Comfortable room and high quality service”
Home Hotel offered far more for the price than expected in terms of a spacious, light and very comfortable room with desk, seating area, large wardrobe, hair dryer, kettle and a great view across the city and distant Mandalay Hill. Quiet room despite central location as hotel is off a side lane. Simple but freshly cooked breakfast and coffee. As the reviews state, the staff were fabulous - genuinely warm and very helpful throughout. Thank you! Great recommendation for a driver Mr Zin Ko Win, a uni graduate who knows the city well and has good communication and proactive in arranging itineraries to suit in and beyond Mandalay and the region. Hotel can contact him or direct on +95 9402749612.
Amazing in Every Way!”
We totally enjoyed our stay at the Home Hotel. The room was comfortable as was the bed. The staff were amazing! May at the front desk went out of her way to make sure that we not only had everything we needed but helped us plan a tour itinerary. She organized a driver for both our travels around Mandalay as well as our trip to Bagan and Inle Lake. Koya, who drove us around Mandalay looked after us beyond our wildest expectations. Joe, who we spent 4 days with, is wonderful and also looked after us way beyond our expectations! The hotel breakfast was delicious and had lots of choices. All the hotel staff go out of their way to make sure you are happy. I would highly recommend the Home Hotel for your travels. It is an inexpensive hotel with 5 star service. (Ask for a room in the new section)
Great value for money ”
Brilliant hotel in Mandalay with good English speaking staff. Staff go out of there way to help and assist you with all your needs and queries. Hotel is down a small alleyway but there are staff on the main road all day waiting for any drop offs/pick ups and they carry your bags. As mentioned before hotel has no escalator but bags are carried up and down for you. Hotel is very clean.....the only negative I could point out was bed sheets smelt abit musty. Hotel arranged a driver tour for the day for me and also my onward bus travel to Bagan with hotel pick up and drop off at destination for reasonable price. Breakfast was good.....what seems to be the standard in Myanmar...tea, coffee, fresh juices, eggs (cooked to your choice) hot food such as noddles etc and various bread options. the hotel also recommend various restaurant which are nearby.....I can recommended the local BBQ restaurant on the street just opposite - fabulous fresh food and not to worry about hygiene as it is all cooked there in front of you. I also tried the Thai restaurant (Thai Mhat? I think) that the hotel recommended.....best meal I had in all of Myanmar....reasonably priced, nice air con surroundings, good service and of course a fabulous meal. All in all I would recommend you to stay in during your time in Mandalay and it was also great value for money.
Their hospitality amazed me”
The staff were so friendly and helpful. They made me feel a bit ashamed of myself because of their devotion to their job. Mandalay is a little unbearable for us upon arriving due to the noise, the dirtiness and the heat. The tuk tuk took the passengers from the bus station to each of their hotel and we hold our breath when we saw other people's hotel. Thankfully the Home hotel is nothing like that. It is behind a building that is under construction (don't worry, I was not bothered by it at all during my stay) and the staff waited on the main road to take your luggage for you. It's nothing phenomenon but clean, quiet, comfortable. The service fee is a bit expensive but the hotel can arrange everything for you so it's less of a burden. We went on a day trip with their driver and he was very attentive and energetic that we felt so bad when we refused to visit somewhere because we just saw enough pagodas.
The Home Hotel”
At the time of our stay, the hotel provided free bicycles (and helmets). From the hotel it was easy to cycle around much of the city, including around the palace and down to the lake. The included breakfast buffet in the morning was excellent, and the hotel itself (lobby/rooms) was markedly upscale. The mattress was also extremely comfortable, which was a welcome discovery after 3 days cycling around Bagan. And the staff was very friendly and welcoming. These great features more than made up for the slightly higher price tag of the hotel (it was about $8-$10 more than the average nightly rate we paid on a 5week trip around SE Asia). I would definitely stay here again if I were in Mandalay
Fantastic place to stay in Mandalay ”
The Home Hotel was a wonderful place to stay in Mandalay. Large, comfortable room that is very clean. Ask for a room in their new building that has been recently completed where they have a rain shower and elevator. Good breakfast with a nice assortment of foods and very filling! The front desk staff is always willing to help. They offer an excellent value on day trips. I would highly recommend staying with them.
Best place in Myanmar”
Everything was perfect. The staff was very nice and helpful. The rooms are large and good. The breakfast was excellent. The location is central, yet quiet as it is away from the street. And the free bikes are a huge plus in Mandalay. Absolutely value for money. We actually returned to the hotel after some time in the north east and were recieved with a warm 'welcome back'. Very nice. A tip: You can easily bike to U Bein Bridge from the hotel as the terrain is flat as a pancake. It takes around 1 hour and there are plenty of temples and monasteries to visit on the way. But do not stay until sunset, as it will be dark on the way back and traffic will be heavy.
Great value for money hotel”
The hotel is fairly new. They are renovating the front part, but the back part, where we were staying, is completely separate, so you don't even really notice this, except that the entrance is a bit hidden during the renovation. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Willing to provide a lot of information on things to do and where to go, even if you're not booking this through them. Was able to provide average taxi prices, etc. We rented a scooter from the hotel. Not the cheapest, compared to independent rental places, but super convenient, and the scooter is right in front of the hotel. Breakfast is simple, but good quality. A good coffee shop is a few streets away. If visiting Mandalay again, this will be my go to hotel.
