We were at the Alyeska resort in Girdwood for our Honeymoon. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful bell boy who got right away to help us with our luggage. He was very nice and had a very good personality and also mentioned to me when when I was looking around for help 'Don't worry sir. You're well taken of here.' There was only one check-in staff so we had to wait in line a little but this seemed normal in USA when it's low season specially in a ski resort. We mentioned that we are on our honeymoon and they gave us a beautiful mountain view from our room. The room was spacious, clean and very nice. One very important thing that I have to mention is that the lady at the concierge was very friendly and oh so helpful. Our bus transport forgot to pick us up from the hotel and she especially drove us with her own private car to catch up with the shuttle. This was way beyond my expectation and my wife and I are sooo thankful. We are very impressed.

Like any high end ski resort ,Alyeska of course will squeeze every dollar out of you,wether it be for lift tickets,gear or food,but overall not too crazy in comparison to some of the ridiculously priced ski resorts with far less snow volumes and terrain options around the world. They have a great free shuttle service that runs late into the evening if you want to pop down to Girdwood village for dinner instead of hotel. The overall hotel is beautifully designed with comfortable clean rooms,well serviced on a daily basis. It probably needs a slight update in cosmetic appeal to keep up with the rest of the resort trends,but certainly still an impressive hotel. Two main restaurants are on offer ,with a casual bar attached to one for the solo traveller as an option. Breakfast restaraunt downstairs has some very tasty omelettes and pancakes on offer,along with ok coffee. Just be aware - It gets pretty busy on weekends and some Mondays if it’s dumping pow! I’d certainly visit again!

Top 10”
We are seasoned travelers, and this hotel is definitely in my top 10 category. Didn't get to use the facilities much, so sorry can't give 5 stars. Most of the time we were on the move from morning till night making full use of 12 of the 20 hours of summer daylight but did at least make use of the complimentary tramway to go up the mountain behind the hotel where you get a fantastic view of Turnagain Arm, and the surrounding snow capped mountains (early June). There are plenty of hiking trails and creeks aound the hotel to explore if you are a nature lover. Even drove up real close to the "resident" moose which was munching away nonchalantly beside the road not far from the hotel. Apart from that you can get pretty much anything in nearby Girdwood town.

Nice but lackluster room quality”
Our expectations were high coming to the resort due to the glowing reviews and word of mouth from fellow Alaskans; we left with a lackluster the feeling. The details - the little things that typically distinguish great from good – missed the mark for us. Outdated fixtures in the bathrooms, wallpaper peeling off the walls, and uninspiring furniture and room décor were just a few substandard specifics that were noted. The biggest disappointment was our beds. Not sure how old they were but they did not provide a sound sleep. Both my wife and I woke up complaining of lower back pain and we are healthy, active thirtysomethings. The only saving face was that it was only for a weekend jaunt to get away from the Anchorage bowl. If our trip would have been longer than a few nights we would have requested another room or perhaps cut the vacation short due to the beds alone. We were very disappointed. While some of the amenities were extremely nice and the staff was very helpful, I could not recommend this resort to anyone staying longer than one-two nights.

Pricey but amazing”
It was my first time here. Was really looking forward to the pool and hot tub but had a little too much fun at Oktoberfest and never made it down to enjoy the water. Next time for sure! The resort is beautiful and I would love to return for ski season. We live I. Anhorage so it's kind of hard to justify staying 45 min from home for almost $200 a night, but it was definately nice to spoil ourselves for a night! :)

great stopover from cruise departs”
spacious rooms with comfy king-sized beds. summer rates comparable to larger hotels in Anchorage. enjoyed the salt-water pool. extra note that it was stairs leading into the pool instead of the typical ladder. the mountain and its trails was an additional attraction.

Great location for exploring Gridwood & Whittier”
Location is great to explore Gridwood & near great food choices and catch a cruise out from Whittier. Hotel room is clean, smells great & comfortable with enough storage spaces for luggage. Level2 takes you to the tramway for great views of Gridwood.

It was a very comfy hotel overall. It has a few restaurants inside a hotel and a great view behind the hotel. I think it's great for families with kids. It might be too crowded for couples.

Beautiful hotel and setting ”
The accommodations and grounds were exceptional. A very nice spot for both family fun and couples get away. A lot of activities even though we were between seasons (ski and summer). The only complaint was the lack of friendliness from the front desk.

A ski castle with a restaurant in the sky…”
Very cozy place to stay in the wintery time…room was spacious & the loungey community living room was warm & comfy. Amazing restaurant up on the mountain with views & beautiful food i& great coffee cafe… we only stayed one night though would definitely return!
