

Old Colonial Charm in Little England”
The Hill Club offers a taste of the colonial era - reminiscent of a traditional Scottish period hotel - in the heart of Nuwara Eliya. Gentlemen must wear jackets, ties and shoes in the formal dining area, but staff provide these on arrival if required. The hotel is a little jaded, but that only adds to its charm, and the staff are warm and welcoming. The ageing building meant that we could hear members of staff talking in the small hours of the morning, but other than that we had no complaints. The hot water bottle that was brought to our room after we retired to bed was very welcome, and a nice touch.

Club with an old english style”
We staid for one night. The hotel is built in old colonial style, and has been around for many years. Maintenance could have been better, since there were many cracks in the walls and floors. Painting was also a but scruffy. The bathrooms were built later, but are still old and inneed of some upgrading. The beds were good, a big surprise the hot water bottle we all found in our beds at night, really good against the cold nights in nuwara eliya. We really enjoyed the formal dining, in a separate restaurant. The hotel has jackets in case you didn't bring one.