Nice Hotel in Mandalay”
We love this hotel because is in above standard hotel in Mandalay. everything was perfect. Room, bath room, breakfast, receptionist, everything nice. Oh one more thing, If you want to try burmese BBQ, i recommend the Diamond restaurant just next to the hotel. The food is delicious. Some of the waiter cannot speak english, but the resto manager or the owner can speak english. The price is local price. its waaay cheaper than if you take some restaurant for tourist.
hotel nel centro di Mandalay, camere ampie e pulite, colazione basica. le opzioni asiatiche piu' numerose di quelle per occidentali. accanto c'e' una sarta, non parla inglese ma se avete necessita' il personale dell'hotel vi aiutera'. centrally located, clean hotel, spacious rooms, breakfast with the basic options, more for Asian guests. right next door there is a tailor. she can't speak English but the Hotel staff will kindly help you
We had a massive room with a bathtub and a decent city view. Probably the nicest room we experienced in Myanmar. The included breakfast seemed pretty standard for Myanmar hotels ( soup, rice and noodle dishes, sausage and tomatoes, eggs cooked to order, toast). The staff were very nice and helpful. They are working on a huge expansion of the hotel but our room faced away from that so we didn't experience any issues. The location is great for going to the day market and the night market by the mosque and for restaurants. The golden palace and mandalay hill are a bit far to walk but are a nice bike ride away. The hotel has some bikes for guests at no charge which is great (we got two our first day) but a limited supply (not so great...so the second day none were available for us). We would stay here again.
great great staff, wonderful service, thumbs up! arrived at 3am, woke up one of the hotel receptionist, he still made sure to explain everything to us. And suggested we take the bicycle to see mahamuni, which was directly a straight route down the road. came back, and had to replan another trip with them, they suggest our driver to drive us to mingun and sagaing, Driver - Kor Yau. Really top notch service from him. Rooms were big and great, air-con takes 5 minutes to start up, other than that its all good. Hot water showers available too. We decided to extend 1 more night's stay but they were already fully booked, so we sadly shifted ourselves :/ Really value for money, to note, they have no elevators yet, so request for the lower floors if you have trouble with stairs. Or wait till the year end, where they are in the midst of completing their 2nd building! YAY! will definitely come back if I'm back in Mandalay!
Very good staff and good location”
The staff is very helpful. Suggesting good local restaurants around, organizing tours for you, changing money ... The rooms are big and well equipped. Only bad part is the staircase because there was no elevator. But apart from that a very nice hotel that will make you feel home very fast. Will definitely stay there again if I go back to Mandalay.
We were there in mid-Feb and we were assigned to a newly renovated room, but it has a really strong smell from the newly painted walls and furniture! The room is very nice and looks the same as profile pictures but we had to change to its old room located on another floor because we really couldn’t stand the smell for another second. The old room has big difference compared to the new one in terms of interior design and facilities. It’s not worth for what we paid. Other than this, the breakfast at roof top was good. We didn’t get to check-in early even we arrived very early in the morning. We went on day tour for sunrise straight after luggage storage at hotel (No blame on the hotel just bad luck for us. We were luckier in Inle Lake:) Just a heads up to those who are taking night bus and arrive Mandalay early.
Stayed here twice! ”
Fantastic hotel with spacious rooms, super clean and lots of English TV channels - perfect relaxing area after a busy sightseeing day in Mandalay. Breakfast in buffet style with a good variety that is filled up even shortly before the breakfast ends. Staff are very friendly and helpful, especially Theint Lay at the front desk was very nice. Also, went on a sightseeing tour by taxi (arranged by hotel) which we can definitely recommend. Ask for driver So Thu (or Peter Parker). Overall, best stay in Myanmar!
Wonderful staff, very clean rooms!”
I wasn't a big fan of mandalay..found it too sprawling and difficult to navigate on our own. What made a huge difference was coming back to huge smiles.. starting from their strong 'bell boys' waiting with a smile at the entrance to the small road leading upto the hotel from the main road... to the lovely receptionist who helped us with all our questions. Their taxi service is well priced and reliable.
Beautiful rooms, exceptionally clean, fantastic staff. Great location and very accessible to all the main attractions via a 10-15min tuk tuk or taxi. The hotel also organised a 4 city trip for 45usd/ 2 pax which brought us to incredible spots from 8.30am-7pm. Having a private local guide to bring us around really stood out to us for our trip to Mandalay.
Best stay in Myanmar ”
Room was comfort and spacious , breakfast was great. I asked for private tour from hotel the driver is very informative and yet hotel car was comfort. The receptionist provide us useful information. I will revisit again and this is most recommended in Mandalay
1) We only stayed here for one night due to tight schedules. But overall experience was quite good especially compared to precious hotel stays in Bagan etc. Mandalay is more modern than those cities. 2) the location is quite good as it’s in the central of the city and near the Mandalay Palace. the staffs are friendly and willing to help. 3) the only small thing to be improved was that it seemed the staffs didn’t read the special rescuers we input during the booking. They didn’t prepare the beds accordingly for us. But after we arrived, they tried to make it up a bit.
We had a brilliant stay at the Home Hotel. The staff were really helpful and friendly. You can borrow bicycles from the hotel to go exploring, we cycled to U Bein Bridge. I wouldn't recommend using the hotel to book taxis or motorcycle taxis if you're travelling on a budget as you can get them far cheaper on the street. It's within walking distance to quite a few good places to eat including an amazing BBQ place a few hundred metres away. The room was really clean and spacious. There isn't a lift which was brutal after a long day in the heat, but it made collapsing in a heap at the top even better. When we first pulled up outside at night I think my boyfriend thought I'd booked us into a building site, but it's just around the back. We didn't hear the building work at all during our stay. I'd definitely recommend staying here.
