Cheap, good location, VERY FRIENDLY”

I have stayed in Hive for quite long time. The hostel is located in Northbridge, close to Perth train station (2mins away by walk) close to all the supermarket, shops, restaurants, bars and clubs in CBD and There is oven in kitchen which is very rare for hostel. you can really cook anything you want! The building is a little old but they are renovating now and I never felt the place as dirty. All the people who work there and people who stay there are very nice. You will feel this place as your home right away. It is the cheapest hostel in Perth city and you get more than what you pay. I highly recommend :)

what a nice city”

I arrived early and the hostel was busy so they offered to put my bags in storage so i could walk to the city to buy some things. When i came back which was still before lunchtime they let me checkin early, gave me the code to the front door which is locked at nighttime and the password for the free wifi. you access the rooms via a wristband which has a chip in it which was different from other places. many common areas and a good kitchen

Great People”

I intended to stay for 1 day but ended up staying for 1 month. I meet great people in this hostel which was awesome for me as i was traveling alone. Big kitchen and large common areas downstairs. The hostel needs to be cleaned more thoroughly and then it would be perfect. Free wifi throughout which worked well. lots of showers and toilets in the big building

Location is Excellent nearby Cultural Central (Art Gallery and WA Museum) and Perth Station, Kitchen for self Cooking is Available

This hostel is centrally located nearby Cultural central (Art Gallery and Western Australia Museum) as well Perth Station. The good thing on this hostel is kitchen is available hence you can save on your travel budget in Perth. Others is not much special, some parts is a bit dirty and toilet only available on first floor, hence if your room on second floor have to go down

Cheap accomodation at a good location”

Location, Social, Friendly staff

Located in Northbridge, a 5 min walk from the city center, Wooleys and Coles. Close to pubs and clubs. Great vibe with very social people. Some long term workers so some of the rooms can be messy. A lot of party at night in the backyard so often noise late. Generally quiet after 12 o' clock.

Not bad, it's good for whom visit this city, won't stay hostel whole day. It has nice price n location, to CBD, 5mins by walk. But it crowded in one room, the bed is not good, tidy or not depend ur room type n roommate. Just 3 bathroom in hostel~water pretty hot. Actually, it is a place for sleep that all.

there were no noise control measures ”

close to transport, cheap, friendly staff

i went to perth with very little money to attend truck driver lessons and do a driving test. i live in the far north so i am not a tourist but a traveller from the bush. on the first night drunken noise from other guests kept me awake until 3am when i went downstairs and asked them to keep the noise down or go elsewhere. they complied but i couldn't get to sleep after that and had 4hrs operating a truck on 1hr sleep. very dangerous. the next day i spoke to the staff and asked if they could ensure there would be no excessive noise after midnight or 1am at the latest and that it shouldn't be me to have to ask other guests to quieten down. i explained i had a driving test and that i was leaving the next night (so i don't care what happens after that). i went to bed early and got some sleep but noise began at around 1am (probably returning from the pub) and was very loud including yelling by 3am when i again got up and asked them to quieten down. the very staff member i had spoken to was up and saw me come down. she apologised to me and spoke to the group only after i had as they were an obnoxious bunch that didn't wish to abide as the group the night before did. they were quiet for about half an hour then the noise resumed until 5am. i failed my test which cost me alot of money. i have never been to a backpackers that did not enforce noise controls so was extremely angry and disappointed at my stay there. on another note, the building is run down, the room had broken and flimsy bunkbeds which i nearly had a bad accident from when trying to climb the ladder to get to the window to close it the rung simply snapped away. the manager said he would remove them from the room but they were still there 2 days later. i have half a mind to complain to the city council and/or the health department. i really recommend to stay away from "the dive"!

Not worth the money at all! Beware!”

I booked for a 4-female share dormitory through Agoda for 2 nights. I was supposed to check in on the 29th of October but my flight arrived at 11.30pm of the 29th so I checked in to the hotel the next morning (around 6am of 30 October). The receptionist left my room key at the reception and got me to check in with them between 8-10am. The facilities in the hotel were terrible, toilets and bathroom were very dirty and some of the toilets don't even have a door! Went into my room, and the people living in the room don't look like female at the first sight (the room was quite dim when I entered the room as it was only 6am and they were still sleeping so I did not turn the lights on). The room was very small, the bunk bed was very shaky and the room was smelling a little awful. Decided to take some rest as I was quite exhausted. When I woke up at 7.30am, it gave me a real shock as I realised that there were 3 guys in the room, and the room that I booked with Agoda is for 4 females! Feeling very frustrated and felt like I was being tricked by the hotel, I went straight to the reception at 8am and got them to check for me by showing the lady staff at the reception my booking confirmation. The lady staff at the reception said that there was no such room (as in female only dormitory) in the hotel and the way she replied me was a little rude. Being concerned about my own safety I was quite firm on my stand that I do not want to be in a room with 3 guys that I don't know and requested for a cancellation on my booking and I manage to get a much better hotel which is less than 10 minutes walk away from The Hive Hostel. The Hive Hostel is tricking their customers by offering female only dormitory on the website, got us to pay extra for female only dormitory and told us that there was no such room in their hotel. The facilities and cleanliness of the hotel were also poor, definitely not recommending it to others. Think twice before you book your stay with The Hive Hostel!!

Value for money, great location!”

Location (2mins walk from bus stops), big bathroom, many people to socialize

After checking in, I need to store my luggage and continue with my tour, receptionist allowed me to store my luggage in a locked area. Late in the evening coming back from tour she handed me linen, pillow and blanket. She showed me the room. There is not much power point in it and you have to share. Condition in room is ok considering that I am sharing with 2 other roomates. Bathroom is big! On Saturday night I found it hard to sleep due to loud bar/club just across the street. Kitchen lack of cleanliness due to guests staying there does not do dishes, but facilities is superb. Microwave, stove, water heater, cutlery, ricd cooker all are available. On my last 2 days, there is no hotwater in bathroom. Socialising area is a bit messy, but since I am always out, it didnt really matters to me. Overall it is an OK place for solo traveller.
